Only the 2nd game for his country and hits an unreal 83 (42) deliveries in a huge chase.

Loved his calmness.

Big hitter and good against spin bowling too.

Has to be said atmosphere wasn’t at all ok bowlers favour but still one heck of an effort given how fresh he is still to international cricket.

Well done Turner!

Australia should give him maximum chances. He is potentially their
"jos buttler".

He is definitely going to World Cup after this knock.

Australia getting it together just in time.

what a cool head, hopefully he keeps it up, and aussies will be a force to reckon with at the WC...

Not only is he a big hitter but he seems a very sensible batter. Aus will idealy want both maxi and turner in middle order.
Aus top 7 should be
Finch
Warner
Marsh
Smith
Handscomb
Turner
Maxwell

Warner
Khawaja

Finch is awful.

Yeah . U need to fit in a wicket keeper somewhere else the bowling will be too light

Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Maxwell
Turner
Carey

That looks like a very strong batting line-up. They are getting it well just at the right time.
Add to that the bowlers

Cummins
Starc
Hazelwood
Zampa

That should be one of the favorites.

This guy is ubert tall. He has pretty good reach. But this was on a non turning wicket with ball nicely coming on. His career record is poor. So i need to see more before coming to a conclusion.

5th bowler?
Can't offer 10 overs of lollipops to the opposition

There’s no way Rayudu, Jadhav, Shankar, Dhoni would have pulled this off even under such conditions.

We need to realise, India is regularly coming 30-40 short of match winning score. This is 2019 and 380-420 is pretty doable on a surface like Mohali.

India had a great start but they were way too selfish in their batting to make it count. 358 after a 180 run opening stand is nothing special.

All of a sudden, Australia ODI team seems like becoming the 2nd favorite after England. With Warner and Smith in, and Maxwell becoming more consistent, Australian team might even become favorite during the middle of world cup.

warner and smith won't have much match practice...

ppers acting like they haven't been out of cricket for the past year

If Warner and Smith are in form, Aus are probably favorites for the WC.

England are still odds on favourites.

I reckon New Zealand will also be among the top performers.

India, Pakistan, Australia and South Africa will fight it out for other two places.

Want to see him in more matches before judging him. He played extremely well yesterday but he should have been out 3 times, at least. India was very sloppy in the field.

Should play all 5 games against Pakistan to see if he's good enough for the WC. Australia seem to love Stonis. Don't see a place for the both in the line up.

He did have his share of luck but he played brilliantly. He hit the ball hard and straight- mostly favored the onside. He even scooped Bumrah during the death overs. The most impressive thing was his running- very fast and made two's comfortably.

Australian Ashton Turner became the first man in Twenty20 history to make five consecutive ducks as he fell first ball in the Indian Premier League.

It was the third successive IPL golden duck for the 26-year-old, who batted at number five for Rajasthan Royals.

Team-mate Ajinkya Rahane, the India batsman, struck his team's highest IPL score with an unbeaten 105.

Turner hit 84 in one-day international against India and has played three ODIs and five T20s for Australia.

His unbeaten one-day innings in March broke the run of T20 ducks, which began with a first-ball dismissal in the Big Bash League in February and was followed by a five-ball nought against India.

Ashton Turner is set to be ruled out of contention for Australia's upcoming T20 internationals against Sri Lanka and Pakistan after breaking a finger at training with Western Australia.

The WA star batsman and vice-captain is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks after breaking a finger on his right hand at training ahead of the state's Marsh One-Day Cup clash with the NSW Blues in Sydney.

Turner, who has been a consistent performer with the Perth Scorchers and had a breakout series with Australia's limited-overs squad in India earlier this year, had been expected to be figure high in Australia's plans for the two Gillette T20 International series that open the men's home summer from October 27.

WACA Sports Science Sports Medicine Manager Nick Jones said Turner could expect to be sidelined until at least November with the injury.

"Ashton sustained a fracture to his right index finger at training this week," Jones said.

"After reviewing the injury with specialists, he will require a period of approximately four-six weeks before being able to return to play."

It's a cruel blow for the big-hitting batsman, who has a burgeoning reputation for finishing an innings in explosive style.

Turner has had more than his share of injury troubles in recent years, including four separate operations on a troublesome right shoulder he last injured in the KFC Big Bash League on Boxing Day last year.

