I can see is the end of Hafeez, Malik, probably Imad, Sarfaraz and Wahab after this World Cup. Knowing us we'd recall Rahat Ali and Asad Shafiq. But sick and tired of players who have done nothing all their careers. The last 4 World Cups have been wasted. I said it last week too, I can't see us winning a single game. We can't play spin, can't play short balls, can't play good pace, its a shambles.

They will be removed but taking their place would be another crop of TTFs like Shehzads and Akmals. This is Pakistan cricket we are talking about.

If we don't finish top 4 (lol) inshaAllah we will finish 9th or 10th. Heads need to roll from captain to coach.

Look at the state of our u19 team.
The only hope we have is with our u13s.

Pretty much I can see Umar Akmal and Shehzad coming back. Sick of this now.

Honestly now that I have cooled down a bit, I see the silver lining. In the sense that our PM is a former cricketing legend, so when the news crosses his table that Pak came 9th or 10th in a cricket WC. He will make sure that heads are rolled.

So for Pak's sake it is better if we either go to semis or final or win the whole thing, OR come near the bottom. Something like a 5th, 6th finish would be VERY bad since things will continue as before.

I think the team's recent results show the urgent need to reform domestic cricket and to thoroughly professionalize the game from the grassroots to the top otherwise Pakistan will be left behind all the other teams in the world. If you don't have world class talent coming through the least you can do is to atleast produce professional cricketers who do the basics right and you maximize the chances of players punching above their weight

Pretty much spot on. Will that happen however? One can only hope. Our next WC seems like a disaster too if things aren;t changed.

Don't worry yaar I don't think we'll win any game by the way its going. :))

You'd probably take the TTF Shehzad over Imam

The silver lining will be that Wasim Khan and Ehsan Mani will be able to proceed full throttle with the domestic reforms.

Wonder whether Javed Miandad will be barking about saving his precious domestic system today. Look, this is the result of your perfect domestic system you don't want to change.

So my thinking is that there should be only 2 players at most over 32 in your best XI.

The rest of players should be in their prime.

And you should have at least 1 youngster under 25.

So for the next WC, it should be two of Fakhar, Haris, Imad and Sarfraz.

Haris and Imad are two of our best players but they aren't in great shape and knee issues/laziness prevent them from getting fit.

Then your youngsters are Shaheen, Hasnain and Shadab.

Nawaz or Gohar as spinner.

Talat is putting in work I saw on his IG. So him as all-rounder

Potential XI for WC2023:
Imam (27), Fakhar* (33), Babar (28), Rizwan+ (30), Talat (27), Asif (31), Nawaz (29), Hasan (28), Shadab (24), Amir (31), Hasnain (23)

With young guys like Saud, Shaheen, and Umer Khan around the squad as well.

Good thing is in 4 years these guys will be in their primes

I agree with most of this but why is Amir there and not Shaheen. Shaheen will hopefully have four/ five years of experience by them (injury permitting). Amir is not needed.

I'm not entirely sure, if today is anything to go by, I don't seen a silver lining if most of the team consistently fails.

There is no silver lining after getting out of world cup the even you prepared for several years. Also how many times we imagine that things will change after losing a mega tournament the reality is that we have a horrible domestic setup and no world beaters are sitting waiting for their chance to shine.

If you look at the other teams and nations, in general, they have a better sporting culture, and we are still living in the last century with unprofessional underpaid mediocre players and equally bad management and board.
