LAHORE: PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has asked the people to “topple down this corrupt government to save the future of the nation.”

In a video message, the leader of the Opposition urged the masses to join the “Mehngai Mukao March” to get rid of PM Imran-led government.

He maintained that he wanted to convey an important message of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to the nation. It is a reality that inflation in Pakistan has reached the highest level in the regime of PM Imran Khan. He also criticised the PTI-led government over alleged worst corruption, poverty, unemployment and cruel behavior to the common man.

'We are going to Islamabad to say goodbye to PM Imran'

A day earlier, as PML-N’s “Mehngai Mukao March” kick-started from Lahore's Model Town, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that the government had "already been ousted" and the Opposition was heading to Islamabad to say "goodbye" to PM Imran Khan.

“[Prime Minister] Imran Khan‘s government has gone he is shouting every day. The government has gone we are going to say goodbye to it,” Maryam told Geo News in an interview on her rally's container.

The PML-N leader said that the “people are echoing” the name of party supremo Nawaz Sharif due to the “incompetent government and inflation”.

“The government has gone a goodbye is left only. He’s (Imran Khan) is pleading but nothing will happen now,” said the PML-N leader. She added that move to oust PM Imran was taken by the government and not the Opposition.

Talking about the government allies who are yet to make a decision, Maryam said that no one will stand with the premier as his own party members were ditching him.

Fazl warns govt against posing any threat
JUI-F President Maulana Fazlur Rehman had warned the government against posing any threat to the opposition parties, saying that they will give a befitting response.

"We are not wearing bangles," Fazl said on Saturday while announcing that the participants of his party's long march would stay in the federal capital for two to three days after reaching there on Saturday, The News reported.

He said that as the opposition is "staying in its limits" and the government should also not cross its limits.

The JUI-F president, who is also the chief of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), said that it was the alliance's decision to hold talks with all the allies of the government.

Fazl said the PML-Q was in talks with the PML-N to settle matters between them.

He claimed that all matters with the government's allied parties had been settled. Fazl said that MQM-P had made no demand for a ministry but wanted a settlement with the PPP on the local government's bill.

GUJRANWALA: PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday took a swipe at Prime Minister Imran Khan and said that "he is a coward" and added that the Opposition will "not let him run away."

Maryam was speaking during a press conference along with the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz in Gujranwala, ahead of the premier's address to the nation in Islamabad.

She said that Imran Khan will be held accountable for using taxpayers’ money on public gatherings and criticised him for capitalising on the religious card to gain political mileage.

"This money was not your family's. This was the hard-earned money of the people of Pakistan which you splurged on holding public rallies," she said while lashing out at the premier.

Maryam added that the premier "deprived people of food, while inflation reached the highest levels in the country."

She also censured him for abusing the Opposition leaders and delaying the voting on the no-trust motion, adding that when the premier was held accountable for his misdoings related to the foreign funding case, he used "every means to save himself."

Taking a jibe at PTI's ongoing jalsa in Islamabad, where the party has claimed to gather more than one million people in support of PM Imran Khan, Maryam said: "Your jalsa is titled Amr-bil-Maroof (enjoining good). Is snatching bread, flour, electricity, and sugar from the masses called Amr-bil-Maroof?"

"Is misbehaving with people [opposition leaders] and calling them names Amr-bil-Maroof?" she questioned.

'Imran Khan should be labelled diesel'
Maryam also called the premier out for referring to Maulana Fazlur Rehman as "diesel" repeatedly and said: "Considering the rising pieces of diesel during Imran Khan's tenure, he should, indeed, be labelled diesel instead."

The PML-N Vice-President, while talking about the decision of the National Assembly's speaker to delay the no-confidence motion session, said that Imran Khan is "violating the Constitution through the speaker."

'You have no comparison with Shahbaz Sharif'
Favouring her uncle and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam said that he is "a thousand times better than Imran Khan".

"How can you compare yourself with Shahbaz? When there were floods in Pakistan, he used to visit places while submerged knee-deep in the stagnant water," she said.

She also talked about the disgruntled PTI MNAs who had decided to jump ships ahead of the no-confidence motion against the premier.

'Your own party members do not trust you'
"Your own party members do not trust you, which has resulted in the no-confidence motion," Maram said. "Your party has broken up and your companions who used to run your kitchen have lost trust in you."

