The flaws of holding open trials for youth cricketers

Rashid Latif on TV mentioned something very importamt. It is a flawed strategy to have an open trials of U13 and U16s instead of having a proper tournament then selecting the best performing players.


Open trials invites nepotism, connections and politics.

I heard there is so much politics in that. Only clubs with political clout get their U16 or U13 players selected. There should be some kind of school cricket or club cricket at U16 and U13 of each regional team

Open trails is not the way.

We need to age test with dental tests before they can participate otherwise there will be supposed 28 year olds who are actually 33 and nearing the end of their careers.

That's why I have noticed many players when they get to 28 years old they start to decline

We need to age test everyone entering the system.

I don't see why he can't be 16? You guys are seriously out of touch with ages. Maybe you guys are too old and have forgotten how teenagers looked in your younger days. I had a friend who at 14 (legitimate age, born and raised in a western country) had more facial hair than this guy in the picture.

no one does anything about age fudging, unless pcb start banning players for doing it, but that would mean losing the whole first xi. not gonna happen.

just a quick glance and u know pbly 3 or 4 in the first team have fudged by significant amounts.

It's like you don't understand that there is variance in the world Not all people that are the same age look the same. Ridiculous that I even have to point this out. Back to that friend I was talking about, we're both now 20, he keeps a proper full beard while mine still barely grows. That doesn't make me 15 years old and him 25. Again, it's called variance and genetics.
