In fact, the Ram Mandir may have been built much before if the British conquest had not happened. The Mughal Empire was anyway breathing its last well before the British came.The Marathas or the Sikhs would have gained control over the subcontinent if the Europeans had not arrived.

Every society had its evils. Sati was practiced by Warrior caste when their woman get captured by enemies or about to get captured. To avoid being in the harem of the conqueror or sold as a sex slave in foreign markets. It was not mandatory. Every Hindu will be glad it was abolished under law first by British and now by Indian state.
Brits also have the credit to ban Sex slavery in Arabia and Slavery by Berbers in Africa and Europe.
