As we're lacking aggressive/proper batsman in our XI, this is one questions that doesnt let me sleep. UA even in horrible form was capable of giving painta to quality teams at times. But due to sudden failing of fitness test, he was exchanged with a guy who hasnt played a single game in CT. Is Haris fit to replace Azhar, Hafeez or Imad in XI? If no then why was he sent to Eng when previous one was claimed to be kicked out because of poor fitness? Or there's a part that we're missing? I know he doesnt learn and all other things but can see the logic behind this switch when you only had 1-2 aggressive options in your squad.

Enough of this attacking bs.

If by attacking you mean hoicking the ball straight into the hands of midwicket, then yes, he's an attacking batsman.

Harris passed his fitness tests, Umar on the other hand his failed his last SEVEN.

Yes there is no attacking batsman like him. ( though I could probably average 21 if I played 40 games over 3 years)
But the decision was made on principle. The worst thing is Mickey actually wants to give him a chance but the fool does not want it enough himself.
Coming to Haris , it's been a game and a half of batting only, and now hafeez is bowling again it's hard to get in that middle order. So he is around in case there is an injury basically, which is fine. It's not like there has been 3 or 4 games of someone constantly failing in there that Harris must get a game

^ so I'd only pick haris if he is looking a million dollars in the nets or there is an injury

I basically agree, but i also recognise an Umar Akmal given a kick up his *** at 26 will be far more useful to Pakistan over the long haul than if allowed to walk into the side after repeated incidents of being unfit. He still has time to redeem his career in my opinion, but it's been proven time and again we're definitely not going to get anything out of him unless he's forced to learn the hard way.

I appreciate most PP'ers have written him off, but i still have the faintest hope he will see the error in his ways, make a come back, and win matches for Pakistan.

We have tried him a lot in finishers role but he doesnt have the right temperament to finish the games.

Yes he can hit a few on his day, though I wont mind him to be tried as opener, he is technically good enough against fast bowling and secondly fielders will also be inside the circle for the first 10 overs.

Given the strokes he have its worth the risk for 10 matches by telling him this is what you are gonna get.

Time to give Harris a go. Umer is a tried and tasted failure.

Non-inclusion of Haris is due to presence of indispensable Hafeez in the middle order than anything else. He is not likely to get a single game even in this CT. One can only hope that he is retained in 15 men squad after CT.

And less said about Akmals the better. No one has been more detrimental to Pakistan Cricket than this clan. Period.

Agree completely. Can't bat much worse than we already are. Like many others have suggested, wish we could actually "think out of the box" and open him alongside Fakhar. The fitness stuff is BS imo

U akmal does not do his job.he is a disappointment and all that he wants to do is take revenge

Really confused about this. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but whatever the squad, you play your best XI. And generally we have tended to do that, even if fans didn't agree with the squad.

Haris could replace either Azhar or Hafeez. If he replaced Azhar, He could slot in middle order and have Sarfraz or Hafeez open. Haris probably could even open himself, has decent enough technique and game to do it. Even if we use the excuse that we need Hafeez for his bowling (which quite frankly is not up to par anymore and wasn't even used in the India game), Haris could easily replace Azhar. Personally I would have replaced both, Azhar with Haris, letting Sarfraz open, and Hafeez with Fahim, promoting Imad to 6. I'd rather a better batsman than Imad played at 6, but with the squad and in terms of building for the future that would do for now.

Really would like to know after the tournament is concluded whether Haris was really match fit or not. If he wasn't, then why was he sent, stupid of selectors. If he was, blame is on coach most likely to why he wasn't selected. Or worse if there are other people involved influencing the decision, we've got to look into this. Just doesn't make sense at the moment, and we're not getting the full story.

disagree with this. We've got two weak links in our batting Hafeez and Azhar atm. There seems no reason to take a risk and put Haris in. Wouldn't even feel like a risk tbh. Hafeez especially looks so scratchy out there, does not look like a man in form.

Only in Pakistan a player calibre of Umar Akmal is wasted. If he is not working as a finisher then try him as an opener. Its not like we have Tendulker and Hayden opening the batting for us. We keep changing our openers every other game then why not Umar Akmal and give him free hand to play his shots? Umar Akmal should have been used as a pinch hitter long time ago.

It's not like it's the first time that Pakistan selectors would select someone who would not play even one game on the tour and end up getting dropped afterwards. At least 2 recent examples I remember are of Ammad Butt and Asif Zakir. Haris Sohail is the next on this casuality list. We'd sadly never know if he ever was fit or not.

We have a strange habit of going with "Winning Combination", which frankly I've always failed to understand. We perform with the help of 3/4 individuals and keep on beating dead weight of rest of non-performers just on pretext of this Winning Combination. This is the first time in ages that we have just 2 of such non performers in midst, still getting rid of these 2 is becoming as hard as it gets.

I swear the only reason you are on this forum are to promote case of Akmal clan. And I've had this deduction after just a few active weeks. This is a lost cause man. You'd be better off finding some new motive to get through life.

Mickey wanted to make an example out of UA that irrespective of your talent, reputation, if you dont conform to the team standards you will be dropped.

Well hopefully umar amal will be back after champions instead of Azhar or mediocre shahzad he should be given a go at top but I don't think he has opened before even in domestic cricket apart from 2 games in CPL.Obviously he is much better than Hafeez Azhar(Odis) and shehzad.

He is a key bowler to lefties. SL have 3 in topb7

And un out of form you will be bought back to warm the benches?

Was more valuable against SA on paper than SL. If we do want Hafeez, then drop Azhar. I see no reason for both. Hafeez doesn't occupy the allrounder spot anymore, Imad does at 7. So Hafeez needs to step up with the bat (his bowling isnt as good as it used to be too). Before Hafeez allowed us to play an extra batsman with his bowling, now it seems he's taking up a batsman place due to his bowling. Not good really.
