What do you guys make of this? Do the media really have to bring up his past just for the sake of it? Everyone has done stuff they are not proud of

It might have been 800 years ago, but this wasn't a mistake this was crime. He is going to have to live with it.

MO WORRIES Pakistan spot-fixer Mohammad Amir free to tour England after being granted UK visa

MOHAMMAD AMIR can play against England this summer after being granted a visa.

The fast bowler had to stay at home as the rest of the Pakistan squad jetted to their UK base in Canterbury on Monday.

Amir, 26, was jailed for six months in the UK and slapped with a five-year ban from cricket for spot-fixing at Lord’s in 2010, meaning his application was delayed.

He was previously granted a visa to tour England in 2016 and played county cricket for Essex last year.

Amir is married to a British citizen and his son was born in London during last summer’s ICC Champions Trophy.

The left-armer will now travel to the UK on Wednesday to rejoin his team-mates.

Amir has collected 42 wickets at 26.26 in 10 Tests on British soil and starred as Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India at The Oval in the Champions Trophy final last June.

He will lead his side’s bowling attack with leg-spinner Yasir Shah and quick Wahab Riaz missing from the touring party.

Pakistan play a Test against Ireland in Dublin on May 11 before two against England at Lord’s and Headingley, followed by two ODI’s in Scotland.

They kick off the tour with a match against Kent on April 28, before taking on Northamptonshire on May 4.

Amir is in the process of applying for an indefinite leave to remain visa which could allow him to acquire a British passport in the next five years.

When PCB and certain cricketers were cheerleading his comeback some wisely warned the spotfixingtag will remain with him thruout his career and will affect the rest of the Pakistan Team also. His wife and child both are British-residents so its something he would have to face all time. Hope this does'nt affect other team members but it does.

That's inevitable. Even here in India Azhar/Jadeja/CSK/RR will forever connected with scandals.

He will live with that stigma for the rest of his career. How much it would dictate his legacy post cricket is up to him and his future performances.

He has to learn to live with the legacy of his crime - as AFM said, he has the chance to leave a positive impression on fans, but Amir has not been that good since he returned to Test colours. I personally think he is very lucky to have been selected again.

What some unknown journalist says in a paper shouldn't matter. Amir is one of the best bowlers going round. He showed it last summer in England itself. Perhaps the whipping we dished out in the semi still hurts when England thought they had all but won the tournament. Or the fact that he contributed to us coming to their home and drawing a test series is a cause of plenty of frustration. Keep in mind whenever England come to the desert we slap them around. So much so that they stopped visiting.

Its over now - done and dusted. Time to move on

He is an ex-convict and there is very little anyone can do about it.. he will have to live with it...

It's the Sun,what do you expect...

As for the subject matter, yes.Amir will have to live with what he's done. The hypocritical English media will hound him for the rest of his career.

Fixing has a stigma attached to it similar to taking performance enhancing drugs in athletics. There will always be an asterisk attached to the name.

It's as if cheating in sports is a newfound revelation.

Seriously, these newspapers think that people are dumbfounded every time some sportsman cheats.

I remember when Armstrong admitted doping, the whole world was shocked!

They took all his medals and trophies away but not the hundreds of millions he raised for cancer research.

It didn't seem to affect Shane Warne.

Both are totally different..performance enhancement drugs are taken with the hope of winning where as fixing most often leads to losing.. Performance enhancement drugs mostly affect individual (of course there are exceptions) where as fixing is generally in a team game, thus impacting the whole team

So people shouldn't state facts? He himself admitted to spot-fixing, hence a spot-fixer. No one should be offended by other's stating facts.

You need to understand the concept of 'hiqarat' - how we say things.

Unfortunately not all people are as forgiving and spineless towards betrayal and spot fixing as Pakistanis. We need to face it.

English media love to call the kettle black.

Amir has been here post saga anyway, he has played against England and played FOR Essex. The crowds even fell back in love with his exuberant celebrations in 2016 and were thrilled by him in the CT.

None of the guys will be under the spotlight, just the media trying to make eye catching headlines.

As already mentioned, it's the SUN - always coming out with sensationalist headlines to sell copies.

Some of the media find it hard to let this go and I'm sure they will remind Amir of it at every opportunity in England.

And i think it will work in favour of aamir
He is kind of player who getz the best out off him when get mocked

I acknowledge he committed a crime. But people who have robbed banks and committed fraud have been given passports so why is someone who bowled a no-ball that had no effect on the outcome of the match being treated like a villain?

Well the "convict" got UK VISA in 2016 for England tour, 2017 for Champions Trophy, 2018 for England tour, and he will get the visa for the World Cup in 2019 as well. These journalist can just keep burning.

Amir is fraudulent. He'll have to live with this tag for the rest of life, and rightly so.

BBC sport cricket are the guys that really disappoint me, always refer to Amir as a fixer rather than a cricketer
Also they only want to cover Pakistan cricket when it’s in negative light
Didn’t cover the psl, but the first to jump onto the match fixing case
Don’t cover the psl, but first to make articles on players refusing to go to Pakistan for PSL etc

I don’t understand why they are so unnecessarily negative towards Pakistan cricket

Most have moved on. He toured ENG in 2016, played county cricket, CT etc..

More sensation then anything.
