KARACHI – Imaan Z Hazari, daughter of the Minister of Human Rights in Pakistan, Shireen Mazari is unapologetically is blunt and pretty bold in nature. Imaan Hazari is known for saying what’s in her heart without shying away from anything and that is what often keeps her in the news.

Recently, Imaan has responded bluntly to the tweet of Governor of Sindh about Cricket legend Shahid Afridi and it is making headlines all over the country. This time, its Imaan Mazari’s comment on cricketing legend Shahid Afridi that has made headlines all over.

Imaan Mazari had re-tweeted Imran Ismail’s picture where he shared space with Shahid Afridi and Squash champion Jahangir Khan and referred to both of them as legends and had straightened denied by the Governor remarks for former ace cricketer Shahid Afridi.

Here is the post by Governor of Sindh:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">With legends <a href="https://t.co/NKL3fk1yOr">pic.twitter.com/NKL3fk1yOr</a></p>— Imran Ismail (@ImranIsmailPTI) <a href="https://twitter.com/ImranIsmailPTI/status/1114775530417655810?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 7, 2019</a></blockquote>

Now, let’s have a look at Imaan’s response to Imran Ismail’s post:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Shahid Afridi isnt a legend. He's an open & proud misogynist, who didn't have the decency to say one kind word abt our women's cricket team (instead saying that Pakistani women cook really well when asked a question abt the women's cricket team). Re-evaluate & re-orient please. <a href="https://t.co/2UwpZbRVGg">https://t.co/2UwpZbRVGg</a></p>— ایمان زینب (@ImaanZHazir) <a href="https://twitter.com/ImaanZHazir/status/1114798065544777728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 7, 2019</a></blockquote>

Imaan most probably gave these comments referring to an interview of Shahid Afridi where he had shared his thoughts about women cricket in Peshawar, said that “our women have great taste in their hand when they cook.” Upon questioning by the interviewer about what he meant, Afridi said that he had given his answer that women could only make good food.

UK’s Country Director for Shahid Afridi Foundation, Saima Khan also schooled Imaan for making baseless claims without even knowing the person. She shared her personal experience with Shahid Afridi, terming him very supportive and encouraging.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This is the same Shahid Afridi who had asked me to join his team; he’s always supported & encouraged me with regards to my ideas & projects & to openly speak my mind. Try getting the perspective of people that actually know him instead of making your own judgements? <a href="https://t.co/QONnn04cwO">https://t.co/QONnn04cwO</a></p>— Saima Khan (@saimaxkhan) <a href="https://twitter.com/saimaxkhan/status/1115090000708636672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 8, 2019</a></blockquote>

Till now, Shahid Afridi and Imran Ismail have not responded to Imaan’s tweet.

I don't view Shahid Afridi as a legend on purely cricketing terms - someone who was appointed captain but ran like a hare in the middle of a tough tour does not deserve such a label.

If the comments by Afridi on the womens team in Peshawar are as reported in the article then that's awful.

This Iman ZHazir lady is getting, unnecessarily, triggered.

Afridi is a legend, a proud father and I don't consider him a misogynist.

Not defending Afridi's comments but calling him a misogynist is way over the top. By that definition majority of men in Pakistan would be misogynists. Gender roles in Pakistan will take time to change. You cant use western standards to judge someone who grew up in a conservative environment in a developing country.

So growing up in a Pakistani family I can assure you one thing:

The middle class and rich Pakistani women play the life in tutorial mode. They have everything so easy and on a silver platter. Their fathers teat em like princesses; they can study whatever and until whenever they want; they don't have to look for a job and if they ain't ugly they easily get decent rishtas. Their life is easy peasy imo. I have seen it within my family and friends.

Partly agree with you but to be fair this only applies to the educated upper middle class or above which represents a tiny proportion of our population.

Even Islam states the women's primary duty is taking care of the house, her husband, after that comes everything else, the Husband is the bread earner.

Have seen women conveniently play the women card and use the "Husband is the bread earner, i am not responsible card", to "I deserve every right and freedom that he gets" whenever it suits them.

Don't see anything wrong with it tbh. Have u ever seen a man saying that i don't want to work, i'll do the house chores. Imagine what people would say to that guy.

