The Australian sledging thread

Warner lost his spot for the biggest series we have, england just covered up for anderson as we could have done for warner.

Just two countries in particular i don't want to hear whinging about abuse and that is the indians and england, our lot are abusive and mostly unlikeable no doubt but england and india are as bad as anybody around, india in australia this summer were the most abusive team i think we have ever had on our shores.

The double standard with sledging is just tiresome anyway, the same people lining up to praise riaz sledging watson are the same who condemn watson and others for their sledging.

It's either always bad or always alright, you can't judge sledging purely by who is doing it.

I am sure you are familiar with the concept of instigation.

Wherever you go the instigator is usually held responsible and gets the stick for inciting such reactions. I know two wrongs do not make a right but sometimes you have to see who started the effing crap. Whats what Watson did.

I lived in England for four years, attended many matches. Great crowd. I don't think Pantani was lying, must have faced harsh behaviour from Australian towards Sri Lankans.

I never said that. Nobody in the crowd will give an away supporter a hard time. An away player is fair game however.

talent wise, this is the least talented Aussie side to win it

The stuff Starc can do with the ball or Smith with the bat and Maxwell with his crazy consistency of hitting. I'd take these least talented bunch over super talented players like Rohit/U Akmal/Shehzad any day. :)))

Cricket World Cup 2015: Australia’s triumph inspires respect but no love after our boys’ antics

AUSTRALIA are World Cup champions for a fifth time but, while respect for the team’s ability is undoubted, equally there is no widespread love or affection for our boys outside these shores.

It's clearly the sentiment of millions, not some PPers opinion on Pakpassion.

And who cares, so what, deal with it.

When are people going to learn, we don't care. If you want to cry when we win then go ahead and cry, we are sorry that you feel this way but its your problem not ours.

What is the difference between love and respect???

people are confusing rudeness with respect i guess !!

Just out of curiosity which team do you think is respected by neutrals more, Australia or Pakistan.

Respected as in intimidated/feared = Austrailia

Respected as in loved/appreaciated = all except big 3 :)

Sorry mate but your team are just a face palm waiting to happen, it just happens so often that nobody is really surprised when pakistan are mired is some scandal.

When you guys visit uae again we will provide another facepalm moment for you as well no worries

Good point as long as you win on the field who cares about all the other distractions people focus on....

Sledging will not get personal - Woakes

England all-rounder Chris Woakes says he does not expect the controversies that have overshadowed both team's build-up to the Ashes to be used as sledging.

English cricket is still reeling from allegations of institutional racism made by former Yorkshire spinner Azeem Rafiq, while Australia's preparations have been disrupted by Tim Paine's resignation as Test captain over a historical investigation into sexually explicit texts which he sent to a female colleague in 2017.

"Whatever goes on the field, goes on the field, and an Ashes series raises that rivalry," said Woakes.

"I think what's happened in both camps, a lot of the issues are personal and cricket is played best when that sort of stuff is left to the side and we let the skills do the talking, which I'm sure will happen.

"In my experience, playing in three Ashes series, it's not overstepped the line once when I've been around.

"I don't see it being any different. I'm sure the cricket will be hard fought, as it always is, and it will be a great series to watch."

Difficult to imagine the Ashes without a bit of quality sledging!

Wasim Akram speaking on a YT video:

“One time, one of our great batters was batting in Sydney. He was batting on 100 and I was batting with him. So, then I saw Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne abusing him in that Australian accent. I can’t say it on live TV. I told my partner ‘Listen, you know what they are saying, right?’

He said ‘Paaji, I can’t understand a thing they’re saying’. Later, I told the Australians, guys, if you are going to abuse anyone, make sure you do it in a language that the person understands,”

“As a fast bowler, I was always very confident. I have been smashed too, by Viv Richards, Adam Gilchrist, Sachin Tendulkar on his day, Brian Lara on his day, Ricky Ponting… but I never backed down. I played a pretty top quality of cricket throughout,” added Akram.
