Shaheen Shah Afridi turned a moment of controversy into instant payback. Just after Fakhar Zaman’s catch was overturned by the third umpire, Shaheen bowled Shanaka and raised his arms straight towards the officials, almost as if to say, “Still not out?” The celebration looked less like joy and more like a mocking reply to the decision box.

Two balls later, another wicket fell, and the gestures from Shaheen and Fakhar made it clear they weren’t hiding their frustration. It was the kind of fiery response that wins matches but also has the ICC match referee reaching for the fine sheet — a classic case of passion spilling over into pointed mockery.

I don't really see what the big deal is and frankly speaking, that was a ridiculous decision from the umpire.

But maybe it's just me. I am used to the sports in North America where players will go at the umpires and curse them out on poor calls.

Bcci is a menace while pcb is an angel and the golden standard of morals .so pcbicc saving them will send wrong signals for its players and fans with golden hearts
LOL... PCB can save no one.... Safaraz got fined for similar remarks to Bumrah but Bumrah is safe as well as Pant..

We know BCCICC is the real deal

Unnecessary from Fakhar, the guy is a mental midget who only finds his mouth when the opposition was down and out. The same batsman got dismissed again, no damage was done.

the umpiring standards have been very poor in this series. So its understandable, at least Fakhar and Shaheen did it maturely and not like that crybaby who throws his toys out of his pram and starts talking to the stump mic

This is unnecessary.

No need to mock the umpire. Umpires try their best.

Am sure pcbicc will not let them get fined

Just like BCCICC

Ban them for a game

Atleast a fine umpire decision must be respected

Should receive a fine
I think we need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. These players are out there pushing their bodies to the limit on the field, giving their all for the game. The incident in question happened in the heat of the moment, and it's important to remember that emotions can run high in such intense situations.

If we start fining and banning over every minor incident, we risk making cricket dull and boring. Part of what makes the sport so exciting is the passion and spontaneity that comes with it. Let's keep that spirit alive and not overreact to these situations.

Gazza Bhai you are absolutely correct emotional will spill out in tense situations but we must also uphold the standards of the gentleman's game. Being rude to the umpire deserves a fine. I'm all for players expressing themselves but we can't have open dissent towards umpire. If we let players get away with this then cricket will continue it's descent from being a gentlemans game and soon start to resemble a Mumbai street food YouTube video where people are shouting and jostling to get their point across.

Zero tolerance against disrespecting umpires. They at least deserve a fine.

People need to lighten up.

I thought Fakhar's reaction was funny. I don't see anything wrong with what he did.

We need to move away from their stupid colonial way of approaching the game. It's a sport, players are allowed to show their displeasure at an umpire's decision. Don't need to slap them on the wrist for every stupid little thing.

Sadly, most people who watch cricket and think umpires are fragile are uptight bores.

It's just stupid. It's not the 1900s anymore. This is not a sport played only by snooty, upper-class Brits, it's a global sport followed by millions. People here are more offended for the umpire than the umpire himself. I doubt the umpire even cares about something so insignificant.

Fakhar Zaman found guilty of breaching ICC Code of Conduct

Media Release

Pakistan batter, Fakhar Zaman has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee after he was found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka on 29 November.

Zaman was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.”

One demerit point has been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident occurred in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Zaman had a prolonged argument with on-field umpires regarding a decision that saw him lose his wicket.

Zaman admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
