You too were a batsman who coped well when the pressure was on. Do you think Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq can perform now that they are expected to lead Pakistan's batting unit?

Inzamam: Yes - I believe both should be able to stand up to the pressure, as they are best placed to take the responsibility of helping the team move forward.

Both Azhar and Asad performed well last year, although Azhar has had a few issues with his fitness recently, particularly with some problems with his knee. I am confident that in the future we will see that both of them will perform well and fulfil the responsibilities placed on them due to their seniority in the team.

Amazing, even Mickey has stated that he sees no issues with the pair so am guessing we will see both in the Pak team for a good few years to come!

They both deserve their spot TBH(even Shafiq).

Shafiq actually performed okay in the Tests against Ireland/England.

He has a hundred and 3 fifties in his last 5 matches.

Well I would like to see the pressure getting to them, to see how they do. Shafiq under pressure would interesting to see especially with Saad Ali and Usman Salahuddin on the wings waiting.

These guys will both be gone by the end of the year. Shafiq has been going downhill for a long time and he never plays well under pressure and when the team really needs him to do well. These 2 guys are very lucky that Pakistan does not play that many test matches, that they played under Misbah and that people generally tended to forget about their poor bad form after a gap, any other country and these 2 would have been discarded for better options a long time ago.

Didn't Shafiq almost chase 400+ against Australia in Australia?

After being dropped twice and choking as usual under pressure.

Not to mention, the valuable contributions of YK, Azhar Ali, Amir, Wahab, that all enabled us to post 400+.

You can't kick them out, they're still our best batsmen even if they're not amazing.

We're basically playing 4 newbie batsmen all at the same time, and Sarfraz isn't performing with the bat atm either.

It's an unfortunate situation, but not much you can do. The new guys have to step up and cement their place before you can kick those two out. They still average 39 and 45 which while not spectacular, is better than the others atm.

Azhar and Asad are the best batsmen we have and the most experienced. It would be foolish to kick them out.

these two are much better then the babar azams and haris sohails

Azhar is finished. We have seen his best which is behind him now, and it wasn’t good enough.

Shafiq is a middling player but he still merits a spot in the middle-order, but he needs to play with more intent.

Azhar would retire when he feels he is finished.
