What's new

"The way I play is that I never hold back my natural stroke-play" : Faheem Ashraf

Young, bowls good pace, accuracy can be worked at.

Batting is pretty good as well, Not sure if his list A average is on par with his batting ability.

1.Decent for a 4th seamer.
2.Can play against Asian teams, not against big boys.
3.Raw talent, which can be worked upon.

Had a decent bowl, apart from 2 wides, and a beamer.

Something to work with. Has pace, few technical modifications can make him a decent ODI bowler

Looks a strong lad !!! Will improve as he is young !!!! Looked a bit nerous due to debut !!!

Hope he wins us the game, but I don't see him lasting at this level. These Anwar, Bhatti, Imad type all-rounders always make a good impression first up before fading away.

Shadab is here to stay though.

He actually looks like a batsman. They are throwing bouncers at him and he has done well so far.

His batting looks good, I hope you are watching the match.

We don't have a good track-record with all-rounders. Shadab will survive because he makes the team on his bowling alone.

Fahim looking like a better ODI batsman than Hafeez, Azhar and Shezad

Lacks match awareness like a true Pakistani. Well done.

Yes he is looking good, but my expectations from all-rounders are low.

Should take it as batting all rounder. Has power, shots and intent.

As a bowling All-rounder he will never make it.

Not impressed with his presence. Dropped another important catch today and then was super casual given the game circumstances

I really liked the look of the guy. He looks to have good technique and is not just a blind slogger. He can easily be our Klusenar.

Guys, he looked really good with the bat! Unlucky to get run out, and he wasn't batting like a slogger at all. Rather, seems to have a pretty solid defense and technique. But he can hit big. Just what we need in our lower order. Really excited to have him in the team and looking forward to seeing him more. Also bowls in the high 130's and is not a trundler as some experts here made him out to be.

Well he was not afriad to go after shot balls seems to be a strong lad with big hitting ability plus 4/5 overs. Batting wise he looked above imad. Should plat at imads position

Today i have seen enough of his BATTING to draw some hope for the future. I wont declare him as the big hitting allrounder that Pakistan need so early, but i liked what i saw in terms of batting and hitting ability.

Had a decent first game. I would even say good, as it was a Knock out at a big stage.

Bro he hit some good blows even when he wanted to defend. So i am hoping he can definitely hit big if he wants to.

I am afraid he might get dropped for Shadab against England

He looks to have a good technique with the bat. Decent bowler. He need to work on his fielding

You hit the nail on the head. Doesn't matter what his average is or bowling speed or if he swings it. We desperately need hitters, and one in the lower order for sure.

Yes he can. But lets first see if he can do it against better sides with better bowlers. Impressive though.

He still picked up 2 wickets on his debut, despite not being perfect with the ball. And yes, looked like a proper batsman while out on the pitch. We surely have someone here who the coaches can work on and improve. People need to stop bashing him over his control, line and length and all that crap, and need to realize he's young and raw.

Trust me he had something.

Stats aren't everything.

He could get us crucial boundaries vs England.

Looks a really strong hitter. Power comes from within in his case really. Surely he hasnt trained for it :)) hopefully they let his flair and flamboyance flourish and not coach him to be "sensible" and "technically sound". His hitting technique seems really nice. Would wait till he performs against a better side though.

Looked better and more assured than Babar, Azhar and Hafeez.

Faheem Ashraf looks quality

Looked very handy with the bat and the type of player that will propel Pakistan into the modern era. Very impressed with his little cameo.... doesn't seem like a bottler at all. He must stay in the team.

If he can develop into a batting all rounder he would be good. He needs to improve his bowling though.

bowling no, batting yes and even though he dropped a sitter, still a good fielder

some say has pace, i say we need better bowler, he can developed as a good bowler? not at this stage i think

only based on his batting he qualifies for the ODI team can be tried at top or middle order

but there was a time when a aunty was a good batsman but he was still dropped because of his average bowling

Bowled 140 kph Chief Destroyer can he be a good batting allrounder ? Does he have potential ?

His bowling was actully pretty good nothing like special, but the way people descirbed his bowling i thought he was going to be horrible lol

I think he looks good. Can definitely bat ahead of malik and hafeez...and even azhar.

I was very impressed with his batting. Looks like a proper batsman playing with straight bat.

This was his first match, understandably nervous but looks a very hand player. Id like to see more of him though.

They need to back these young guns... he wasn't a trundler, bowled in mid 80s. But the batting showed promise.... immediately took the game to srilanka just as they were getting on top.

In the modern era, you have to fight fire with fire.

I think so. Speeds were very good and his batting looked assured. Looks to play the ball on merit and seems to understand strike rotation.

His batting looks solid. People will laugh at me on this but style is reminiscent of Sanath Jayasuriya.

I know. I thought he was a mere slogger, going by PPers views but he was very correct but aggressive. Just the sort of player we need

Certainly has a plethora of potential

Massive upgrade on Anwar ali specially batting

bowling need works but it will improve like we saw hasan ali who was not good with ball when he debut

with mickey he will improve INSHALLAH

always a big fan of him .watched him in domestic and some footage of his batting against ZIM A he was

very good with the 52 he got against Cremer and co

I am not convinced at this stage.

Yes he can bowl decent pace and can hit big shots.

That alone is not enough if it's not quality bowling or batting/hitting.

But he deserves a run in the side - let's see how far he can get.

I still rate Yamin as the more complete all rounder. Fahim is more of a T20 specialist atm but could be groomed.

He is anything but a trundler. And in batting he can hit big.

Some serious potential there, Hopefully he works hard.

Not seen Yamin play so can't comment. But as far as ashraf is concerned the innings against Bangladesh was no fluke..... you gotta give these type of players chance to bloom.

It was refreshing to see someone coming in a tough situation and launch a fight back. It certainly helped Sarfraz not press the self destruct button for a brief period.....

Can't believe people are comparing him to Anwar Ali.

This guy bowls at 135-140kph and has looks proper batsman.

I think his bowling was a bit meh. If he doesnt improve that he will be a bit-part player. Azhar really needs to work on him, get his seam position right because he showed today he does have decent pace

His batting looks more solid than batting .... staright bat and very assured at crease !! Bowling still looked too much rraw but potential is there !!! Should be a permanent 7 at imads place

he has been selected as an allroudner, lets see how he bats

2 dead-weights in the team atm Hafeez and Azhar Ali replace both with Faheem and Harris and we would be a lot more competitive

he looked like a unpolished stoakes :P .... dont murder me on this comment lol but he has the talent and similar style

Raw potential atm .
Needs to improve his control and seam position. Something he would have done already with a better system but NCA and domestic cricket is a joke .
Certainly enough to work with .
Shouldnt replace Shadab though.
