Shadab Khan speaking to the media:

"My form has not been good recently but I got a lot of rest after the Asia Cup. You do get mentally down after playing a lot of cricket and not performing. Obviously, the skills are there but the much-needed rest has helped me get over the mental barrier. The past is past now"

"Fakhar Zaman is a big player. He is impactful player not that consistent but highly impactful. When he performs the team wins. He already has 3 tons this year in winning cause. We have no doubts about him. We wanted to give him mental space. We'll always support him"

"The conditions so far in India have felt similar to Pakistan. Even the last warm-up felt like we were playing in Rawalpindi"

"I feel the champion of this World Cup will be a good bowling side because the conditions here offer flat tracks and small boundaries. We have world-class bowlers and I feel as a bowling unit we have to perform really well to become champions"

Shadab thinks all pitches in India are similar? India has over 50 stadium.s Many of them are unique in their nature. Look how Australia struggled against Netherlands with bat.

Tbf, this is probably one of the only times I've seen the guy give a sensible interview.

Good interview. Hope this is a sign things are going to change. Fingers crossed.

I think he is right. ICC usually prepares flat tracks for WCs and the nature of the pitch in terms of bounce and carry will be similar to Pak,SL than Aus or SA. Australia didn't struggle due to the normal nature of pitch but rather due to the weather and overcast conditions. A classic example is Hyderabad where in IPL we usually see low scores assisting spin whereas in ODIs we see 350+ scores regularly. Dharamsala is the only stadium where we might see it assisting pace mainly due to the conditions being similar to English conditions. So he has a point as far as pitches are concerned.

I think Shadab has a flaw in his action( which I have explained on here and through a mutual acquaintance to him with a images). Under stress he falls to pieces. It's interesting that in one of the games he was actaully trying to spin the ball from from the side, and it did spin but the next one was a full toss.

Seems to be down to earth and not flying in cloud 9 for once
I mean he admitted he didn't bowl well and needs to improve and actually backed fakhar as well, and for once wasn't delusional and straight up admitted that he's the only player in the squad capable of outbatting the opposition.

I expected him to say " I am a world class bowler on par with kuldeep, and Babar has left kohli in the dust 😂😂"

But he actually spoke the truth this time around. People can change so who knows, I'm genuinely happy with this interview though.

Are Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Eden Gardens that different than the Pakistani stadiums?

Chennai is more foreign but these guys have enough experience playing on turners and they'll still be more at home there than the South Africans.

Bro how do you see shadab in world cup i know his form has dropped down but we know shadab turns it around in icc tournamemts?

Fair comments from Shadab and a much more mature approach than some of the sarcy comments we get from Babar.

He is a big match player but even putting that aside, he will find more purchase in Indian conditions than the wet, humid, terrible Sri Lankan ones.

He won't have a great economy rates but that's not his job. He'll get us wickets in the middle in every game and hopefully run through the Afghans and South Africans in Chennai, InshAllah.

He is a match winner either with a bat or ball and he can create an impact with his athletic fielding skills too.

I am sure he wil come strong in world cup matches.

Good choices of words, that's how one should always respond, be humble and don't get carried away.

As for pitches in India, majority are the typical usual graveyard for bowlers so don't expect them to be any different from the road pitches of Pakistan. Subcontinent in general prepares garbage pitches there is no question about it, apart from Sri Lanka

Pitches will be really flat to start off the tournament but will gradually become slower with spinners becoming increasingly important as the tournament progresses. Pakistan's best bet against SENA teams is to play them later in the tournament. In that sense we have a good schedule.

I'm not overly impressed by Shadab's continual insistence to play leagues even when bowling absolute horror.

I hope he realises that having time to mentally rest is beneficial to what should be his primary aim of serving Pakistan cricket.

However, Shadab's brilliant attitude has always been spoken about by his coaches. He always seems to pull it together before a big tournament comes. Let's hope he does it again.

Seems like he's warming the bench in ILT20.

Hasaranga has replaced his place both with the bat and the ball

Hasaranga was their no.1 spinner anyways

But it’s funny how they benched Shadab, their performances improved drastically and they completely forgot he is in their squad lol

Shaddy is still not learning. It would be better for him to go to First Class and gain some experience. Otherwise he will keep bowling those half trackers for the rest of his career.

He is the worst frontline ODI spinner going around and worse than a few part timers as well. Pakistani spinners are the worst collectively as well.

Surprised to see his regression in T20's though.

Shadab Khan leading from the front as a captain. First a decent spell with the ball and now a spectacular performance with the bat. Half century for him. His bowling figures today were 24/1. He is currently on 68*(38)

Currently some of the part timers are better bowlers than Shadab like maxwell, root etc. One of the most overrated player in Pakistan's history.

Now Shadab will remain fully fit for the entire PSL and may be couple of T20 series and after that he will again get injured before important test series or event and will be out for 3-4 months

It was good to see Shadab making a good comeback. First he did it with the ball and then won his team the match with his batting, Brilliant inning by him along with Salman. Let's see if he can carry this form throughout the tournament because World Cup i just around the corner and we need someone like him because all of his replacements have failed recently.

Club cricketer, not international level. Majority of the Pakistani players are not international grade.
His T20I record is good. Was excellent in both the T20 World Cups he featured in. Let's not mix his performances of the other formats.

Wasim Akram while speaking on a TV show :

“Your captain, who is in form and has scored 74 runs on 41 balls in the last match, why didn’t he come at number three or four? He (Shadab) said in the post-match interview that the wicket was a bit difficult, so I wanted a proper batsman to bat. I hope this is a language barrier and maybe this is not what he meant. Because if we interpret this, it means that I will go on an easy wicket and send someone else on a difficult wicket.”

Shadab gets the wicket of Sarfaraz Ahmed on the first ball of his spell against the QG in the ongoing match between IU and QG. Can he be the captain cool for his side, who steer them home too?. His figures so far 1/5 in 1 over.
