PCB announces schedule of Talent Hunt Programme

Open trials for age-group cricketers will begin from 20 November.

Pakistan Cricket Board today announced details of U13, U16 and U19 trials for the selection of regional and Inter-District teams.

The players selected in the U13 and U16 categories will be eligible to take part in regional tournaments for the 2023-24 season, while those selected for the U19 category will feature in inter-district tournament for season 2024-25.

Players born on or after 1 September 2010 and before 1 September 2014 will be eligible for selection in the U13 squads, while players born on or after 1 September 2007 and before 1 September 2011 will be eligible for selection in the U16 sides.

For the U19 category, players born on or after 1 September 2005 and before 1 September 2009 will be eligible for selection.

The players of all age-group are required to carry their B-forms at the trials. At the time of wrist tests, the selected players are required to present their smart cards for age verification.

The following 16 regions (districts in brackets) will participate in the three age-group tournaments.

Abbottabad Region (Abbottabad, Buneer, Dir Upper, Haripur, Mansehra, Mardan and Swabi)

AJK Region (Bagh, Kotli, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch)

Bahawalpur Region (Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur)

Faisalabad Region (Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Kasur, Mianwali and Sargodha)

FATA Region (Bajour, Bannu, DI Khan, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Tank)

Hyderabad Region (Badin, Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Thatta)

Islamabad Region (Central Zone, East Zone, Gilgit Baltistan, North Zone and West Zone)

Karachi Region (Zones I – VII)

This is a ready admission that PCB's system does not work.

We should have kids coming through a proper system not these random trials.

Inter-Region U13 One-Day Tournament set to commence on Thursday

The National Inter-Region U13 tournament consisting of 16 teams, is set to begin on Thursday, 1 February in three different cities across the country. 240 players will take part in the tournament.

The competition will see a total of 39 matches while each match will consist of 30 overs.

PKR 930,000 prize money will be distributed at the end of the tournament with the winner taking PKR 500,000, and runners-up will bag PKR 250,000. The player of the tournament, best bowler, batter, wicket-keeper, fielder and man of the final match will get PKR 30,000 each.

The 16 regional teams are divided into three pools.

The Pool A games will take place in Karachi, while the Pool B games are scheduled to take place in Faisalabad. Pool C games will be staged in Lahore. At the end of the group stage, each top team from the three pools will advance to the Triangular stage which will be followed by a final.

The triangular stage and final will be held in Faisalabad from 15 to 19 February.

Just look at the prize money they are giving do you think any talented youngsters will join these tournament and quit studying for 30k PKR?

Just increase it 10 times and then you will start getting more talent
 
U13 Skills Development Camp commences tomorrow

A total of 46 players are set to take part in the U13 Skills Development Camp, which begins on Monday at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High Performance Center in Multan. The camp is set to run from 4 to 11 March.

The National Junior selection committee led by Sohail Tanvir has shortlisted players based on their performances in the recently concluded National U13 One-Day Tournament 2023-24. The players include 18 batters, 16 spinners, nine fast bowlers and three wicket-keepers.

The camp will focus on developing game awareness and skill development among the young players. Hafiz Sajjad Akbar will lead a 12-member support staff contingent. Former Test Cricketer, Aizaz Cheema will be the assistant coach while Saeed Bin Nasir will have the role of batting coach.

Former Pakistan women international Nahida Khan will perform the duty of assistant batting coach. Former Test fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed will serve as the fast bowling coach.

Head coach NCA, Shahid Anwar: “This U13 skills development camp is a vital step towards safeguarding the future of the young talent in the country. The idea is to work on basic skill enhancement and educate the players on their game sense while at the same time teaching them to play fearless cricket.”
