Mausam and Bajrang are in Wrestling GOLD medal matches for men's 65 and 97 kg.

Divya and Pooja are in Wrestling semi-finals for women's 57 and 68 kg categories.

Can you list all the British Pakistani sports stars and the British Indians? I dont think you know.

India and Pakistan's sporting achivements have nothing to do what a British Pakistani or Indian Canadian does.

Pakistan the 6th most populous nation can't find one athlete to qualify for the Olympics. Some neglected 3rd tier Indian cities produce dozens. That's the comparison you should be looking for.

any of them won gold in CWG or Olympics?
ohh!! representing England is 10 times bigger achievement.
btw is it the same boxer who comes dancing like a MJ into the ring and gets knocked out by first punch?

Mitchell Starc's brother Brandon has won gold in the high jump.

For as long as he's been hovering in the national sporting consciousness, Brandon Starc has been more famous for being the brother of Mitchell, or a Game of Thrones character, than a high jumper.

While Mitchell was dismantling Test batting lineups around the world, and his namesake was warging into wolves and giants beyond the Wall, Brandon Starc was plugging away in track and field, claiming an eighth place here (Glasgow 2014), or a 15th place there (Rio 2016 Olympics) in international high jump.

But now, after an immaculate showing in front of a riveted home crowd, Starc claimed gold with a personal best jump of 2.32 metres — his first medal, let alone a gold, in a senior athletics meet.

Have Australia improved in Athletics or it's just because it is CWG? They never won these many GOLD in previous games ...

Wrestling gold for Bajrang. Final won 10-0 in a matter of seconds by technical superiority. :salute:

Seriously, research before you post. Australia has won more gold, silver and bronze than any country over the whole history of the games. Seriously, Australia a top 10 country at the Olympics and has 24 million people. Athletics they always good and they lost there best one in the female hurdles. Look at Australia at CWG and Olympics over the years and see how stupid your question is!! :) Australia not 100 or 200 metre sprinters but at athletics they are very good.

I hate dumb questions that are obvious to those that are not stupid!!!

Yes there is home advantage, but last time i checked it makes very little difference in athletics. Not that i would know much as a coach for 28 years.:)

India had 12 medals in New Delhi commonwealth games (2 gold 3 silver and 7 bronze) Go figure. You must be hell of a coach !!! :P We have not touched 5 medals in any other commonwealth games!

I doubt you have coached even the local peewee kids league!

My qstn was specific to Athletics, i do know they win more medals in CWG. Last 2 editions they won 8-10 GOLD, this time they have already won 10 n counting, seems like host nation advantage.

I dont know what peewee kids league is, but i know the years i have put into coaching:) im 48 today:) I see the kids i have coached from 6 years old go through the rep programs and make the national side:) Sport is for everyone, most of all you have to enjoy:)

We are so good at almost every sport we are dominating the Commonwealth Games.

India just got beaten by tiny little NZ in the hockey lol and they have a population of 1.3 billion.

Australia's population is 24 million.

Are we going to side step actual facts?

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-there-home-field-advantage-at-the-olympics/

Even though its not just athletics but athletics just like any other sport does provide a home advantage (at a lesser extent than most other sports)

CricTragic : Greece had 6 medals in Athens olympics in Athletics (a total of 15) while in 08 it became a ZERO medal in athletics and a total of 3 medals.

Home advantage always matters.

6th most populous country and we are amongst small islands in the medals tally. Thanks to democracy for destroying every single institution in the country. "Jamhooriat behtareen inteqaam hai" :zardari2

That being said, India has improved by leaps and bounds in sports in the last 10 years. I think a great deal of it is due to the number of leagues they have for badminton, wrestling etc that are following the IPL model. Still India is no where near where it should be because China and USA dwarf them in medals tally in Olympics however with the way they are headed they will start competing with them in a couple of decades.

New Zealand s per capita impact on sports, culture, etc is really surprising,I remember them winning world match competition sometime ago as well.

And they beat India in semis

Sad but no big deal , AUS is winning GOLD in men's hockey.

Pakistan like Iran should concentrate solely on Wrestling & Weight lifting, that will make sure few medals in Olympics because genetic advantage plays a part apart from infra.

China is around 15 years ahead of India, in just about every area. USA even further and probably around same when compared to China.. We have a long way to catch up...

India has done a quite a good job in multiple areas and it has everything to do with democracy which you obviously blame for conditions in Pak. My personal opinion is that communism and autocratic govt will not work in India due to insane amount of diversity in everything, income, color, race, culture, language, religion, etc. For good or bad India is stuck with democracy..

Why don't you compare India with Australai we have only 24 million people you will never catch USA or China.

Even Australia wins more golds than India in every sport.

