The first First Asian Captain to beat Australia in Australia?

Even though it seems a little unlikely, Pakistan under Misbah ul Haq have a genuine chance to win the series and perhaps the best ever chance for an Asian captain. It'll be a real pity if they don't come close to it.

Misbah Ul Haq has formed a team so strong that on paper, they are incapable of losing. The top 7 consist of all batsmen averaging over 40, jam packed with two triple centurions, the experience of Misbah and Younis, the agility of Sarfraz and his ability to score quick, Asad Shafiq with the unique ability to bat with the tail and Babar Azam who is already being considered a prodigy. This is undoubtedly the strongest ever batting line up Pakistan has ever played with.

The bowling attack consists of perhaps the fastest bowler in the world, not the best, but the fastest for sure who may not have all the abilities but is ready to give his best shot. Someone who's ready to run in and bowl fast time and again. No matter how flat pitches in Australia are currently, they always have more than just something to offer to men who are ready to bowl at express pace. Then there is Mohammad Amir who has been considered to be somewhat of a virtuoso for 6 years now. He is not only get his rhythm back but has also showed signs of his swing coming back. The third seamer is always an interesting position and Paksitan, on paper, have guys more than able to fill the spot, Sohail, despite his fitness issues has shown some serious gut bowling in England. Not to forget his batting ability is more than just ordinary for a tailender. The other option, Rahat Ali has already shown, that on his day, he can be the best bowler from both sides.

Then we have the mastermind, the genius Yasir Shah. Yasir Shah who the greatest spin bowler of all time, Shane Warne, said was easily the best spinner in the word. But, Shah has proved it and is the strongest person in the lineup and easily has proved to be the difference between two sides time and again.

To top it all off, they're being led by the supreme commander, the skipper, the Leader. Someone who's faced all sorts of criticism and does to this day and has yet proved to be the best captain to have come out of Asia. Someone who defied all the odds, fought against all hegemony and has made sure to prove his dominance. He is the cherry on top, the icing on the cake. If someone can do it, its Misbah.

But, up to this point, I sound very all talk and no action. If we speak analytically, Australia are in a vulnerable position, which paves way for Pakistan to kill the wounded tiger. Australia are coming back from a series whitewash in Sri Lanka and another series defeat at home (which could also be a whitewash). Their captain is young and there is already talk of him not being capable of being able to fit the bill. Their best bowler, Starc is not fully fit and may not even be fit to play Pakistan considering there is doubt about him playing the third test against RSA. Their opener is, despite being a world class player, somewhat of a hack and can sometimes go very wrong. Rest of team is not even assured of their position.

Darren Lehman, the Aussie coach has said that only 4 players will stay in the team, so obviously, new players (probably of inferior ability) will be under serious pressure to perform and may fall under pressure and likely fail.

Most importantly, like a Newspaper already published today, Aussie fans are angry with their team. I seriously doubt they'll be backing them to win against Pakistan (no.2) if they lose the third and final test to RSA (no.5). So, the Australian will also not able to gain complete benefit of home advantages and would be under serious pressure against a stronger Pakistan team.

Even though Pakistan (and all Asians) have always found it extremely tough to win even a test in Australia, I seriously believe that chances like the one Pakistan has right now, do not come every day and Pakistan surely, under Misbah ul Haq, have the ability to defy the odds and win the series here. They are up and roaring. If they win vs New Zealand, there will be a further boost in their confidence and the probability of them winning will increase.

All Pakistan needs to do now is play with their heads held up high, hold on to their catches and play Captain's farewell series and give him something to be proud of.

This is the best chance we will ever have of winning down under.
