Astounding that mayweather made more money from one 30 minute fight than the annual salaries of ronaldo and messi combined. They don't call him "money" for no reason....

I'm always astounded by the amount of money in baseball considering it really doesn't come across nearly as popular as NBA or NFL

I spent six years in the US and while I know dozens of die hard basketball and NFL fans, I don't know one who follows MLB beyond being a casual fan, if at all.

Yet in the money stakes it's as big as the other two

No surprise to see the decline of Heavyweight boxing in the US, with equivalent risk free money in the NBA where you don't get your brains beat up, why would you want to get into boxing where the money is less and the risk for damage is far greater.

The amount of matches are pretty huge plus unlike NFL AND NBA the top ones aren't in top 20. #37 is first.

Also w.r.t baseball it's city dependent,Chicago for example is massively into baseball, I live near Wrigley and they are passionate even for useless matches ,also the reason for having two teams(White Sox) in baseball.

Sad is not to see any NHL players, I have seen many from Toronto complain about high salaries of their players and lol not a single person on here.

The nhl is not nearly as popular as the other big 3 sports but its slowly gaining ground. Also Toronto has Kyle lowry and DeMar Derozan who both made the list so atleast its something.

Yah I think most people watch baseball in the fall when the playoffs are on but the reason the players make so much is 162 games a season and also there is no salary cap so some teams just pay a ridiculous amount of money.

Yea but NHL fans are very passionate for their franchise ,I find it much more interesting to watch hockey than baseball which btw is a complete stadium sport coz its kinda boring on TV,also I think it's more of a summer sport than fall.

Nd meant not a single Leafs player.

Yah I would rather watch hockey as well. It's sad tho I mean McDavid will probally get 12 million a year from the leafs and thats the upper echelon in the nhl compare that to the NBA where bench players are making 15 million plus lol

Even dessis follow basket ball and football, as these are fast paced and simple games, hence you didn't know many who follow baseball. Baseball like cricket is complicated and slow paced but is America's national pass-time and has a very long history and great number of followers in "pure Americans" .

Even I, living here for many years could not get myself interested in baseball, I tried but follow Basketball and football.

America is such a rich country, even many of our unknown athletes are some of the richest in the world.