Manika is in TT women's singles finals... fantastic comeback win from her after playing back to back matches in doubles, mixed doubles. Beats the much fancied Singapore player 4-3 :)

This girl is a star, we can expect more medals from her in Asian games/ Olympics!

Sanjeev wins GOLD in 50 m rifle 3 positions breaking games record! 19th for us, Amit loses in Boxing finals and settles for SILVER.

The comparison is not on equal scale when Swimming, athletics and cycling make up nearly 150 of 270 gold medals. Some countries have a brilliant legacy in these sports and hence rule the top of medal tables most of the time.

Neeraj wins 21st GOLD for India in Javelin throw.... he threw 86.5 which is better than 2016 Olympic bronze medalist!

He's a junior champion, we can expect medals from him in Asian/ Olympic games.

Saina vs Sindhu once and for all we will have a clear winner, although Sindhu is very young.

hmmm.. shooting, badminton, wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, table tennis.

Read somewhere, his worst throw was better than everyone's best throw. Is it right ?

If you discount the foul throw .... yes!! Throwers usually intentionally foul if a throw is poor! But he was a class apart at this level. Lets hope he does it at olympics too.

His current throw would have earned him a bronze at Rio olympics!! Hope he starts doing 90+ m and be a gold medal prospect!

Not talking about just the Commonwealth Games, talking about the Olympics we still dominate regardless if it's swimming etc.

Australia is a very competitive country we compete with the big boys. We have dominated hockey as well for decades now.

For a country as tiny as Australia compared to India and China we do very well, we are always in the top 10.

I understand India has no sporting culture but it's good to see Indian women competing now as well.

Whatever sport Australia competes in we are always competitive.

Yes, he was better than all other finalists, threw 86.5.

2008 olympics top 3
Gold -> 90, Silver -> 86, Bronze -> 86
2012 olympics top 3
Gold -> 84, Silver -> 84, Bronze -> 83
2016 olympics top 3
Gold -> 90, Silver -> 87, Bronze -> 85

He is a serious olympic competitor.

Unreal dominance from Neeraj Chopra.

Four of his attempts were way ahead of the Silver winner's best.

This is elite even for Olympic level ! :salute:

Then phrase your sentence properly, you said all games. I listed a decent list where Indians outshine Australians by a decent margin. But for you those sports don't exist it seems.

Keep shifting goal posts. or do you need sandpaper to polish your replies!! :P:yk2

You won a solo silver and bronze in athletics 2016 olympics, try to better that next time :)

Would have won him Gold in 2012 London Olympics, and that too by a distance of over 2 metres!

This is my proudest medal this Commonwealth.

The best thing I see is a lot of national and personal bests being achieved by Indian sportspersons. A decent number of world class performers ( shooters, badminton, wrestling, javelin throw). a bit of disappointment in hockey.

Well we just beat you guys in the boxing for the gold medal lol.

And we have another two coming up in the gold medal rounds lol.

A population your country's size should really be embarrassed for your performance in sports.

How the mighty have fallen?? From beating India at " all sports" we are going to cherry pick results. India has better medal tally at Boxing so far!

The population argument doesn’t matter majority of the population don’t play sports at competitive level.. Training facilities and sporting culture in developed nations will ensure they will produce top notch athletes.. India is still far far away from being a sporting nation would take atleast 2 decades and after that we might see good competition at the highest level..

For now I am happy we are doing well in CWG..

And India how many Olympic golds have you guys won? lol

You should stop comparing your results with us and do it against SK, Japan, U.K. , France and Germany.

Lol at population comparison ... check per capita and average life style of an Aussie with south Asian families. As far as that boxing 🥊 gold it was a split decision and we know how host nations win these close calls :)

Plenty of sandpaper being sold in Australia :runaway:

Golden opportunity for Pak to win it's first Gold medal.
Pak wrestler in final of men's 86kg.

You must be a Desi guy gone Australia. Usually Australian wouldn't compare them with sub continent people. It's pretty obvious that besides cricket, other games haven't been given the attention they required. If you talk to kids in subcontinent, if they want to become a spotsman, they mostly want to be a cricketer.

With India starting to win so many medals, some of the young guys will definitely shift attention to these games. These sports will attract more and more people increasing competition and thus increasing quality.

Desi gone foreign countries easily bash their countries (mostly Pakistanis). But the countries are trying do their best with whatever resources and pool of athletes they have. So you being an Australian and laughing at the country of your origin is quite a funny thing.

While some Pakistani gone Aussi are hailing success of Australia, Pakistan's Mohammed Inam Butt has won a gold medal in wrestling defeating his opponent by 6-0

Was appalled to see Indian wrestlers who won gold medals offering massages to each other because IOA couldn't bother to appoint a physio. It's a miracle we are still standing at 3rd position on the table.
