The last time Pakistan won Test series SENA - 1-0 in NZ 2010/11. How would you rate that team now?

Back in 2010/11 was the last time we Test won a series in SENA. Here was the team - how would you rate it compared to now?

1) Hafeez

2)Taufeeq Umar

3) Azhar Ali

4)Younis

5)Misbah

6)Asad Shafiq

7)Adnan Akmal

8)Abdur Rehman

9) umar Gul

10) Tanvir Ahmed

11) Wahab Riaz

Even though it seems like a mediocre team at first glance, I would gladly take that team over now... 2011 Misbah was extremely consisntet, Azhar, Asad, and Taufeeq were all also pretty good batsmen. Legend Younis was there.

Bowling was rather on the weaker side - Wahab and Rehman are good Test bowlers, however Gul and Tanvir are pretty mediocre. I'd easily take Hasan and Shaheen over those two.

Overall, I'd say 9 out of 11 players in that team were far better than currently (Azhar, Asad still there but much worse now)

At least that Test team could actually hold a bat...

I remember watching that series actually. That team wasn't as bad as you think. It had drawn 0-0 vs an ATG SA team right after the match fixing saga, and beat SL in UAE in 2011/12.

Anyways, for that particular NZ series, that team didn't look too amazing, however we didn't really have much collpases and used steady batting to win. Our bowling was just average/above average, but we wer a somewhat stable unit that could post big totals.

Looking at the results that's what its suggesting to me as well now tbh.
Maybe its coz of where the players have ended up is making me a bit biased.

Misbah being his usual self decided not to go for the 2-0 win in the second test and batted extremely defensively in the final day for a draw.

Nz used to be so scared of Pakistan back in the days of Akhtar and Sami....

Still remember the 2003-4 series where the batsmen were literally shaking facing Sami 2nd innings in the first test and the then Akhtar in the 2nd test annihilated them.

The BCs were extremely mediocre then. McCullum added a lot of energy and edge to the team. I'm glad Kane has continued it instead of reverting to the group of nice blokes that Vettori had built.

Post the team that NZ had as well.

I am sure Taylor wasn't that good back then.

The batting was infinitely better than what we have now. Hafeez and Taufiq made a decent opening combination for a couple of years. The bowling consisted of workhorses as we were still adjusting to a new attack post-spot fixing.

Its a slow process but Pakistan have all the right ingredients in place. I expect them to become a strong, competitive Test side soon

Yes point fingers to the man who rescued the team along with Younis khan from 42-3 on a tricky final day pitch to lead them to a series victory after a great rescue mission. To make matters worse for you he was also man of the match.

Indeed - compare that to our regular final day implosions and inability to bat out a draw now.

The current side probably has better bowlers but back then Misbah had a way of getting the best from his team and using the spinners well.

It is also fair to say the Kiwis didnt have the type of bowling they have now but it was still a good side, inhome conditions.

Misbah just got the better of his men.

Rehman did a great job at being the holding spinner and keeping things tight in those foreign conditions. Like it or not Yasirs lack of control in our recent overseas tours has been a massive problem.

Rehman did a very good job. The test team is desperate for somebody in his mold to partner Yasir, who can go missing sometimes.
