"The target is to play for Pakistan" : Usama Mir

Batting is the problem

Inability to identify players with actual potential is the problem. No one in PCB is capable. The Lahore Development staff did a better job identifying players than PCB has in the past two decades.

Before some on you start Bashing his Fc stats without any perspective let's see the numbers of Shane Warne, Danish Kaneria & Yasir Shah in their first 2 FC seasons.

Legspin is the most difficult cricketing skill. It takes lots of match practice to develop control and maturity & consistency comes later than other spinners or pacers.

Inconsistent chances, moist soggy wickets, early morning winter starts does not help either. Recent examples being Usman Qadir & Usama Mir.

Usama has lots of potential/talent. He has a lovely high rhythmical action and near perfect pivot. He gets bounce due to his height and high arm action and bounce makes leggies deadly. He has got decent control for his age and turns his leggies aswell as googly sharply and has an excellent flipper in his armoury aswell.

Moreover, he works very hard on his fitness, batting & fielding. His fitness & fielding are top notch.

Usama ! Keep working hard & keep your feet grounded.

Oh Boy. You were so right.

Today his Spell was magical indeed. Sharp turn, zipp, bounce.

Though, we should consider that the pitch was an unprepared day 5 pitch which is why there was alot of spin to offer, thus we can't judge him off this 1 performance.

Though, i will have to saw all his deliveries were good length, which even the big spin players like Misbah couldn't tackle. He bowled at wonderful lengths, but i would judge his spin on more better wickets.

Best leggie in Pak. atm. Shadab is a bit raw, but imo Usama is ready for international cricket.

Thank You. When Usama was 16-17 he played a Ramzan T20 tournament. It was televised. He was getting massive turn and was bowling legspin, google, zooter, flipper all with decent control. He was 6 feet tall than and was getting bounce which is key.

He stood out for me and by far.

At that time His action was very unorthodox and needed work. In last 4 years he has improved his action massively.

Only Potential cannot take you far. Usama is fitness and diet conscious from last3-4 years, he works very hard on his fielding. Still remember his brilliant catch in domestic match 2 years ago. He is very mature and sensible and I hope he remains on the right path. That is what is important.

Have been saying this for an year that with Afridi retiring and Hafeez and Malik aging plus mostly failing against top 4 bowling sides of any generation in Odi Cricket Usama and Shadab can both fit into playing eleven one as a Bowler, brilliant fielder and someone who can hold a bat atleast and the other being a decent allrounder.

2019 is too far for Hafeez and Malik. At Genuine 37 years age only 1 International Cricketer ever had a great WorldCup with the Bat and his name is Sangakara. He is leagues ahead of Malik and Hafeez as a batsman and Cricketer both. I don't see either of Malik or Hafeez being at their own individual best at the Age of 39 in 2019 that too with one of them reportedly not revealing his actual age which is +2,3.

It is important that 90 % of those players who will be playing 2019 worldcup make Champions Trophy squad so that they have experience of playing in England. For that Usama, Shadab, Harris, Saud, Saad, K Ghulam, Amad etc must be in the mix of things now. Give them 2 years run before they play their first WC.

Shadab has a higher ceiling Usama is more refined prodyct right now

When it comes to leg spin bowling there's no comparison. Usama is way better. Shadab is obviously better as an all rounder. No reason why both shouldn't be in the squad

highest wicket taker of the ACC emerging cup so far with 11 wickets, but he was expensive today, and got hit for many boundaries, conceded 58 runs in 8 overs, eco of 7.25. the pitch was not even flat where batsmen were scoring freely, it was a low scoring game, he still conceded most runs.

Hussein Talat was the difference. Without him we lose big. Shame Mir couldn't have had a better day, we could have one the match if he'd been the slightest bit better.

Usama Mir bowled a beautiful over to his Mentor Shoaib Malik.

Created two chances in an over against Malik who is having a purple patch.

Mohammad Nawaz dropped Malik.

# Pity

in my opinion a much improved bowler .... he has excellent control and a big heart...

am a big fan of leggies so think we should play 2 legges in all formats and usama should start with 50 n 20 over games. + he is decent fielder and reasonably okies tai lender batsmen

1/30 in 4 overs in the CPL - not been that impressive in the tournament so far.

I don't really ever see him getting into any Pakistan team, unless he can improve his bowling a lot, improve his batting and his fielding. Shadab is a lot better at bowling, fielding and batitng and he is only improving.

Usama Mir doesn't seem to have improved much since PSL2017. He has potential due to his height and the natural flight he gets because of his height, but he isn't using it.
