'Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army' claims attack on Chinese engineer

http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...r-injured-karachi-bombing-claimed-separatists

A Chinese engineer and his driver have been injured in a bombing in Karachi that was claimed by a little-known separatist group vowing to sabotage China’s multibillion-dollar investment programme in the country.

The unusual targeting of a Chinese worker in the sprawling port city will alarm the government, which is betting heavily on the $46bn China-Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) to transform Pakistan’s moribund economy.

The two men were injured when a roadside bomb exploded at about 8.30am on Monday as their minibus passed through one of Karachi’s industrial quarters.

A piece of paper left at the scene was signed by the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army, an obscure group seeking the independence of Sindh, one of Pakistan’s four regions.

The note denounced the ruling establishment that is largely drawn from Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous region.

“As a rising imperialist power and supporter of Pakistan’s cause we consider China equivalent to Punjab,” the note written in Sindhi said. “We will oppose every anti-Sindh project including the China-Pakistan economic corridor.”

The security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan is a key concern to Beijing. In October, the country’s ambassador demanded that extra precaution be taken to protect those involved in CPEC, something Pakistan has repeatedly promised to do.

Although Karachi is a turbulent city plagued by Islamist militancy and criminal gangs, Chinese expatriates have not generally been considered targets.

Anwar Rao, a senior superintendent of police, said the wounded Chinese man did not have security with him because it was not considered necessary.

“We only provide security when there are tensions in the city and at their place of work,” he said. “We are trying our best to catch the culprits.”

The security of Chinese nationals has been much more of a headache for the Pakistani state in Balochistan, where a special military force has been raised just to protect CPEC projects from separatist forces.

The CPEC investment programme includes roads, railways and desperately needed power plants. It is part of an ambitious strategy that Beijing hopes will not only help stabilise a key ally but also give Chinese goods access to the Arabian Sea through the deep sea port at Gwadar on the Balochistan coast.

Three Chinese engineers were killed by a car bomb in Gwadar in 2004, an event that preceded more than a decade of nationalist unrest.

Today visiting Chinese officials and workers only move around the small fishing town with heavy security provided by the army and police.

These people are really something. The biggest artery of the CPEC is the Karachi-Lahore motorway and more than half of it passes through Sindh

Sindhudesh - the Country of Sindhis. Will the Sindhis also revolt against the Pakistan ( Punjab) establishment like the Bangalees did in 1971?

No points for guessing as to who funded this attack, our beloved Parosis can't see the development happening in Pakistan in collaboration with China.

Peoples were already 'predicting' the rise of such bogus groups the day CPEC had been announced, it's again about geopolitic, and officials in both Pak and China know about it and will act accordingly.

Sindhudesh - the Country of Sindhis. Will the Sindhis also revolt against the Pakistan ( Punjab) establishment like the Bangalees did in 1971?

There's literally nothing comparable, I mean absolutely nothing, and that sounds as random as a Dravidian secessionist movement in India or a Naxalite workers' revolution.

We all know where the funding for these sort of groups is coming from..

Its clear RAW staged this, but why not spend some time coming up with a better name :/

Sindhudesh - the Country of Sindhis. Will the Sindhis also revolt against the Pakistan ( Punjab) establishment like the Bangalees did in 1971?
No the common Sindhi is sworn to PPP which is very clear in its ideology and allegiance for Pakistan

India supporting Sindhis to break away from Pakistan and form SindhuDesh in one hand and MQM to break away from Sindh and Pakistan and form Jinnahpur in another. It would not be so confusing but then you realize that India is also supporting Balochs to form their own country Baalochistan and Pathans to either merge with Afghanistan or get freedom and form Pakhtunkhwa. And then also India supporting Pakistani punjabis to break away from Pakistan and form a Greater Punjab and reunite with Punjab and Hryana. Sigh, and then also supporting Ahmadis to form another breakaway country.
I am so confused, how do RAW/ISI does this.

That's new.
Sounds like a Hindu separatist group to me.

It's not really new. This from 2012.

Islamabad: At least 20 bomb blasts hit cities in Pakistan's southern province of Sindh yesterday that targeted and damaged ATM outlets of government-run banks, killing one person and causing panic, police and media reports said.

Four explosions occurred in Hyderabad — some 140 kilometres northeast of the provincial capital Karachi — the second largest city of the province while similar blasts were reported from different other towns including Nawabshah, Larkana and Dadu.

"The dead person was a security guard of a private bank while two other got minor injuries," Ayyaz Mahmoud, a police official said.

Police said pamphlets bearing the name of a separatist outfit calling itself Sindhu Desh Liberation Army were found near the targeted ATMs in Hyderabad.

Reports said a similar blast damaged a railway track near the town of Ghotki causing suspension of train traffic for sometime.

