I'm opening a thread as a tribute to this amazing innings!!!

Whattt an Innings !!!!Has to be 1 of the best Innings played in a KO Situation...
This compares to the 175* played by Kapil which changed the face of Indian Cricket....Expecting the same with this Innings wrt Women's Cricket in India !!!

This innings by Harmanpreet Kaur is the greatest ODI innings I´ve ever seen in Women´s cricket. Well and truly. If anyone out there doesn´t quite understand some batsmen talk about when they say of feeling "In the zone", just watch this innings. A most accurate depiction of what being in the zone means. Fabulous hitting.

Australia.... Well, a big challenge ahead of them. Can´t see them getting there barring a blinder from Meg Lanning. Only she from that batting line-up can dare to look at that required run-rate without fear, or in Women´s cricket in general perhaps.

She hit some Sixes at 80+ Metres. Is the Cricket ball in Women's Cricket as Hard and heavy as it's in Men's Cricket?

I think 80+ Metres Sixes would be a Six even in Men's Cricket. Watch some of the highlights and it takes no less application to play such an innings even in Women's Cricket.

Cricket ball dimensions differ depending on the level of cricket being played.

Men's cricket: weight between 5.5 and 5.75 ounces (155.9g to 163g), circumference between 8.8125 and 9 inches (22.4cm to 22.9cm).

Women's cricket: weight between 140g and 151 g, circumference between 21cm and 22.5cm.

Junior cricket (under-13): weight between 133g and 144g, circumference between 20.5cm and 22cm.

Kaur smashed every Australian bowler.

Mithali Raj almost lost the game for India. She seems to be a great Test player, but too slow for LOI format. I was praying she got out and give someone else a chance.

These pitches are death bed for spinners. Even Aus girls in response were brutal. Indian pacers bowled faster and actually swung the ball and destroyed Aus top order.

A win against England in finals will make these girls rich.
Just by watching yesterday's match, I have become a fan of some of the Indian girls. Some great talents who unfortunately do not get any recognition.

It is true that Mitali Raj is a test match batter and not a LOI one. She does not have top gear in her batting and gets bogged down. Her batting is guaranteed to lose matches unless someone else plays a blinder. It was Veda Krishnamurthy who played that blinder against New Zealand and here Kaur played that role against Australia.

I hope that the Indians openers for once give their side a decent start in the final so that Mitali Raj does not have to bat under pressure in every knock and she gets to play with more freedom in the final.

Smriti actually has played 2 good back to back knocks in the start, unless you want both the openers to play well.

I have not seen the innings but looks like she just demolished the aussies. Has to be one of the greatest knock in KO games in all the cricket.

Chandigarh: "She bats like Virender Sehwag and is aggressive like Virat Kohli," said Harmampreet Kaur's sister Hemjit, summing up the family's elation at the batter's hurricane knock that took India to the ICC women's World Cup final.

Celebrations were on at Harmanpreet's home in Moga in Punjab after her 171-run knock against Australia - one of the greatest ODI knocks - steered India into the World Cup final with a 36-run victory.

Back home in Moga, friends and well-wishers have been dropping in since last night to congratulate the family.

Youngsters from the neighbourhood have been dancing to the beats of Punjabi 'dhol' while the family has been busy distributing sweets.

"Right from her childhood, she has been playing cricket with boys. Her hunger for runs never dies and this is reflected in her strike rate," her sister said.

"Harman is always positive. On field she always behaves like Virat Kohli and is aggressive like him. However, off- field, she is quite calm and composed. Right from her early days, she treated Virender Sehwag as her batting idol and even bats like him," she said.

About her scintillating knock, Hemjit said, "had it not been a rain-shortened match, she would have scored a double ton and inflicted more misery on the opposition."

Harmanpreet's innings yesterday even drew comparisons with Kapil Dev's historic 175 against Zimbabwe during the 1983 World Cup campaign.

"If Harman's innings is being compared with the legendary Kapil Dev, then it is a great honour for her," her sister said.

For Harmanpreet and her sister, their father - the 52-year-old Harmandar Singh - has been a role model.

"Her first coach has been our father. He was a good cricketer, but due to some circumstances he could not reach where he wanted to in the sport. But today he is able to realise his dream through his daughter," she said.

Harmandar Singh said that Harmanpreet has promised him that India will lift the Cup.

"We are all very proud of her feat. The nation is proud of her," he said.

The cricketer's mother Satwinder Kaur said her daughter has worked hard to achieve what she has done today.

"When girls of her age would be carefree, she would sweat it out practicing for hours together. Even at home, she used to practice outside. We are proud of her," Kaur said.

Hemjit, who is an English teacher, said that their parents always supported and encouraged both the girls to achieve their goals in life.

"The mindset in the society towards girls is changing and more and more parents are fully backing their daughters to achieve their goals," Hemjit said.

Watched harmanpreet kaur's video that was vigorous shot making from her

Loved her backlift she does have a very good technique for clean hitting

Thanks for un-merging the thread ,its a spl knock for Indian Women, telecasted live, can inspire many girls in India to take up cricket.

If we win the WC it will be a game changer for Women's cricket here.

Hopefully we do .

Smriti actually has played 2 good back to back knocks in the start, unless you want both the openers to play well.

Smriti Madhana scored 90 and 100 in the first two matches and then she has failed for six times in a row. Opener falling early in an innings obviously puts Mitali Raj in severe pressure as she has to bat practically as an opener and she is forced to bat conservatively in the initial overs to prevent further damage.

Having said that, I hope that Mandhana once again comes good in the final. That would take much of the load off from the other batters to follow.

I don't watch women's cricket but man did she butcher the aussies. Her hitting was so clean. She smashed every bowler. Looks so complete as an odi bat
