The rise and fall of Ahmed Shehzad

He genuinely had a lot of promise early in his career, he scored 6 centuries in his first 55 matches - at the time that was better than any other Pakistani batsmen.

It really is socking to see how far he has fallen at such a young age. Has there ever been another batsmen who declined so dramatically at age 26?

There is no fall. He was always a average player at best. Poor defense, limited stroke play. Under pressure always tries to clear front leg and slog over mid wicket. Yet to see a cover drive from him. He was hyped like most young players and he took it seriously.

Wrong! actually there is fall Shahzad went from average player to poor player:vk2

Shehzad is finished. Pakistan also has better players now. He should retire from international cricket and just play in T20 leagues.

If he can go ballistic in QeA and score heavy for 1-2 seasons, then maybe he can play in the test team. If he's in the test team, then at least there is less pressure for him to score runs at a quick click. In terms of LOI, I don't see him making a comeback at all.

If you have an excellent work ethic and you put hard yards in training and if you are still not able to take your game to the next level, then maybe you need to question your training drills, techniques and habit. Maybe Ahmed Shehzad should look to take a leaf out of Shan Masood's books, training and practice drills he adopted in England to dramatically improve his game to the next level. If you put in 5-6 hours of batting practice in the nets, it will reflect in your game. If you just practice for 30-40 minutes and call it a day ala Umar Akmal, it will reflect in your game accordingly.

On this day, 30 March, Ahmed Shehzad became the first Pakistan batter to score a T20I 100. He scored an unbeaten 111 against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

If Allah wills then Ahmad will have one more extended run in the team and help us achieve and reach previous heights such as World T20, CT and number 1 test ranking

I have to agree with you. On top of that I never thought he had the hand-eye co-ordination or reflexes to succeed at the highest level.

Seem like wishfuk thinking at the moment because our openers are pretty settled in all formats but you never know

He needs to concentrate and get some big runs on the board waitin for a chance

Ahmed Shehzad speaking in an interview:

"Pakistan cricket team's race is for everyone. Whoever performs well, will get a chance to play. As simple as that"

"It depends on the performance of every single cricketer. I am all in for giving chances to youngsters. I am really impressed by Saim Ayub and I want him to play for Pakistan. But, sometimes you need experienced players to groom these youngsters"

"I don't want special treatment. I just want honest treatment with me like other players"
