So do iI want misbah and younis to play forever

Our test team performance will fall drastically after these two stalwarts leave..
You really think so? I think this galle win was driven by players coming into their own.... Although we did need Younis. Regardless I think we're in a better position than we fear, even though their absence will absolutely be felt.
You are 2 down for 10 runs on an overcast morning in London and a venomous pitch at Lords and you see Umar Akmal striding out to the middle.. don't think that would inspire a lot of confidence.
Now if you had a Misbah or YK than you knew these guys are atleast capable of shutting shop and try to survive.
Azhar
Shehzad
Shafiq
Akmal
Fawad
Haris?
Sarfaraz
Amir
Wahab
Yasir
Spinner/Irfan?
Pakistan need to stage their retirements.
At least one year between them
I have a sneaking suspicion Malik will squeeze in on the Experience Train
i hope you are wrong.
Saj nailing it and sadly we seem to be in the same state. Ideally, both wouldn't have retired at the same time. Babar's booted Hafeez out. Haris Sohail is still in his way back. Umar Akmal is out of favor. Wonder if Salahuddin will get a chance. Haven't heard of Amin performing in a while.A year ago I would have said that we would really struggle and end up as also-rans in Tests, but I think there is hope.
The remaining batsmen such as Sarfraz, Asad and Azhar are fine. I'm not convinced by Shehzad and Hafeez as openers though.
Replacing Misbah and Younis will be very tough and I hope that one stays at least a year after the other has retired. I suppose the likes of Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Usman Salahuddin and maybe if Umar Amin can find his form again, come into the equation.
Azhar
Sami
Asad (Babar needs to be blooded at an easier position, golden boy Shafiq needs to step up can't keep hiding)
Haris/Fawad
Usman
Babar
Sarfaraz
Imad (can be dropped for a third seamer on fast pitches)
Yasir
Amir
Hasan/Abbas/Junaid
Babar that low is madness and I don't think Shafiq has been hiding at all. He has batted at whatever position the power structure have told him too. Reality is, he was never going to overtake YK and Misbah in their positions.
I wouldn't mind Shafiq at 3 although Babar is simply the better in form no. 3 so why under utilise him?
The number 6 position in tests is like a second number 3. Most times the number 6 batsman will be playing the second new ball. Babar has capability to play the new ball but the conditions would be easier and the bowlers would be tired by the time the second new ball comes, allowing Babar to prosper. It is still early days but Babar has not done well as a Test number three.

Words of wisdom from moi 2 years ago. Still holds true.
It is unfathomable how a player like Umar Akmal has millions of fans.
Younis still got a few years in him at Test level.
#3 has to be earned according to OP but Haris is an exception.
Love me some fantasy lineups.Bro, haris has proven in domestics. Please, don't try to be too smart.
And coming, to this thread, you can post which ever line up you like. Even put Anwar ali, if you wish.
i think it should be like this
1.Sami
2.Azhar
3.Babar
4.Fawad
5.Asad
6.Harris
7.Sarfraz
8.Yasir
9.Amir
10.Abbas/SKHAN/Rahat
11.Wahab
11.

Performing in Pak domestic cricket means zilch. Haris is touted to be a saviour but I can guarantee you he will join the long list of flops.
Ridiculous batting, to say the least.
Again, it's what it is.
Going forward, what should be the line up?
I would like to have this
Sami
Azhar
Haris
Salahuddin(Worth, a look)
Babar(Should start at 5)
Sarfraz(Captain can't bat at 7)
Tallat/Fahim(3rd seamer, in sub continent. You need to have 5 bowlers)
But, knowing PCB. I can see this line up
Shehzad
Azhar
Babar
Hafeez
Asad
Sarfraz
Tallat
Asad shafiq vs Mohd Hafeez
Stats make an Interesting reading. Can't tell who is better. Hafeez for sure is better Bowling wise. Shafiq has some good innings overseas. But both have failed abundantly. but Batting is much easier at #6 then it is at opening. Which means Hafeez will make a better # 6 than Asad.
I would actually bring Azhar at #3 or #4. The Best Batsman has to bat at #4 for a weak batting side. for a very strong Batting line up, the Best bat can come at # 3. Openers have to face the new ball and fresh pumped up fast bowlers. Which results in dismissals. So Azhar and Babar have to form the Middle order. Sami Aslam should open with Ahmed Shehzad. Asad Shafiq can be tried at # 3. but If Shafiq does not become consistent he should be dropped. Haris Sohail, Fawad Alam & Imam ul haq should be given decent chance.
