In this thread name as many spinners as you can think of who are,well,non-turning (just like the title).

I don`t have anything against them in general but it is ever so boring to watch them no matter how effective they might be.The ball going straight on over after over, signifies everything missing in the genuine excitement of cricket.Quality bowling is far more exciting than yet another lame 65m Six.

I am talking about spinners who somehow have this ability to defy the laws of physics.
I am a supporter of Zulfi so I will present my defense here.He can turn the ball and I have seen him do it consistently against LHs.Against RHs I think he intentionally bowls straighter as an attacking line.He does not really qualify for this honor.
Bowlers like Hafeez,Senenyake and Afridi are more like it.

Steve O'keefe didn't turn a single ball during the recent series in which I saw him. Most of the left armers don't turn the even herath bowls without turn most of the times.

Steve O'Keefe and his two mystery balls- the one that doesn't turn and the one that doesn't turn in the other direction

"They should be banished from the first-class game. It winds me up, if you are a spinner, spin the ball," Swann told Reuters.
I agree with Swann on this.No matter how effective a non turning spinner is but I don't enjoy watching them.

Moen Ali does not turn the ball much.

Axar Patel is a darter. Same as Bhajji.

Jaddu and Karn Sharma do not turn the ball at all.

I am compiling the names of the bowlers mentioned so far. With one addition to the list -

Chris Gayle + Sir Jadeja, Dan Vettori, Afridi, Steve O Keefe, Hafeez, Moeen Ali, Axar Patel

How about Dilshan?

:))) Nice one! Hope he doesn't get called for his mystery ball.

Axar
jaddu
Raina
Prasanna
Root
Sohail
Pieterson

Turning spinners need to put a lot of effort on the ball, therefore their accuracy suffers and this is why you don't see many big spinning bowlers. Even if you do, they are probably Offies or Left arm spinners and not Chinaman or Leggies.

Actually I have never understood why Bhajji can`t turn it.His seam postion is impeccably upright and he puts a good number of revolutions on it.

that's not really a mystery though

It is, imagine a batsman waiting for 2 of his mysterball that you mentioned earlier and all of a sudden a mystery ball comes straight and BAMMMMMMMMM (stumps knocked over/LBW causing patella fracture). It is a mystery ball that isn't a mystery till it gets you.

Samuel Badree is my choice.what a bowler in t20s.he was underrated due to narine.i think he will do better as now he will be leader of the spin department for W.I.
5 WICKETs in bigbash for him today inculding wicket of pieterson and luke wright

O Keefe and Doherty . I haven't seen either of them turn a single ball. Ajmal with his modified action :))

Venkatesh prasad and Javagal Shrinath are 1st two names that come to mind.

OK. ..you can make a great career in analysis !!

Thanks, i never really saw prasad bowl a ball that turned, his quickish offspinners always seem to go straight on. Srinath was in the same mould.

Bhajji, Afridi, Hafeez do spin it well

Mendis has 20 variations, which all go straight

Anil Kumble didn't turn it much and he was actually entertaining to watch to

With Kohli the example