Turner was able to delay surgery on that latest injury to see out the summer as a batsman only and was still able to push his way into Australia's limited overs squad.

He announced himself to the world with a monumental performance in an ODI run-chase in Mohali, where he struck six sixes and five fours in a 43-ball knock of 84 to guide Australia to a successful chase of 359.

But his shoulder injury prevented him from bowling and also limited his ability in the field. Combined with the returns to Australia's top six of Steve Smith and David Warner for the World Cup, it meant Turner ultimately missed out on a spot in the World Cup squad.

He also opted out of the winter's Australia A one-day tour of the UK to have surgery and had made a successful return to action with WA, striking 52 in the opening Marsh Cup game against Victoria.

Disappointed to have missed out on the 50-over World Cup this year, Turner would be desperate to be included in Australia's plans for next year's 20-over tournament on home soil.

Justin Langer is an unabashed fan of Turner and knows the batsmen well from his time coaching in the west. He has previously highlighted the right-hander's ability to finish off an innings with the bat and create pressure with his speed between the wickets.

"I remember when Mike Hussey came into Australian cricket, the thing that almost got him a shot in the one-day side was his running between his wickets," Langer said when Turner was called up to the Australia team earlier this year.

"That might sound like the dumbest thing you've ever heard. But you watch Ashton Turner, the way he runs between wickets is unbelievable.

"He's such a great athlete, it puts so much pressure (on the opposition).

"One of the hallmarks of great Australian teams, you think about Dean Jones and Michael Bevan and Michael Hussey, is the running between (wickets).

"It's a basic (skill) but we've also been talking about getting players who can finish off (an) innings and he's shown that … in Big Bash cricket. He's in great form.

"He can finish the innings off well, he's an elite athlete in the field and he's also a captain.

"You see the way he finishes off an innings that he's a good thinker of the game, like most of the great finishers. And he's a really good leader (and a) good person around the group. I'm very excited to see him come in."

Australia all-rounder Ashton Turner, who has made a comeback in the national squad for the upcoming home T20Is against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, is eager to make an impact with both bat and ball for his team.

Turner's last international appearance came in the last of five ODIs against India earlier this year in March, when Australia beat the Virat Kohli-led side 3-2 to register their first bilateral series win in India after 2009. In the fourth ODI of the series, in Mohali, the 26-year-old had scored a stroke-filled 43-ball 84* to help his side chase down India's 358/9 with 13 balls to spare. However, with Steve Smith and David Warner making an international return and he himself sustaining a finger injury, Turner hasn't been in Australia's national set-up since.

Now as he makes a comeback for home T20Is against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the all-rounder can't wait to take the field for the national team again.

It's certainly a big goal for me, and I don’t care what format it is, I just love playing for Australia.

"Probably the most exciting moments of my cricketing career have come from playing for Australia, and it’s an environment that I loved being in," Turner told cricket.com.au. "All of my team-mates were so welcoming, and I remember once I got into that squad I thought 'this is the place I want to be, this is the team I want to be playing for'.

"I've had some injuries and a bit of time at the WACA gym recently, running laps, doing my rehab. But that whole time I had, in the back of my mind, playing for Australia again. It's certainly a big goal for me, and I don’t care what format it is, I just love playing for Australia."

Turner has also been having trouble with his shoulder in recent times, which has kept him away from bowling his off-breaks. He's been playing as a specialist batsman in domestic cricket but identifies bowling as a key aspect of his game.

"I'm not too far away from getting back to bowling, and I'm hoping that particularly in T20 cricket it won’t be long before I can play as an all-rounder again," he said. "Throwing is going to take a bit more time, but by the start of the Big Bash, I fully expect to be bowling again and be able to play a role for the Scorchers, or for Australia. It's a really important part of my game, particularly in white ball cricket.

"I've got a pretty serious shoulder injury and it meant that I've played a lot of games not at one hundred per cent, and my bowling and throwing have been really restricted. That's well documented, but on the other hand, I’ve actually been really fortunate because I've had a really serious injury and yet I haven’t missed a game of cricket because of it. I've been able to play as a batter."

Trust me, he's a dangerous batsman.

I saw him live in Chandigarh when he single handedly snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

JUST IN: Perth Scorchers have confirmed skipper Ashton Turner will miss the rest of #BBL13 after undergoing surgery this morning.
