The result was death.

My Mama's (mother's younger brother) wife passed away 2 days ago due to Covid. She was the first victim as well as the first fatality in our family due to Covid.

Here's the story. My Mami's (Mama's wife) father is 84 years old. He contracted Covid and is still in critical condition. My Mama and Mami were strictly at home all the time due to the fear of contracting Covid. But when my Mami's father was critical, my Mama had to go to the hospital to enquire about him. He contracted Covid on the way. And from him, his wife (my Mami) contacted Covid as well.

Within a span of 4 days my Mami's health deteriorated, and she was admitted to the ICU. The next day she was put on ventilator support.

The day after that, my mother received a call from my Mama early morning who was wailing, telling my mother that he received a call from the doctor telling him that my Mami's heart rate was faltering. Within 2 hours she was no more.

It's heartbreaking. Their 24 year old son was a complete mamma's boy. Both my Mama and his son were completely dependent on my Mami in their day to day life.

The worst bit is that they live in Delhi, while we live in Guwahati. If they lived here, my mother would have managed everything. But since we are so far apart, my mother can't do anything other than provide lip support.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would lose a member of my family due to Covid. Now that it has happened, I'm trying to come to terms with it.

My request to everyone here - Please, please, please get vaccinated as soon as possible. I don't want the same thing happening to any member of my PP family.

Please accept my sincerest condolences...This is really sad...Hope god gives you strength to cope up with this huge loss.

Really sorry for your loss Hitman. I lost my uncle (father's elder brother) to covid last year during the first wave. He was very normal even during the day of his death but suffered from sudden cardiac arrest and couldn't be revived. So I know what you're talking about.

Just now I heard the news of my best friend's dad passing away to covid. It all seems so gloomy now with hearing bad news almost every day. Hopefully we get over this deadly pandemic. And yes, vaccination is about the only thing we can hope at this point in time.

Sincere condolences.
I lost my father from covid in Jan and could have lost my wife but she fought back. Its a really evil disease testing times for all of humanity regardless of race or religion

Condolences. You should be absolutely furious at Modi's incompetence.

Condolences, a really tough day.

If it is not too much to ask, how old was she? did she have any other illness?

Very very sorry for your loss, condolences to you and your family.

Sorry to hear that man. Condolences to the family.
These days when we have whatsapp and whatnot, there is no need to physically visit the covid patients. You can always make a video call. It's the next best alternative we have.

Two guys in India that report to me got sick with Covid. Both were hospitalized, but luckily both recovered.

EXTREME caution is required. It's a no brainer.

So sorry Hitman.

Please, please, everyone take the vaccine when offered, protect yourselves and those close to you.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

My Mami (my mom's first cousin's wife, that part of the family is closely knit) had passed away from covid as well last year. She was only 37-38, our family is still shook about how fast it happened.

Everyone should be looking to get vaccinated ASAP!

My sincerest condolences Hitman. I pray for support and strength for your family to deal with this very sad loss.

I just got an appointment for the first dose of the vaccine. I request that all of you do the same.

Condolences to you and your family.

It is a truly heartbreaking experience to watch families and friends lose their loved ones to COVID.

Condolences for your loss. Hope God gives you and your family strength to go through this tough time.

So sorry to hear of your loss. May she rest in peace and may your family find the strength to get through this very difficult time.

Thanks a lot everyone. Your condolences mean a lot to me in this difficult time.

So sorry to hear that Hitman and I pray that you and your family will have all the strength to deal with this.

It puts everything into perspective. We all get so worried and stressed about the small things in life but nothing is more important than our health and the health of those we love. Covid is just horrible in every way but inshallah one day we will all look back at this as something humanity was able to defeat. Until then, stay strong my man!

In America, anyone 16+ can get vaccinated. Most people I know have been vaccinated, feel bad for at risk people in third world countries - they deserve it more than younger people here in the west

I am so sorry to hear :(

My wife and I contracted Covid here in the UK last December, and I must tell we had the worst 3 weeks of our life fighting the virus. We had no underlying health conditions and yet it was a hard time.

Thanks for educating people. Sadly a lot of people are still taking this very very lightly.

Hitman , sorry to hear about your loss. At present a lot of luck factor is tied to COVID especially in places like Delhi.

Hitman - sorry to hear about your loss, know what you feel. fact that we can do nothing is what trobes us more.
I cremated an uncle in Dubai last month and it tore me apart. Just wish that this thing stops here

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Please, please everyone - Take the vaccine if offered. It is not just you, but you taking the vaccine may save others as well.

Thanks, guys. Your messages gives me the inspiration to never give up.
