ISLAMABAD: The successful holding of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan is a great achievement of the government which testifies to the prevalence of better law and order situation in the country; an outcome of the policies pursued in conformity with the vision of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the present democratic government.

Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History & Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

She said that the scourge of terrorism was ebbing away due to the cooperation of the provincial governments and the sacrifices offered by the Armed Forces of Pakistan, adding that the martyrs had lit lights of peace with their blood.

The minister reiterated that as a consequence of the forwarding look, far-sighted and prudent policies pursued by the government, the country was galloping on the path of sustained development. She said that the life in the country had recaptured its usual throbs and peace after emerging from the challenges that were inherited in 2013 as well as an end to the darkness that engulfed its horizons.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the present government had redeemed all the pledges that it made in its manifesto whereas the previous government merely relied on hollow slogans.

The minister said that the arrival of international players in Lahore for the revival of sports activities was made possible by the personal interest of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which had boosted the national spirit.

She appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab government to provide fool-proof security during the PSL matches and invaluable efforts made by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi for the revival of cricket in the country.

She said that the spirit and enthusiasm exuded by the citizens, who turned up to watch the match, was very much appreciated.

Aurangzeb said that the people of Lahore staying true to their traditions, extended tumultuous welcome to the foreign players who came to participate in the PSL matches and they would always cherish the memories of that in their hearts.

We seen the Punjab governments security performance in 2009 when the Sri Lankan team was attacked. All credit goes to Pakistan army for PSL security.

She is right, I heard the crowd chant" Go Nawaz Go" today, they were clearly cheering him on for his great work.

Ironic that you mention the army considering that the people found responsible for the SL team attack were associated with an organization the army still openly supports to this day (Lashkar e Jhangvi, in case you were wondering). The attackers were facilitated by Jamat e Islami, laying low at their safe house in the days leading up to the attack. This is why they say incomplete knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge at all.

Your logic is illogical. Another accusation on the army but why am I suprised. I am stating facts and you suggesting made up stories. You would do anything to defame the army. You can not take it that we Pakistanis admire the army. Rok sakta ho tho rok lo :p; Pakistan army zindabad!

Made up? To what end? Why would I do anything to defame the army? How does that benefit me in any way? If anything, that puts me at risk considering I live in Pakistan and the army's tendency of making their critics disappear, not to mention my anti army stance alienates members of my family who serve or have served in that institution.

You are stating no facts here. You are spewing the same pro army propaganda that every Pakistani, including myself, grows up with and few manage to look past. Evidence of army's involvement with that particular organization, including but not limited to photographic evidence of high ranking army officials living it up with high ranking SSP leaders, has been shared on at least three occasions because another pro army drone with a similarly limited perspective like yours kept asking for it on various threads. Feel free to dig up those threads.

Lol no.It is merely luck that Lahore was the host of the international games and the PSL.If the games were held in Karachi or Peshawar, the same amount of security would have been provided/Would she have given credit to Zardari/IK then?

The woman is giving credit to the government of a man who is not only not in government, but legally barred from holding any public office and you're worried if she'll give credit to Zardari/T.Khan? This is some next level dishonesty, calling the government "Nawaz Government" as if he's still the PM.

I'm not worried about that.Just pointing out the hypocrisy of this woman. She is a major leader for PMLN but is one of the most stupid.Of course she'll come out with illogical statements like these in support of the Godfather.

Yar these bullcrap statements fed to her by her advisors won't work now. This is not the 80's/90's anymore.

Folks have given up on them & are tired of this un-necessary "talwa chatna" crap. Nawaz dumbo isn't even in power & keeps whining mujhe kyun nikala & we supposed to be grateful to him & his sidekicks? They never did anything for punjab other than lahore despite in power for 3 decades. Nothing can save them in elections this time

She is right I'm Afraid

Under the godfather nawaz and raheel sharif and now bajwa security has been improved across Pakistan , ttp have been smashed and gangsters in Karachi mopped up . No one can deny this

Prior to them was zardari kiani where Taliban were on outskirts of Islamabad
Karachi was a killing zone

And under Musharraf same problem of attacks and Pakistan army surrendering on several occasions in waziristan

Difference between 2013 and 2018 is peace in Karachi: Maryam

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz congratulated the nation on peaceful Karachi and said that it was the difference between 2013 and 2018.

She said that international cricket had been restored in Pakistan due to the efforts of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. In a social media message, Maryam Nawaz said, “International cricket returns to Karachi that once was a terror stricken city. Thank you Nawaz Sharif. Even PPP govt couldn’t do it.”

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said the people and security forces had rendered matchless sacrifices for restoration of peace in the country.

She said the successful conduct of PSL in Karachi was an evidence of it becoming a ‘City of Lights’ again. In a statement on Sunday she said the enthusiasm of people of Karachi was worth seeing as the city had come out of the reign of fear and was back on its lively galore.

She said due to PML-N government’s efforts the country had become a cradle of peace. Welcoming the foreign as well as national players Marriyum Aurangzeb said their arrival had not only revived sports activities in Pakistan but also added to the zest and fervour of our people. She prayed for lasting peace in the country and successful conclusion of the mega cricketing event.
