We are seeing some strange judicial decisions in recent weeks from the LHC, specifically seeming to favour PML-N leaders already convicted of crimes.

CJP Khosa also seems to be fairly lethargic, undoing much of the good work done by his erstwhile predecessor.

The High Court judges are appointed by committee, at the direction of the CJP. The CJP is chosen by the PM.

So why isn't Imran Khan putting pressure on his appointee, CJP Khosa, to take action against the LHC? It is undoing much of the hard work of the last few months, and making PTI manifesto promise to tackle corruption a mockery.

CJP is not chosen by PM. CJP is the senior most judge in Pakistan, once he retires the next in line takes over.

The rest I agree with your post, the present CJP is not doing anything.

Ah ok, didn't realise the PM/President no longer had an input.

Anyway to remove Khosa, or light a fire under his back?

CJ Khosa has been a breath of fresh air compared to Saqib Nisar, who was arguably the worst CJ we have ever had.

LHC has set a very important precedence - the judiciary needs to unite and stand up to the tyranny of this wave of fascism, where you are doomed if you don’t toe the line of the military and its mouthpiece PTI.

Hmm. Only VVIP criminals being released after conviction, and not the common man.

That's not a breath of fresh air but rather it reeks of corruption, as there is no consistency.

So you are saying that the judiciary was weaker when there was an anti-establishment government at the helm, and during a "selected" government and "selected PM" the judiciary has magically grown cajones and going against "fascism"?

Help me put 2 and 2 together and understand your logic :ua

The judiciary caved under the pressure and blackmailing of the establishment, but they are showing spine now, which is what this country needs. LHC is setting a precedence for the future and what is to come.

You play to be genius.

So please tell us which country does not have 'establishment'?

The valid question is - which country in the world has an establishment that actively works against the betterment of the country? The obvious answer is Pakistan.

LOL.

Now you are asking question and answering it yourself, too? I know you play to be genius but hold up with your ego.

Answer, which country does not have establishment?

Most of your comments about Pakistani military disregard the major history of wars in Afghanistan, refugee from Afghanistan, reason for Pakistan supporting Taliban, Kashmir conflict ( you prefer Pakistan to bend over just because India has asked to do it), and terrorism in Pakistan.

You want to have a tunnel vision regarding Pakistan's issue because it makes you appear different but you aren't.

So the same judges who caved in are now all of a sudden embolden and releasing drug dealers like Neefa Powdri? The same judges are meeting on days off and issuing pre-arrest bails for corrupt politicians?

Wah bhai wah what a spine. Ikhees toppon ki salaami tou bunti hai.

Ahmad Sukhera takes over as advocate general

LAHORE: Barrister Ahmad Jamal Sukhera on Wednesday formally took charge as the new advocate general of Punjab following a notification issued by the governor the other day.

The office of the principal law officer fell vacant after Ahmad Awais tendered his resignation following contempt proceedings initiated against him by a full bench of the Lahore High Court. He was served with a contempt notice for creating a scene in the courtroom and trying to pressurise the bench at the time of announcement of a verdict against a joint investigation team on the Model Town incident.

Mr Awais did not tender an apology and preferred to resign from the post accusing the bench of committing misconduct. The bench, however, discharged the contempt proceedings showing judicial restraint.

Mr Sukhera is a brother of federal Commerce and Industries Secretary Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera and his name had been finalised after a nod given by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
