No, ABDV is the second best ODI batsman of all time. He's dominated bowlers all around the world and no one does the things he can. He combines the SR of a lower-order pinch-hitter with the run-scoring prowess of a top-order accumulator. He's nearly perfect for the ODI format.
Amla is most definitely one of the best ODI batsmen of all time. It's funny that you mention his average of 45 and SR of 86 against non-minnows as a negative. Please also state the average and SR of the other great batsmen against non-minnows. Also define "in this era" while you're at it because Amla has been playing ODI cricket since 2008 and was at his best during 2010-2014.
You can pick holes in each batsmen but the ten I picked have the least amount of holes in their records. You do not have to agree with it however, these things are very subjective.
In the same era(2008-2018), these are the stats of other batsmen:-
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...8;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting
As visible by those stats, AB and Kohli are miles ahead of the rest. Dhoni still comes no.3 after excluding his excellent phase(2005-2008) and when we consider his finishing skills(something which is not measured by stats), he is the only other one from this era who along with AB and Kohli can be put in the top 10.
Others like Sangakkara, Taylor, Amla and Rohit are miles behind and cant be put anywhere near those three.
Why did you filter out out Bangladesh? They have been a very good ODI side in last 10 years. Better than WI honestly. For a good amount of time were better than Pak and Lanka too.

You are forgetting SRT's hammering 98 from 75 balls facing Akhtar, Younis and Akram in the 2003 WC. It was the only time in the WCs that Pakistan put up a match-winning total for India to chase. Rather it should have been match-winning but then SRT got going. Kept India's slate clean in the WCs against Pakistan!
You missed the West Indies in your query. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=100;qualval1=matches;spanmin1=01+Jan+2008;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting
The top five against the top eight teams in the time-period you specified are: ABD, Kohli, Dhoni, Amla and Root.
Considering that Root has played all his ODI cricket post-2013 and still has more than half his career in front of him, he can be excluded from the conversation for the time-being. <B>The remaining four are all top ten material for me with ABDV being by far the best of his generation.</B>
Just because a batsman is not as ridiculously good as ABDV does not mean that he's not superior to batsmen from other eras.
That was a good knock arguably Sachin’s finest in WCs but has nothing to do with WC knockouts tho. The result of that game didn’t have much of a bearing on whether India would progress to the next stage (super sixes) either btw. India were pretty much through as long as their nrr didn’t take a battering.
You cant have five names from same era in the top 10. If someone has to be in top 10, he needs to be having something special.
Even if we include WI(although we shouldn't), it is quite visible that Kohli and AB are by far the two best batsmen from this era and rest are a level or two below. So, if anything, I can see only these two names making a place in top 10 whichever way we put the query.
Kohli has now proved his worth in non-Asian countries against their opponents as well. Absolutely dominated a very high quality SA attack in SA.

Going into that game it was actually Pak who needed a win to guarantee a place in the super sixes after getting hammered by Eng earlier and due to Zim’s walkover win against Eng. Of course In the end Pak’s must-win last group stage game against Zim was unfortunately washed out and Zim went through to the super sixes ahead of Pak and Eng.

Any match against Pak in WC is ' Must win' for India. It was way better than other 3 half centuries in WC knockouts which sachin has played.
No India vs Pakistan match is ever inconsequential and without pressure, If anyone feels so he is simply ignorant of cricket or India-Pakistan situation.
