As of right now, this Pakistani ODI batting lineup is top notch.

1) Imam Ul Haq: Average of 53 with SR of 83
2) Fakhar Zaman: Average of 59 with SR of 96
3) Babar Azam: Average of 52 with SR of 84
4) Shoaib Malik: Since comeback in 2015: Average of 49 with SR of 98.

No other team in the world has their top 4 average in the fifties. Inshallah this team gets better and better and plays the same way against better opposition.

*All the averages and strike rates were rounded to the full number.

How about comparing Statistic of the players where we analyze their performances against the big boys vs minnows, that will reveal everything

Shoaib Malik avg is calculated from 2015...soo all his performances before 2015 got nullified is it? If these kind of filters are used every team’s top four ends up with 50 avg and 100 sr...lolll

It is not a myth as long as we don't perform against quality teams. Post Champions Trophy, the only time we faced a top team at its full-strength was New Zealand, and we got demolished 5-0. What were our batting numbers for that series?

This is a mediocre lineup that has inflated numbers because of minnow-bashing. Babar and Fakhar are the only two players in this lineup who can score against any opposition. However, Babar is too slow to make an impact, and Fakhar's plays very high-risk cricket.

Teams like India, England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand will beat this team in a bilateral series 9 out of 10 times.

Our performances and records are fake - they have been built artificially because of playing a lot of matches against minnows and weak teams.

The New Zealand ODI series was the litmus test of this so-called improved team and they failed embarrassingly.

This is cheating. Last time you said 8 out of 10 times. Now you are saying 9 out of 10 times again. Why the demotion?

Fakhar, Babar and our lower order are world class. That’s it.

However I have high hopes from Asif Ali.

You answered or rather raised a question with this?

Fakhar and Babar can score against top teams. The rest have a lot to prove. We can challenge the top teams regardless of what Mamoon is saying.

Strike rates have relevance when seen over the course of the innings, at least for me. Bashing your way at the end, while playing at a crawl doesnt tell the story.
Besides, we were shown up against NZ very badly.

Babar has to prove that he can play meaningful innings vs. competition. The difference between his performance vs. Sharjeel's in the Australia odi series, was chalk and cheese.

These number explains the same story as Ambati Rayudu ODI average in international cricket.

We're getting better. Few years ago you could average mid 30s and be one of the best batsmen in the team. Mid 30s don't cut it anymore.

Standards are being raised which is great for Pakistan batting. More is expected and batsmen are raising their game to meet it.

And we're playing one less batsman than most teams too. Imagine if we had a proper bat at 7, or Faheem starts pulling his weight as a bat? Our team would look a lot stronger.

ya averages is good but strike rate is not good specially against good teams it mean if all top 4 players will score in a match under 100 strike rate then Pakistan will get around 270 runs and that score is not good against good teams

Things have certainly improved with Mickey and Sarfraz at the helm. Still a lot of work to be done though.

I could be wrong but for the New Zealand Series I don’t think Pak had its fullstrength team playing. Was Fakhar, Babar, Harris playing? Didnt India lose two test series back to back after their 2011 world cup win ?

Ouf. There are 1.5 good players ther;. Fakhar and Babar. Malik is a lamb against pace. His average in England again is what? And Imam is just too raw to say much about yet.

Still work to be done, but yes there has been (significant) improvement.

So what’s the reason we’ve lost just about every one day series against the top teams baring Sri Lanka in the last couple of years?

If we can bat just as well as them then surely we should’ve won more series’ against them. Maybe our world class bowling failed us then?

This series hasn't any myths about our batting. Let me see where we stand after Asia Cup, AUS/NZ home series, and South Africa.

Fakhar is proving himself not a one hit wonder though - his knock in that tri series final showed he's here to stay.

People will cry and whinge but this what happens when you have normal people in control of a talented countrys team as opposed to Misbah who gave us Tuk Tuk Tuk Tuk

I think Pakistani fans swing between highs and lows.

Seems everything is all good or all bad.

One thing I must say is I notice that the ingredients for success are in this team and it needs further polishing.

But they arent neither World class already nor are they so bad that we need to complain everytime they succeed against Zimbabwe.

They can only play whats laid out in front of them.

If they had struggled against this Zimbabwe the knives would have been out.

Now they are winning and still knives are being sharpened.

Its absolute ridiculousness in my opinion.
