Pakistan desperately needs one of these 3 to bat through towards the end of innings for them to post a competitive total, heck even play out 50 overs. The amount of flak they are copping is unreal. As soon as babar and fakhar got out they crumpled like a piece of paper.

This is why i would take a babar azam averaging 55+ with a Strike rate of 85 over a babar azam trying to strike at 100+. Why an imam ul haq at this point in time for pakistan is ideal until, they find solid lower middle order batsmen.

Fakhar and Babar's importance is understandable...pray tell how somebody who failed miserably, i.e. Imam has any importance???

It's like selecting someone and when they don't score, saying oh when this someone fails, Pakistan will lose hence they are important...no crap great logic...they failed and Pakistan lost because they are absolute rubbish as is the case with Imam.

Rofl what have these 3 won forget the World Cup anything in the ODI format?

Selfish players who play for their places.
Time for all 3 to be dumped into the sea.

Havehad it

Babar Azam is not a tier 1 batsmen unfortunately.

I have seen enough of him now.

He was really struggling against spin and was rightfully bowled by Yadav. Contrast that to Root who is a top player of spin.

Elite Tier Kohli
Tier 1 Root, Williamson
Tier 2 Hope, Babar.

People need to realize that at such a young age Babar is stepping up with the bat with absolutely no role models or guidance within the team. He’s the best batsman in Pakistan and will evolve into a consistent match winner.

Fakhar is inconsistent but we need him.

Imam thus far has shown the typical Pakistani dot ball, get bogged down batting that we had in the Misbah era, as we have seen throughout this World Cup.

If these guys are going to eat balls, in return they have to put runs on the board

Don't mind a slow start but they never compensate for the slow starts

It then puts pressure on our week middle order coming after them hence the rash shots

That is exactly why he is important. He failed today and look at how pakistan collapsed, last game fakhar failed but imam was there to hold it together. The importance is there, now if they fail after a zero, or after a 50, the collapse starts if these 3 are all back in the hut. Calling imam a per chi might have been justified when he first came into the team, calling fakhar a hack might have been justified if he was getting out for ducks, now that team is failing its babar is a rubbish batsmen only scored a pretty 40 vs aus, a 50 vs india, "cant even hit a 100, to win us a game chasing 300+ totals" .

The hate is unreal. How about fixing the most broken problems first, shoaib out, Hasan ali out, tell imad and shadab to go for wickets or ship them off also. Then come back for the top 3.

We need them, and I think we might need to change things in order to accommodate these guys. I think Imam-Fakhar is still a poor opening duo, changing that is the first step, either demoting Imam or Fakhar I think has to be done.

I also think Imam's style can't really be tolerated. I'd keep him mainly on the basis of his PSL showing and he's young, but he need to develop a more aggressive game. It's ok to start slow, but you've got to accelerate once set. The batsman at the crease has to be the one accelerating so the new batsman at the crease has time to play himself in and then do the same. Practice attacking shots with the coaching staff and Imam should perhaps be set a roundabout number that once he reaches he has to look for attacking shots, perhaps 30 or 40 runs. I do not mind even if we lose games as a result of this at the start or Imam gets out as a result, we need to forge an ODI suited player in Imam, we can't just carry a non-suited one for the rest of his career.

Fitness and fielding also should be key, get rid of the guys who bring this down.

Our top 3 is decent . Amir new ball bowling is good as well. Other than that this team in other facets is infected by mediocrity.

Imam isn't important to this side. The best time to bat as we have seen in all the games is opening. Imam has constantly failed to set the tempo. When Fakhar was struggling, it was imperative Imam stepped up almost like Azhar did in the CT 2017 final. We need to find a clutch right-handed opener to bat alongside Fakhar.

Still maintain that Shan is a better investment than Imam.