No one took responsibility for the blasts but Sindhi nationalists have carried out similar attacks before.

Last year a number of minor explosions targeted railway lines at different places and the group had claimed responsibility for the acts of sabotage.

Pakistan is crumbling with the eternal threat in Balochistan.

And if that wasn't enough, secessionist movements are popping up with demands for Pushtunistan and Sindhudesh too.

Not too forget about Jinnahpur also.

That is what is being broadcasted on RAW tv these day? :)))

Farigh people making these random clans and armies of Sindh's independence from Pak and Jupiter's independence from solar system.

I think India needs to put a limit on internet access for the sake of productivity. I can't imagine India becoming superpower when everyone in India is spending their time on Pakistani sites.

What a terrible name also why wait all this time,CPEC has been going on for such a long time.

Sindhi separatists? if anything Sindhi's get preferential treatment when it comes to government jobs and political appointments because of the quota system

Who calls Sindh as SindhuDesh in Pakistan?

SindhuDesh sounds more like a Saffron Version of Sindh.

Every one posts they know where the funding comes from. It funny that they have some much sensitive information and can't do zilch. You guys are high on conspiracy steroids.

RAW is very underrated; I personally feel they are better than ISI in their work.

Our steroids aren't as strong as yours. Even if a dog dies in India, a Pakistani passport is found near the dead body..

Situation in Balochistan has vastly improved but it's obvious Indians are ticked off by that.

And if that wasn't enough, secessionist movements are popping up with demands for Pushtunistan and Sindhudesh too.

Where is the demand for Pashtunistan exactly? And who is even demanding it? Some Afghan refugee sitting in the West? As for Sindhudesh, that idea has been active for decades now but as usual nothing will happen.

Not too forget about Jinnahpur also.

Lol yikes. There is no such thing as Jinnahpur. The army and the government in the early 90s forged this idea for their own gains. They wanted an operation inside Karachi and it only resulted in persecution of Urdu Speakers.

I wonder where they got inspiration for the name from? Although it sounds weird, it's not a bad strategy naming the movement after a previously successful independence movement to derive inspiration from. Bet of luck to the Sindhi people if that is indeed what they desire.

No Sindhis aren't traitors

If the state can pretty much end the heavily funded B'stan militancy, these newbie groups dont stand a chance. At best they can be a minor irritant but far from posing any serious threat to CPEC. Besides Sindhis arent the militant types.

It's a very old name coined in the 50s or 60s but never gained traction.

Coordinated blasts kill four in Pakistan, including soldiers

KARACHI, Pakistan (Reuters) - Three consecutive explosions claimed by a little-known separatist group killed four people including two soldiers in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh on Friday, officials said.

At least a dozen people were also injured.

Shadowy secessionist organization the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army, which wants the province to break from the Pakistani federation, said it carried out the attacks.

One of the blasts was in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and the capital of Sindh, where a civilian died and eight others including a paramilitary soldier were injured.

That explosion was outside a centre for distribution of government cash handouts, and police believe the target was a vehicle of the Sindh Rangers paramilitary force parked outside.

The second blast was reported in Ghotki district, 500 km north of Karachi, where two Rangers soldiers died along with a passerby, local police chief Furrukh Ali told Reuters.

The third blast took place in Sindh’s Larkana district, where no casualties were reported.

The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army has carried out low-intensity attacks in the past, including blowing up train tracks, but its separatist fight has been less violent than that of neighbouring Balochistan province.

“Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army claims the responsibility of Karachi, Ghotki and Larkana attacks,” it tweeted, without giving more details.

The Rangers, a wing of the Pakistan Army, have been deployed around Pakistan and played a prominent role in crackdowns on militant and criminals in Karachi.

Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered an inquiry into Friday’s violence.

They have little to no support among locals. Have and always will fail.

Sindhi nationalist have never won an election in Sindh. In the current provincial assemble they have zero seats.

But to organize such attacks - a little too much for a small outfit.

Bhaisaab I think you have been abroad even longer than me so you seem to forget that in our part of the world you can buy anything for a price and it’s usually very cheap.

You can find a hitman for a few 100 rupees, so it’s no big deal to get some ammunition if you have the contacts and enough funding.

Although there still is alot of tensions between the sindhis and the urdu speakers, the friction that was in the past has died down.

This is definitely a RAW sponsored attack, just like the ones in Balochistan.

Neither I or any Sindhi that I know of supports these extremist groups.

Weapons are not the problem it's the planning that's getting the attention

India is behind it .... the attckers will be chased till thre graves ..... if anything we need to get rid from ppp .....

You know PPP and sindhi nationalists are staunch enemies of each other? Cause they blame sindhs plight on PPP and rightfully so

But I think taking PPP out is basically an invitation for nationalists to come to power

more proxies. Modi is feeling the heat and this is a new front they want to open in karachi and sindh..

