What's new

The Pakistani visa website is so much more impressive and user friendly than the Indian website

Not going to compare with any other country but NADRA team is doing a good job their team is behind most of the websites/pages govt launched recently be it eVisa, FBR Taxnet. Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, Youth Loans etc. You will notice a simple and responsive UI in all these sites/pages. NADRA Database is a big help in all these new initiatives.

etc etc

Is it easier to apply for POC now? I have to renew mine, but last time it was a bit hassle with it.

I renewed my NICOP online but it was a long process and the application form was not user friendly at all. I was pretty sure my application would be rejected but it somehow went through lol.

Ah I see, thanks. You Angrez guys are lucky you have dual nationality options.

My parents sponsored me for a Pakistani passport when I was like 16 so I don't need a visa to visit Pakistan.

Importantly, how do the applications compare? Will be interested knowing some numbers.. recently Pakistani tourism has shot up

I have a NICOP. I wasnt even aware I had one until a few years ago. It expires in 6 months. Is is possible to change from a NICOP to a POC?

I think you can only get an origin card if you renounce your Pakistani citizenship.

I'm not sure but I think NICOP >>> POC. You have pretty much exactly the same rights as any other Pakistani citizen whereas I don't think you get that with the POC.

I renewed my NICOP and Passport online from Germany and it was mind mindbogglingly easy and efficient which had me dumbfounded. (Still remember the hours and hours in the Nadra line in 40 degree sweltering heat, found a jugaar after that and I just paid 2k to go straight ahead, even though I felt quite guilty).

Anyway I entered the data, downloaded the form, put in my finger/thumbprint/, uploaded it, paid the fees and got my NICOP in 10 days and then applied for my new passport which I got in 8 days. Truly mind blowing. I did call the embassy regarding another issue a month or so later and was promptly brought back to earth.

Does UAE and Germany allow dual nationality?

indian visa website looks really cheap, however it doesn't mean much, people are flocking to both countries

Guvamaint of Eendia and seamlessness don't gel well together.

Indian government projects are mainly handed over to TCS and Infy, sometimes IBM, Wipro and HCL. The bids for these projects is extremely low, so shortage of resources and lack of skilled people working in such projects result in a crappy project altogether. Cost cutting is the major reason for mostly all government projects being sub standard.

It’s not about UI.. its about the application and backend when it comes to sites like these but its hard to explain that to a teenager so I didn’t try till others went on assuming that’s true.

Healthcare domains have the worst UI in USA but if application goes down a patient would have issues being checked in..

I have never seen people gloat about govt. website design. Every 3rd grade college these days has an astronomy club and superior website design to NASA. Doesn't lead to too many conclusions, or does it?

Yes because folks who couldn't do the easy part right (UI) will for sure do the hard part (database, backend) flawlessly. Wonderful logic.

Why would the same folks do both the design?
In almost all projects I worked for front end is handled by a different team and backend by a different one.

Also I didn’t claim one application is better than the other based on how a front end looks so the claim of flawlessness wasn’t even there it’s about how the application is being judged based on UI.

I am talking about overall project, most of the overall government projects are extremely below standard.
I will give you an example for one of the projects was handled by IBM, TCS bid 193 crore during time of renewal and Wipro bid 360 crore and IBM bid 325 crore. Ultimately, TCS won and the whole project is run on cost cutting bases, no one is happy neither the employees who work in this project because of pressure, neither the client nor the common public using the services.

The project is a loss making project for TCS, the whole project quality is extremely poor.

There are many such examples.

Ultimately, the government should bid higher and set quality control if they ever wish to achieve good quality overall.

the whole world knows about India and Indian accomplishments in science and technology and you base it upon a government website ! Also quit this obsession about india. But if it really helps you to breathe better, Pakistan government has the best website interface in world 👍

I don't think too many people here will understand the nuances of UI and UX as compared to backend components for a multilayered application specially a govt website which is interlinked with tons of services and data sources. Not justifying the Indian website which is built by Level 4 engineers(the best engineers in TCS or Infy are rarely diverted to govt projects unless it is high profile) , just that find it amazing that how some posters without an iota of industrial knowledge or technical acumen are trying to take it as an example to gauge engineering capability of a pool which pretty much is the driving force of all major software product companies across the globe. Yes the pool is big ,hence it is very diverse with lots of quality issues but that's a different topic and does not justify this ridicule from people who may not have written a single line of code or designed a simple business process workflow ever.

By the way, kudos to the team who has worked on the Pakistani website. Good job and hope they continue to evolve further

In the past few days, I have had the chance to use the Saudi, Bahraini and Pak Visa site and I can tell you that Pakistani one is like light years ahead.

The NADRA guys have used the same look and feel and UI for all their work and the ease of use is simply amazing and a real pleasure to use.

I requested POCs last year for my family as well and things got delivered in a matter of few weeks!

Absolutely proud of NADRA's work in this case.

For the record, I did use the Indian website to get a visa. The process was unbelievably user friendly compared to getting a European visa when I still had an Indian passport (with a dozen existing visa stamps from European countries). For my Indian visa I was able to load all the documents, pic and payment needed online for a multi-year visa. For a European visa I had to travel out of my city to appear at a consulate, find numerous documents, and pay an exorbitant amount of money for extra medical insurance.

The entire process of getting an Indian visa was very user friendly, and the visa that was delivered to me by email worked when I landed in India. My only complaint about the entire process was at one point the form asked "Have you traveled to India before?" and after I said "Yes", it asked for the number of my earlier Indian visa. I did not have that as previously I had traveled on an Indian passport. I left that box blank and fortunately it didn't stop me from getting the visa.

Why visa? Why not oci?

Indians are really bad project managers. That is why the two of the three biggest projects in the world, namely Microsoft and Google are managed by Indian CEOs.

Google is chockablock full of Indian engineers in their design teams in the Bay Area. The best tech firms like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Amazon etc. have huge development centers in India.
