He's over rated & gotten worse with age.

He used to be very funny on his show on Geo and before that on stage, but now his humor isn't the same and he cracks racist jokes or personal jokes about peoples appearance just to compensate for not being funny.

Was good during the Bakra Qisto Pai and Buddha Ghar Pai Hai days, has gotten tharkier and tharkier since then.

Umar Shareef was legendary when he was young but he only become ordinary with age and now he try to hard and endup overacting tbh he should retire now even ordinary stage drama actors look more funny than him these days.

Moin Akhtar on the other hand was legendary from start to end he never changed and Sohail Ahmed is also enjoying same.

Amanullah is also going on Umar Shareef path they both should retire but i guess Amanullah is not very financially strong like Umar Sharif so he is continuing.

Umer Shareef has a baazari personality resorts to personal attacks, such as making fun of Jehangir Khan's lips etc. Low level comedian.

Moin Akhtar had too much class and dignity. What a legend.

I remember during the world cup he was making fun of Basit Ali for being dark, he looked very uncomfortable

This this and this. Well put. Used to be his fan during his stage days. No more. He uses cheap sasti comedy now.

Yeah, i remember that good part of his show on geo used to be on how the female guest hasnt shaked his hand but of the other male guest. Tharki af.

I came across a show he was doing during the last Ramadan. They asked a few audience members to come on stage and answer questions to win a prize. Interestingly, the prize was a motor bike but all contestants were females. One contestant was not wearing dupatta on her head. He told her to wear it because it was Ramadan. It was really awkward. Another born again self righteous celebrity.

I seen his show he did insulting Akhtar for going on Indian TV and insulting Pak players and team. Wasnt that funny just came across as lame.

His regular show on ARY is pathetic. Full of overacting, personal attacks, insults and double meaning statements.

Sorry but this is not comedy

LAHORE: Veteran artist Umer Sharif recently became the talk of the town when a picture of him in a wheelchair, apparently at a hospital, went viral on social media. In the picture, the renowned comedian was seen in a frail state, which propelled worrying messages from fans and followers who started praying for his speedy recovery.

In a tweet that made rounds on Twitter, it was claimed that Umer is suffering from a life-threatening ailment and is currently hospitalised due to the same. However, speaking to The Express Tribune, a close source to the artist's family confirmed that Umer is well and is home.

"The picture isn't recent," the insider told the publication. "He has been going to the hospital for his routine checkup but it's nothing serious for now. He has been unwell due to his heart issues, but he's not under any life-threatening illness."

In 2017, the news of the (fake) death of the Pakistani comedian began circulating over social media and when fans began mourning and sharing thousands of messages on his passing, Sharif’s son Jawad Umer later had to post a statement, clarifying that his father was still alive and well. A photo of Umer in a hospital bed was doing the rounds and somehow, that led to the fake news of his death.

Celebrated veteran comedian and actor Umer Sharif sent a video message to Prime Minister Imran Khan via a television talkshow, requesting the premier's assistance to receive urgent medical treatment.

Sharif's message was broadcast on the ARY News talk show 11th Hour hosted by Waseem Badami. "The doctor has told me that I need to go abroad to receive the best treatment," Sharif said in his message. "I helped in the making of Imran Khan's Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. I request Prime Minister Imran Khan to come to my support just like I have come to his whenever he has called me."

Badami explained why Sharif is requesting the prime minister's support. "The main issue here is that doctors say Sharif needs to go abroad to receive treatment in the next 15 to 20 days," he said. "It's not that he needs to go abroad to get the best quality in treatment. The treatment for his ailment is only available abroad according to some of the best doctors in Pakistan.

"The treatment is found in only three countries; America, Germany and Saudi Arabia," Badami continued. "Because of Covid-19 restrictions, it's hard to make travel arrangements for a sudden trip. These arrangements can only be made on the basis of support from state institutions, not on the basis of an individual's own efforts which will only cause delay. The doctors have said it is imperative that [Sharif receives treatment] in the next two to three weeks."

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill was called on to the show to respond to Sharif's request. Gill expressed sorrow at the actor's predicament and assured that the government would help him.

"I'll personally relay Sharif's message to Prime Minister Imran Khan. We'll get in touch with the three countries as well. I'll make efforts to make arrangements for his treatment.

"We'll get in touch with the Saudi and German embassies first," Gill explained. "Since these countries are nearer to Pakistan, that will be an advantage. We'll also get in touch with the US. Whichever country agrees to facilitate us, we'll involve them [in Sharif's case]."

Gill also assured that the government will do whatever it can for Sharif in regards to paying for his treatment as well.

In 2017, pictures of Sharif in a hospital bed went viral on social media, starting rumours that Sharif was severely ill. In a comment to Images, Sharif's sister Khadija Mahmood had clarified that he was not suffering from a major sickness.