Maryam further added that if the premier believes Nawaz Sharif is hatching conspiracies against him all the time and is controlling all the affairs of Pakistan while living in London, then he should be "ashamed of his [governance skills]."

"If you think Nawaz is in the driver's seat regarding Pakistan's affairs, you should resign and go home."

'Aapki kanpain taang rahi hain': Hamza Shahbaz to PM Imran
For his part, Hamza Shahbaz said that PM Imran Khan's "rhetoric of Naya Pakistan was nothing but a spectacle."

The PML-N leader also said that his party "does not believe in the umpire but believes in the people of Pakistan."

He claimed that when the 2018 elections were "stolen," PML-N was the biggest party in Punjab at the time.

"I have been receiving reports related to the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly already," Hamza said. "This clearly indicates that 'aapki ki kaapain taang rahi hain (the government's legs are trembling)'".

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday said whoever her father and fellow party leader Nawaz Sharif meets in London "is in the interest of Pakistan".

Maryam's remarks were in reaction to Prime Minister Imran's comments made at Parade Ground in Islamabad earlier. The prime minister, without naming Sharif, had said: "The nation wants to know who the man sitting in London is meeting with and whose directions the characters based in Pakistan are following?"

Shortly after his marathon speech where he alleged that a 'foreign-funded conspiracy' was out to topple his govt and claimed to have evidence in writing, Maryam, addressing a rally of her own in Gujranwala, defended the PML-N supremo.

She said that Nawaz "is the son of Pakistan" and his meetings in London "are in the interest of Pakistan and its 220 million people".

Maryam criticised PM Imran for claiming he had "proof" of the conspiracy against his government, saying he should have revealed the "secrets" he decided to withhold during his speech.

"He knows the corruption cases against his government will come to light the moment he opens his tongue," Maryam said as she claimed that a Lahore-based woman Farah was allegedly involved in taking bribes [on behalf of the government] for transfers and postings. "We know each and everything".

"Imran keeps telling institutions that Nawaz will not spare them. You must keep in mind that these institutions, this country, and the people belong to Nawaz Sharif," she said while referring to the prime minister.

The PML-N leader alleged the the PM Imran-led government spent Rs12 billion in finding proof of corruption against Nawaz, adding that their attempts went in vain.

"We will hold you accountable for wasting this public money on your personal vendetta," she vowed.

Hitting out at the prime minister for name-calling his opponents, Maryam said Imran Khan should be the first person to be called "diesel" in the country, "as the prices of diesel have never been such high as they are during his government's tenure.

She alleged that PM Imran could not even gather an audience of 10,000 at his public meeting in Islamabad against his claims to assemble one million people.

Referring to the dissident PTI leaders who have been giving strong indication of their defection, Maryam said Nawaz was "the only bowler in the world who took 24 wickets of Imran on a single ball from London".

She said that Nawaz was the first to tell "absolutely not" to foreign forces when Pakistan conducted [nuclear] explosions during his government.

She told her party supporters that Sharif and his sibling Shehbaz would soon return "to change the fate of the people of Pakistan".

I shudder.

Yes they have changed the fate of the people of Pakistan over last 30 years , only for the worst, give them one more chance and they will make it even worst .

She is telling them Imran Khan jalsa hardly had 10000 people.

Wondering why she needed a loudspeaker while addressing 2 dozen people in front of her truck, all others were there just because of traffic jam.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz is addressing the joint opposition’s public gathering titled “Inflation March” against the PTI-led government in Islamabad on Monday night.

“Those hearts and minds filled with arrogance are abound to meet the same fate as today [prime minister] Imran Khan is facing,” said Maryam at the start of her address at the rally.

“Today we have gathered here under the leadership of [JUI-F] Maulana Fazlur Rehman to bid farewell to Imran Khan,” she said, adding that the premier has “lost the confidence” of not only parliamentarians but members of his own party and nation as well.

Despite using government resources, Maryam said the ruling PTI against its claims of gathering one million people could not even gather “10,000 people”.

Earlier, the PML-N rally led by Maryam and Hamza Shehbaz entered the federal capital to participate in the anti-government show.

The caravans of the constituent parties of the PDM – mainly the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) – had set off for the federal capital from across the country few days ago and are converging on Islamabad today.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the anti-government alliance, had announced staging a rally in response to ruling PTI’s power show that was held in Islamabad on Sunday amid opposition’s attempt to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan through no-trust vote in National Assembly.

