i need to know that how to catch whether that is a slip catch a fast flat catch or a ball miles up in the air.
i really need to know that how should i hold my hands and in which position i should be standing and i also want to know that you might also share some of your experiences during catching.

Hmmmmm I think its hard to teach someone.

I'm a very safe catcher. It is just something that came natural to me.

Slip catch

Stay low as possible, bend your knees a bit, make sure your pinky and your ring finger are over your other pinky and ring finger. It is easier go up and then come down when you are at slips. This is why you are told to stay low as possible at slips.

Fast flat catch

This is up to your subconscious, you can't really do anything. I usually follow the ball from the moment it leaves the bowlers' hand and keep my eyes on till the play is dead. I field at mid-off, mid-on, mid-wicket or point and soon as the ball comes fast at me, my subconscious takes over and everything I do (dive, jump high reaching or take the catch) is done by my subconscious and only when the play is over I come back to my conscious mind.

Ball miles up in the air

This is the most annoying thing. I hate it, the ball may swirl, move at the last moment, you can't judge where exactly it will land and it is just a big **** off. I usually call "ITS YOURS (name of the nearby fielder) :P".

I meant to say that it is easier to catch when the ball when it is coming a bit higher than to come down when the catch is coming a bit lower.

hey thanks for that ...will try it next time and as I field on near the boundary so that is really aproblem as cannot judge the ball landing? but will try the slip catching as I even field over their

No problem, I prefer you try at Mid off or Mid on. It makes you get into that "zone" quicker and it helps with your batting later since you will put all your concentration towards the batsmen. You always feel like the ball is about to come to you so your focus on the game increases exponentially. It helps your grey matter in your brain as you temporarily shut down some parts of your brain. You are basically meditating from the moment the bowler starts his run up and the play is dead. 50 Overs fly very quickly compared to fielding at the boundary where every over feels like a millennium.

yeah your right but I play 15 over or 20 over games or test matches where batting over the boundary line is not that tough but is still very hard...and by the way im not a professional cricketer!

Same here Except whenever it goes high, i make it look harder by not judging it early so if I catch it its awesome catch otherwise it was nice try :P

Me neither, I just started playing club cricket 2 years ago, more of a late bloomer. Hasn't fully blossomed yet :P

But won't your team mates yell your name since it is floating above you ? :P

To practice find an empty room, use a bouncy ball on the walls, so it will bounce back straight towards you/around you and keep catching it using these techniques. Will help with all catches except high ball catches.
