Athanasios John Traicos was born in Egypt whos father was Greek and mother was Lebanese. He was first nationalised as an Egyptian.

He moved with his parents to South Africa and changed his citizenship to South African and was chosen to play for South Africa

South Africa was than isolated from international cricket and Traicos moved to Zimbabwe which at time was called Rhodesia. He got a Rhodesian citizenship and was selected to play for Rhodesia. Colonial Rhodesia collapsed and the country was called Zimbabwe

Traicos than went to New Zealand where he tried to get New Zealand citizenship. When he failed to get a kiwi citizensip he returned to Zimbabwe

He got selected for the Zimbabwe national side

Today he lives in Australia with an Australian citizensip