Sharif is a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his contributions as comedian, actor and producer in the entertainment industry.

Hope he recovers and gets the best treatment. This guy has made the nation laugh widely for a few decades.

I found him really really funny when I was a kid but as I grew up I realised a lot of the jokes were either sexists or racists. Nevertheless people from the sub continent were crazy about him.

Talking to Geo News exclusively, Zareen Umer said that the federal government helped them in obtaining US visa for the legendary comedian.

An air ambulance has also been arranged for the ailing Umer Sharif, she said, adding that the Sindh government has promised to bear its expenses.

'Every minute critical for comedian'
Earlier on September 11, Pakistani actor and comedian Umer Sharif’s wife Zareen Umer had expressed hope that her ailing husband will be issued a visa to the US at the earliest, so that her ailing husband can be airlifted to the US.

His wife had said that every single moment was critical for the comedian and his family.

Speaking to Geo News exclusively, Zareen had said she received a call from the PM Office during which she was told that efforts were being made to grant him a visa and make other arrangements for the comedian, which included an air ambulance.

Zareen had said they needed an air ambulance because Umer cannot travel on a regular flight.

All arrangements had been made for Umer’s treatment at George Washington University Hospital in the US, she said and added that the only thing they needed was an air ambulance and visa, immediately.

Veteran comedian Umer Sharif has been issued a US visa on Thursday, PPP leader Murtaza Wahab announced. The renowned artist will be flown to the States for treatment soon.

Taking to Twitter, Wahab had earlier shared, "Happy to inform you that visa interviews of Omer Sharif Sahab's family have taken place today [Thursday]. Very grateful to the US consulate for exempting the presence of Omer Bhai for issuance of visa. Let us all continue to pray for the good health of one of the greatest comedians of the subcontinent."

An hour later, he shared that the visa has been issued. "Even happier to inform you that the visa has been issued just now. Thank you to the team at US Consulate for the support extended."

Sharif, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the metropolis, was deemed fit to fly abroad for further treatment on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government approved the release of Rs40 million for Sharif's treatment. The funds are to be used to cover the expense of an air ambulance and other related costs for Sharif's treatment abroad, stated the order issued by the provincial finance department, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune.

"We are committed to bearing the expenses of Umer Sharif Sahib's treatment expenditures," said Sindh government spokesperson, Wahab, speaking to the publication. He confirmed that the funds have been released and transferred to the family.

Can someone tell me why Sindh gov is paying his expenses for treatment in USA, from tax money ?

Also , I heard in news " Rema's husband agreed to perform surgery on Umar Sharif" . Reema's husband in not a surgeon , I know him.

KARACHI: Legendary comedian Umer Sharif left for the US to seek medical treatment Tuesday in an air ambulance.

The actor was shifted to the air ambulance after his immigration process was completed at the airport.

Ambulance 1158 airborne took off after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took care of the comedian's travelling process.

Earlier, hospital sources said Umer Sharif's health has improved slightly.

A team of foreign doctors had conducted a medical check-up of the comedian at a private hospital and interacted with him as well.

His family sources disclosed that the doctors’ team had declared Sharif fit for air travel.

Umer Sharif also held a telephonic conversation with his physician Dr Tariq Shahab in the US.

Meanwhile, talking to journalists, his son Jawad Umar had said that his condition is a little better as compared to yesterday.

A day earlier, Umer Sharif had been shifted to the ICU of a private hospital after his health condition deteriorated, hours before he was to leave for the United States.

His son had said that Sharif’s health condition worsened when his blood pressure shot up and he was moved to critical care on Monday. Jawad Umar said doctors had decided to keep Sharif under observation for 24 hours. He maintained that the comedian's condition was improving but he could not say anything about his travel to the US right now.

Yesterday, Umer Sharif was shifted to the ICU after his health condition deteriorated.

His departure had been delayed after doctors said the next 48 hours are critical for his health.

Dr Tariq Shahab, the husband of Pakistani actress Reema Khan who was overseeing arrangements for Sharif's treatment in the US, told Geo News that the actor's blood pressure dropped at dialysis.

He had said Sharif was shifted to the ICU after his condition worsened, adding that the actor was not able to undertake a long journey. Shahab had said that any decision regarding Umer Sharif's departure to the US would be made after taking into view his condition.

He had said that the air ambulance company has been informed about the patient's condition.

With renal failure and heart failure , his prognosis does not look promising but lets hope he will recover from his current condition . Wish him all the best.

Transfer to USA by air ambulance and his treatment there will cost a huge amount of money, wondering why Tax payers are paying for that ?? In what capacity Sindh government paying his bills ??

He is our national asset. We pour billions into nonsense and corruption every year. No harm in spending a bit on the handful of legends we got.

He needs a renal transplant.

I am guessing his heart failure is due to fluid overload due to CKD5.