Major opposition leaders including JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam, Hamza, and several others are expected to address the public gathering.

A day earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the opposition parties are allowed to hold a public gathering in Islamabad “but if anyone tries to stage a sit-in he will crush it”.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Rashid said JUI-F was given permission to hold a rally in the federal capital and added that he had requested the opposition parties not to change venue or the nature of their public gathering.

The minister added that they have issued show-cause notice to the JUI-F activists to vacate the Srinagar Highway, saying that PML-N was already issued NOC [no-objection certificate] to hold a rally in Islamabad’s H-9 area on March 28 (Monday).

The interior minister said stern action would be taken against those found involved in blocking the roads besides registering a first information reports (FIR) against them.

So their grips is high prices?

Pakistan petrol is around 0.82p , while India is around £1.34.

Inflation and prices are high worlwide. If anything Pakistan is doing far better than most.

If these same people hadnt ruined the economy with their corruption Pak would be doing even better.

One has to be very ignorant and lacking basic knowledge to support such nonsense.

In its ***-for-tat power show, held just a day after the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf held a large public meeting in the federal capital, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Monday renewed its pledge to topple the Imran government, noting that his first wicket — that of the Punjab chief minister — had already fallen.

The opposition show of power along the Srinagar Highway was addressed by PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and leader of the opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and other leaders after their caravan, which had set off from Lahore on March 26, arrived two days later in Islamabad’s Sector H-9 where Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) supporters had set up camp.

The participants decided to remain at the same venue until the day of voting on the opposition’s no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, despite warnings from the interior minister against turning the opposition rally into a prolonged sit-in.

Addressing the crowd, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said PM Khan was using the ‘religious card’ to save his regime. She said the prime minister had sacrificed his main pillar in Punjab — Chief Minister Usman Buzdar — in order to save his own skin.

“You pushed your most trustworthy man [Buzdar] into the water to save your own rule. We have not seen such an ungrateful man in our whole lives. He also sacrificed PTI leader Jehangir Tarin,” she reminded the crowd.

About the letter that the PM had brandished the previous night, the PML-N leader said he had shown a fake letter, which even the interior minister was unaware of.

Ms Nawaz said the time had come to give final push to the prime minister, saying that no one would come to his rescue.

She said PM Khan had already lost people’s confidence, which was also indicated by the ruling party’s defeat in 15 out of 16 by-elections in recent months. “Today he has also lost confidence of the parliament and his own party,” she added.

Ms Nawaz said the prime minister had no right to sit in the PM House and to decide to fate of the country.

“I challenge you to have 172 MNAs with you on the voting day on no-trust motion,” she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Hamza Shehbaz said Mr Khan’s days in government were numbered, adding that he was yet to provide answers about the funding he and his party had received from abroad.

“If we had taken kickbacks and commissions in the government contracts, we will apologise to the nation and will go home. But we have not committed money laundering. Now you have to answer about illegal foreign funding,” he added.

“I want to say to my nation that politics and life will move on but if the crippling economy is hit by another jolt, the nuclear programme of the country might also be affected. If we do not throw Imran out today, Allah will ask us what you have done to provide relief to the poor who were worst affected by Imran’s faulty policies,” he added.

PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari said the Supreme Court had clearly said whatever its decision on the government’s reference, it will not affect the opposition’s no-trust motion.

He claimed that under the Constitution, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was supposed to submit his resignation to the Punjab governor, not the prime minister.

Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar, Aftab Sherpao, Mehmood Achakzai etc.

Addressing the crowd, Mr Iftikhar said the opposition would continue its struggle till the removal of the prime minister. He said insurgency and terrorism were again rising in the country due to lack of implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP). If the situation did not change, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will face another wave of bomb blasts in the days to come,” he feared.

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai said will the opposition leadership would be able to put the country back on right track after Imran Khan’s oister.

He said a high level meeting should be called, which should be attended by represenatatives of the judiciary, army, media and other stakeholders, who will vow that all institutions will work under their own domain.

He also called on PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif not to accept premiership of a country that had “no rule of law”.

The JUI-F security force, Ansarul Islam, was seen at the venue of the public meeting while heavy contingents of police were present on the highway. Interestingly, the local administration of Islamabad had not given any permission to the organisers for a sit-in.