Bro, the length some of our family friends have gone to for their daughters is maybe 1/20th of what they ever did for their sons. And most of them are not rich.

This one girl is in early 20s, she is living la vida loca. Her parents are paying tuition, new car, a little condo she shares with her classmates etc etc. You get the gist.

Her younger brother, he studies but looks after family business as well and I can feel that there're higher expectations and more pressure on him in comparison to his sister.

Now I don't have Instagram/Twitter etc. but I can so imagine this sister complaining that Pakistani women are oppressed :yk

There (unfortunately) is oppression, insane patriarchy and domestic violence against our women. But unfortunately, there be a lot of posers who monetize this oppression for some internet points.

Afridi is a legend, even now he has a personality and power over the masses that nobody in our team roster has. I wont get into the discussion of gender roles etc...I'm a traditional and conservative man, my views and beliefs are mine and may not be too popular here.

If what she claims is true, I would hope he would show more support to the women Pak cricket team, they deserve alot of praise and respect for their performance and effort. Many times they perform better and more consistently than our mens team. You have to give credit where it's due, they represent our nation, and that to me is higher than gender.

Who is Imaan aunty.

She is a nobody and deserves no time.

Move on. Cant have random people's stupid views being made news.
Exactly.

Forget Iman, forget Boom Boom’s average.

I know if ever there was a box office seller who people would come to watch in his prime, it would be Boom Boom.

If that is not the definition of a legend, I dont know what is!

if you find out 3 prominent members of your team are crooked and some others are suspects then you leave and inform authorities

Afridi made those comments and so he needs to accept the consequences. It's not nice seeing attention seeking drama queens pulling you up, but if you've provided the ammo, then you need to suck it up and get used to being shot down again and again.

Dude they're much worse than the men's team :)))

Who is not a misogynist in subcontinent? She is right about Afridi being one too. However, Afridi is one of the best entertainers Pakistan has produced. That she cannot challenge.

so glad I blocked her..toxic and stupid individual who is trying desperately hard to forge an independent identity away from her mother..attention seeker that is also not very bright.

A misogynist is someone who hates women. Can't see Afridi being one, no matter what this 'Mummy ki Pari' is saying

Not just hates women, misogynist cant be someone who is prejudiced against women or discriminates against them. Afridi has had instances when he has openly said such misogynist things. One of those things have been mentioned in the OP. That interview is available on youtube as well for everyone to see.

Having said that, legendary status in terms of achievements cannot be taken away based on what a person is like in his
Private life.

Islam states a lot of things which aren't put it into practice.

That's a very reductionist way to put it. Should a prodigious medical researcher be subjugated into a housewife-role when she could produce amazing research?

There's also the fact that not everyone will want to conform to Islamic values, to varying degrees.

If Afridi said that Women should cook and stay in kitchen, he clearly thinks women should not be out playing. Clearly he is a misogynist. No 2 ways about it.

A Muslim should practice Islam the way Quran says and Prophet Muhammed acted. How can you pick and choose what to follow and what not to?

A no name woman daring to call Afridi a misogynist? She should first look at herself, what she has done for the country before trying to sully the image of national heroes.

Stoning of adulterers and homosexuals, beating a disobedient wife, death for apostasy, slavery (including sexual) are all things that most Muslims countries to abide by, and I'm very glad. Don't act like every religious person follows their religion exactly, and it is ultimately up to them how they practice it (no matter what is written in their scripture).

Many pick and choose as to what suits them. Parents will mostly tell the children the rulings of not to misbehave towards them, husband will do the same against wife but they will not pay much attention to the rulings which go other way. That is actually a big problem in the societly.

If some of these «Chaudarys» really read about the life of the beloved Prophet (saw) they will be schocked!

Afridi may be a misogynist, I don’t know but there’s no doubt that he’s a Pakistani Cricket legend.

Dude ain’t a legend, I agree
The moment you have a discussion around if somebody is a legend or not, it automatically qualifies that person as a legend. He is already in that bracket if you know what i mean.

Cheetah Sharma is a legend too then since we are talking about him? So is Misbah and Rao Iffi Anjum? And Naved Anjum and Manzoor Elahi and Azeem Hafeez, zakir khan, wajahat wasti?

I know so many legends!!!
