nope, i dont think so. Life has been very cruel to us against Australia.
The 99 world cup draw still hurts to this day, that was our best chance to win the world cup, probably our best ODI side if not the most balanced.
Pollock pulling injured before Australia toured SA in 01 and was never the same bowler again. Gilchrist destroyed Donald who was past his best and injured him to retirement. He proceeded to thrash 2nd rate bowlers in that tour.
We should have won the series in Australia in 06, we had Australia in trouble in the 1st Test only for a double ton by Hodge and some atrocious umpiring decisions, the game ended as a draw. In the 2nd Test we collapsed without Kallis, got thrashed pretty badly. 3rd test we dominated Australia to dust for 4 days, but we were running out of time and had to make an aggressive declaration in which Australia required to score at over 4 an over to win.
The 2007 world cup game had a psychological effect as well. SA were chasing 300+, Australia all panicky, with AB and Smith treating McGrath and co like club bowlers. Then out of the blue AB is run out from a direct hit from the boundary on 97 which never happens. Smith got tramps which destroyed any momentum we had.
As a result in the semi finals we were stupid thinking we would need 300+ to win against Australia without having assessed the pitch. We went over aggressive and got bowled out for 150 in the end.
Again injuries almost cost us in our last tour of Australia as well, but this time we showed great adversity to triumph.
So if any Australian player pulls out injured and gives us momentum i would not care. If anything it would be poetic justice. I'm sure you would agree
