We have now seen Pakistan take the bizarre decision to dismiss their coach right as the World Test Championship began.

A coach who had previously done the job for both South Africa and Australia.

And we have seen some truly bizarre self-nominations for the role: even men like Mohsin Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Akram who have been largely unemployable as coaches outside Pakistan think they can do the job.

But at the same time we see that England and India are considering the same candidates as one another (eg Mickey Arthur and Tom Moody and Mike Hesson) for their job.

And surely the decision is that simple.

If an applicant didn’t make England or India’s shortlist, then he is not qualified for the Pakistan job.

It really is that simple.

I can’t think of a single coach or person capable in Pakistan of being able to maintain a modern, professional approach needed to the game in this day and age. Fitness standards are going to drop, fielding will go backwards and we’ll see the return of TTFs.

If an applicant didn’t make England or India’s shortlist, then he is not qualified for the Pakistan job.
This is naive thinking.

Every team has its own conditions and requirements. Just because XYZ didn't hire him doesn't mean Pakistan shouldn't hire him

Mickey Arthur had to leave Australia and South Africa because he ended up developing differences. So going by your logic, because Arthur had problems with other boards Pakistan shouldn't had hired him in the first place.

If Pakistan had hired Mike Hesson 15 years ago, the likes of you would had been laughing that oh look Pakistan has hired a nobody.

Pakistan were able to recruit Trent Woodhill for gods sake. And after them other boards hired. They followed Pakistan in such case. ECB hired him, even some IPL team ended up hiring him.

THere needs to be change in the coaching structure.. COaches should be the final selector.

I like how Mickey kicked Umar Akmal out, treated the way he deserved to be treated. Thats the kind of authority a Pakistani coach should have.

Then he should know the conditions and play accoridngly. I hated how Mickey didnt go for spinnerrs in the UAE.

And the coach should see his role properly. If he has got a good sensible captain, he can delegate alot of stuff, like what Mohsin Khan did. He did a good enough job.
However, if you have a foolish captain, then the coach should be able to convince or get his final word out.

All our ex cricketers who want a job in the PCB should first make a name for themselves in world cricket.
