Simple thread.

What has happened in the World Cup so far that has surprised you or didn't go as you have expected.

I will start.

1. Surprised by Shakib being the leading run scorer currently. If someone from Bangladesh team would have been the leading run scorer I would have thought it would be Tamim because of his usual performances in England.

2. Surprised by Rashid Khan, Hasan Ali and Dre Russ performances so far.

3. Surprised by where SA is currently standing in the tournament.

Very shocking.

Don't know what happened to him. Maybe he's still mentally shook from that concussion. He is far too good a bowler to be battered the way he was today.

Yes I think so too, he’s way too good of a bowler to be tonked like this. I don’t think he is mentally ready, we have seen what happened to Amla, it seems like he forgot to bat and Khwaja after being hit by Dre Russ, doesn’t look like his old self.

Surprised by the fact that people have completely written off Pakistan, when they know what they are capable of and have done in the past.

Bangladesh defeating South Africa and West Indies, in the race for qualification.

England not able to score 400 till now.

Shakib Al Hasan is currently the best player in the tournament.

Highest and 3rd highest wicket taker of the tournament currently, were both not part of PCB's and ECB's initial squads respectively.

Trent Boult not amongst the leading wicket takers.

Shoaib Malik reaching a lower level than an 14 averaging record player could have done.

Hasan Ali getting so bad.

There are several mentioned, but hardly anyone really surprised me that much. Shakib already was world's best all-rounder and once he was slotted at 3, he was expected to shine, because his 10 overs are among best in contemporary world. BD's performance is good, but I already knew our batting will surprise few and that line-up has Miraz at 9 ........ Liton has the potential to be our best batsman, not surprised at all.

If I am to pick one genuine surprise - it has to be Saifuddin. I wasn't sure if the kid should start or not, but he is among the top wicket takers, has bowled well with new ball, very good at the death and he has batted as well. If this guy can become consistent, he'll be an asset for BD team for next 12+ years.

Hasan Ali' s performances- i know they were bad before but this is a new low.
