Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech equalled the Premier League clean sheet record on Sunday after the Gunners' 2-0 win at Aston Villa, with his 169th in the English top flight.

The guy has in, Theo Walcott's words "completely changed" the Arsenal defence since his arrival.

Amazing for Arsenal but is he heading for more greatness?

Along with peter schmiecel hes right up there as one of the best two goal keepers to ever play in the premier league.

Apart from his nightmare debut against West ham hes probably already saved arsenal atleast 6-8 points this season already and probably will save arsenal 12-15 come the end of the season. Still a top class keeper.

Still Courtia is better than the lot, injuries have gotten the better of him. Cech is way past his prime and that's why Jose sold it to Wenger.

disagree, cech was very near buffon level in both thr prime, since his head injury against reading its understandable that he lost some of his ability.

de gea is very good, but not in the league off, buffon,kahn,zoff,schmichael,casillas- the elite, he tips too many saves, rather than catching them. Makes some saves look harder than they are.
IMO i think he do a casillas at 32- decrease rapidly- due to his reflexes.

David De Gea is world class. Cech is/was very good but I never felt that he was world class. But that's just my opinion.

Not in a million years. Cech was the unsung hero of the 2012 CL win. Made a ton of ridiculous saves. Went the right way for EVERY penalty in the final. He is a HUGE clutch player. De Gea has had a couple of good seasons. Cech has been a top 3 goalkeeper for most of his career, save for maybe a short period after his head injury. Currently they are at a similar level, but De Gea is yet to reach the levels that Cech reached at his best.

TBH he saved us from being embarrassed by pool..if not for Cech could have lost that game 4-0

Bayern win , draw against spurs, draw against norwich. He has already saved Arsenal 5-6 points if not more. Its not the keeper himself but also the way he organise the defence and the confidence it gives to the defenders.

Arsenal have beem shaky in few matches but defensively they are the second best team in premier league.

Manchester United have conceded the least number of goals but they have been playing with two holding midfielders and play quite defensive compare to the gunners. Gunners are second with 13 goals.

U should have wrote second best defensive side ..not just side..the best side in PL is either Arsenal or City!

Since we were talking about defence, you should have understood that iam talking about defensive side of team.

Arsenal's defense has been as bad as I have known them to be. They have been vulnerable against every team be it Sunderland Norwich Leicester Everton.

What has kept us in the game has been Petr Cech.

I honestl cannot remember such a huge presence between the arsenal goal.

You are talking about the arsenal fan who has seen title races collapse at the hands of Sczsesny Almunia Fabianski and Mad Jens in his decline years. You cannot judge my happiness but when counterattack goal that arsenal has conceded against a big club or every soft free kick that goes in by our touch me not defense' or when a deflection that leads to am own goal. You will be relieved to see Cech make a save.

He has conceded only 4 goals on 17 one on one chances against him.

Without him arsenal would be max at 4th place right now.

Arsenal's defense can be diagnosed by the frailites when we faced Bayern home and away. When we were at Bayern, they completely destroyed us. And would've destroyed us at home if it weren't for Cech. Dude made save after save through out the game.

Butland Is the best keeper (under 23) not only in EPL but probably in Europe..He should replace Hart as Englands No 1 in Euros... Also If England Have to Stand Any Chance in Euro they have to Play Guys like Harry Kane and Vardy over Rooney

Goalkeeper Petr Cech has been named in Chelsea's Premier League squad - despite having retired from playing at the end of the 2018-19 season.

The 38-year-old, who is the club's technical and performance adviser, was added as "emergency cover".

Elsewhere, midfielder Mesut Ozil has been left out of Arsenal's 25-man squad.

Manchester United have not included defender Phil Jones and goalkeeper Sergio Romero in their list.

Clubs had to name a 25-man squad after the closure of both the international and domestic transfer windows.

Cech spent 11 years as a player at Stamford Bridge, winning 13 trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

He last played for the Blues in the 3-1 win over Sunderland in May 2015, before joining London rivals Arsenal.

The former Czech Republic international then returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2019 to take up his new role and has recently been helping with the goalkeeping coaching.

"Petr Cech has been included in the squad as emergency goalkeeper cover. This is a precautionary step due to the unprecedented conditions currently caused by the Covid-19 crisis. He takes up a position as a non-contract player," said a Chelsea club statement.
