There's a very apt saying that when a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus. The appointment of Afridi is exactly that. Expecting someone who has made illogical decisions all his life will suddenly make logical decisions in selection is insane.

This thread does not make any sense. Afridi is just an interim chief selector for the NZ series. His term will automatically end after selecting the ODI series vs. New Zealand. This has already been stated by the PCB and by himself (indirectly).

If he was to be appointed a permanent CS I would gladly follow this thread and agree that he would resign quite early

You didn’t think this through, much like most of Afridi’s innings.

Afridi was appointed for the NZ series only. He is not interested in a permanent role due to his other projects & neither is Sethi interested in getting him onboard full-time.

Pakistan will have a new selection panel & coaching staff for the next series but I wouldn’t mind Sethi offering Afridi a full time contract.

He has already made some decent calls & proved to be better than Wasim. For example, selecting Haris Sohail in ODIs.

Yeah he is busy indeed with very important stuff. He has just recently committed to play the pointless MSL.

The selector job requires full-time dedication because you have to watch domestic cricket & stay up to date with what is happening.

A certain former PM used his cancer hospital to gain leverage in politics. It doesn’t matter whether charitable work is politically motivated or not - the end result is beneficial for a lot of people.

Also, you don’t have to be Edhi or Gates to help people. Different people help at different levels. The Shahid Afridi foundation has helped thousands of people.

Haris Sohail is made of glass and will break down any minute
Dahani has turned into an awful bowler
Abrar should have been picked
There is no power hitter
What wrong did Ifti chacha did
I am anti Sharjeel but I would have preferred him being picked so that we could have concluded on him

Tayyab is the only positive new inclusion. I dont rate Kamran Ghulam. Bits and pieces player like Salman Agha will not win you any games with bat or ball and hence is a pointless selection in my opinion. We need guys who can score daddy hundreds.

Let’s be honest, Afridi has already done a better job in 1 series than Mohammad Wasim did throughout his time as CS.

If Mohammad Wasim was still CS, an injured/recovering Usman Qadir would be replacing an Injured Shadab Khan. But would spend his time on the bench.

Zahid Mahmood would be picked over Usama Mir.

Haris Sohail would’ve been ignored.

The list of positives will only get longer as long as lala is still the CS.

When Rambo took over everyone was in awe at our performance in the T20 World Cup when in reality he had nothing to do with it. Afridi has made a few minor changes in selection but we need more time to assess his performance.