Yes -its the Indira Gandhi death by a thousand cuts doctrine at play.

their fall back position. We need to eliminate these sindhudesh **** or they will multiply. Unfortunately due to the PPP's destruction of Sindh there will be plenty of empty stomachs available to be enticed.

India can mobilise sleeper cells in Pakistan: FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday said that India can mobilise sleeper cells in Pakistan, to divert attention from its internal issues and disrupt peace in the neighbouring country.

“Let it be Line of Control (LoC) firing provocations or any other matter, India cannot see enduring peace in Pakistan,” Qureshi said in a statement.

He added the Bhartia Janta Party-led Indian government is under immense pressure due to its embarrassing military skirmish with China in Ladakh.

“I will raise the issue of regional security with foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries,” he said.

The foreign minister added that recently a few incidents took place in Karachi and the government is looking closely into them.

India has increased ceasefire violations across the LoC in the past few months.

A day earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Indian troops initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation in Hajipir and Bedori sectors along the LoC, targeting the civilian population.

A 13-year-old girl, identified as Iqra Shabbir, embraced martyrdom as Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations.

On Saturday, Indian forces resorted to indiscriminate firing across the LoC injuring three Pakistani civilians critically.

"Indian Army troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation using mortars and automatics in Nikial Sector along LOC deliberately targeting the civilian population. Due to indiscriminate fire in Khanni and Ooli villages, three innocent civilians received critical injuries.

"All injured evacuated and being provided with medical care," the ISPR had said.

Pakistan had summoned senior Indian envoys and diplomats after every ceasefire violation to protest strongly against India's unprovoked aggression.

Nearly 40 injured in grenade attack on JI rally in Karachi

At least 39 people were injured in a grenade attack on a Jamaat-i-Islami rally in Karachi on Wednesday evening, officials said.

The blast took place near the main truck that was part of the rally in Gulshan-i-Iqbal area, a JI spokesperson said.

Of the total, one person was stated to be in critical condition while no deaths were reported, according to Meeran Yousuf, the media coordinator to the Sindh health minister.

She earlier said five of the injured were taken to Al Mustafa Hospital, seven to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), 11 to Aga Khan University Hospital and 10 to Liaquat National Hospital.

According to Yousuf, a majority of the injured received “very minor injuries”, while some were discharged.

East Senior Superintendent of Police Sajid Sadozai said two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle threw an RGD-1 grenade at the rally and fled.

He had earlier ruled out that the blast was caused by a planted bomb.

The explosion, which took place near Bait-ul-Mukarram Masjid, also shattered the windows of nearby cars.

The banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) claimed responsibility for the attack through social media.

The JI rally was being held in connection with Youm-i-Istehsal (the day of exploitation), which is being observed today to mark one year since India revoked occupied Kashmir’s semi-autonomous status on August 5.

In a tweet, JI chief Sirajul Haq termed the bomb attack a “cowardly act”.

“Indian agents are still present in the city who could not tolerate the expression of solidarity with the people of Kashmir,” he said. “We will not be frightened by such vile acts and will speak up for the people of Kashmir with increased determination.”

JI spokesperson Zahid Askari said the rally continued after the blast and it was addressed by JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman at Hasan Square. In his speech, Rehman condemned Indian atrocities against Kashmiris and the attack on the rally and demanded the arrest of the culprits.

RAW behind multiple hand grenade attacks in Sindh, find investigators

KARACHI: Indian intelligence agency, RAW, is behind the multiple hand grenade attacks in the city, security officials have found after a thorough probe, ARY NEWS reported citing sources.

According to the investigators probing the matter, multiple attacks were carried out in the province especially in Karachi where unidentified men hurled RGD1 hand grenades to cause panic and casualties.

“We have tracked the use of similar hand grenades, RGD1 explosives, in the attacks,” they said adding that recent attacks point out support of the RAW to the local terror module that is behind the attacks.

The sources said that the law enforcement authorities have arrested 12 people during separate raids in the city. “They are undergoing an investigation process currently,” they said.

The attacks have been carried out in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Hub Chowki, Manzil Pump, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad area of the city besides also launching attacks in Ghotki and Larkana areas of the city.

Earlier in the day, the Karachi police claimed to have arrested 12 people following a raid in different areas of the metropolis in connection with a grenade blast reported in Gulshan-e-Hadeed last night.

The investigation team is collecting more evidence with the help of CCTV cameras installed around the blast site.

Moreover, the Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon has suspended SHO Steel Town for showing negligence in a grenade blast carried out by unidentified assailants in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi on Tuesday night.

The unidentified men hurled a grenade on the Jashan-e-Azadi stalls in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area. According to BDS, the terrorists have used Russian-made RGD-1 grenade in the attack.
