"There are some greats of the game who have come from this part of the world" : Kagiso Rabada

South African premier fast bowler Kagiso “KG” Rabada has voiced his satisfaction with the security arrangements that have been availed to the team in Pakistan.

A heavy security presence greeted the Proteas‚ who are in Pakistan for the first time in 14 years‚ when they arrived in Karachi on Saturday to start preparations for the first of two Test matches against the home side.

The two sides play the first Test in Karachi from January 26 and the second Test in Rawalpindi from February 4.

The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the three T20s on February 11‚ 13 and 14.

“I have a lot of faith in the security and the way it has been implemented. I feel safe and I feel like I can just focus on the cricket‚” Rabada who is going to lead the South African pace attack with Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje.

“I think Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have done a great job in ensuring that we are safe and hats off to them.

"Obviously it’s not the ideal situation‚ Covid-19 is also not the ideal situation as well‚ but they have made it work and I am glad to say that I have had a chance to tour Pakistan because they hold prestige in international cricket.

“The guys are really excited to be here.

"I have been to basically all the countries where they play international cricket and this is the only country I haven’t been to until now.

"There are some greats of the game who have come from these parts and it’s just nice to be at an area where some of them come from‚ and to play against their team in their own conditions.”

The Proteas have been training hard and also assessing the conditions since their arrival in Karachi at the weekend.

“The practice square that we have been playing on‚ it has been keeping low and there is not much lateral movement‚ especially when the ball gets older.

"We suspect that reverse swing is going to play a role and the batters have to adjust to the ball not bouncing as much as it does in SA.

“If the ball is not bouncing‚ it means that it is going to stay low and our batters will have to adjust to that.

"For us as the bowlers it means we are going to have to bowl straighter lines and that is cricket 101.

"We are not sure about how the venue of the match is going to play like‚ but we have an idea. We’ll just have to see what is offered to us when we get to the stadium.”

Rabada said he expects Pakistan to come out fighting in their own backyard.

“I am expecting Pakistan to come out fighting. That is one thing that they do because they’ve got some good players and it’s not going to be easy at all.

"I know they are going to fight because they have good bowlers and good batters. This is going to be a Test match where we are going to have to earn our rights to win the series. I’d love to go back home with the series trophy in the bag.”

Karachi walo, show some love for the Champion Rabada!

I still can't believe that De kock, Rabada, Nortje etc are in Pakistan. No fuss, no drama whatsoever (from both sides) which is good to see...

Hope Smith, Cummins,Root, Stokes, Kane etc follow suit. :)

All hail South Africa! The nation that has produced the most talented and freakish cricketers in last 50 years in all departments.

Great to see Rabada excited for the series.

He made some really good points about the ball staying low, but I suspect that's partly due to the fact that the pitches at the place they are staying aren't that high quality.

However, reverse swing will play a huge role in this series.

Pakistan are lucky that Hasan Ali is back, and even in domestic cricket, most wickets for pacers either come when the ball is completely new or at that stage where it can reverse. Hasan Ali has a huge role to play in this series, and hopefully, he can get some good performances and help us win the series.

We shouldn't under-estimate the South African bowlers either, we will have to be on top of our game against their bowling line-up. All of them are quick and all of them are dangerous.

The key on batting on such wickets will be to make sure that you defend the ones that are straight on the stumps and play the balls on merit. If they bowl in your strong zones, play the shots you are comfortable with.

Abid Ali should be comfortable with back-foot shots, whereas Azhar Ali can play to different parts of the ground.

If we can keep Nortje under pressure by preventing him from settle, it will help us immensely. Additionally, we will have to make sure that Maharaj/Shamsi don't get settled in the bowling.

Having a leg-spinner like Yasir puts the bowling advantage on our side, and it will be crucial for him and Sajid to bowl together and make sure that they are keeping things tight and also taking wickets.

It's great to see the SA team in Pakistan after one and a half-decade. Hope to see good cricket by both sides.

We can get out Root and Smith :yasir but KW might score a triple against us :jk

If there is any pace or bounce in any of the wickets, this guy will be lethal.

This is why I think Pakistan should go with low and slow turning tracks.

Karachi that is certainly feasible but not Pindi, I still maintain that other than Rabada the other SA fast bowlers don't have experience on Asian wickets, plus NSK is a ground some of our batsmen have dominated on both the domestic and Intl level.

InshAllah may Allah save our team from nazaar but i've got high hope for the Karachi test.

Who amongst the veterans is here? Think Smith’s role means he has to be in SAF.

Boucher’s here though, right? Their pointers and presence should aid this SAF side as these are unfamiliar waters.

Anrich Nortje is a bowler who on his day can demolish any batting line-up.

If he finds his rhythm and form, he will make life tough for Pakistan.

Karachi perhaps he won't make life difficult but Pindi most certainly, for Pakistan it will still be a relief to be facing a lesser threatening pace attack as compared to that of NZ who were just all over us.

He might be effective at Rawalpindi. I remember when India toured Pakistan in 2004 and Balaji/Pathan were bowling the perfect length and swinging/seaming the ball to great effect while ,surprisingly, Akhtar, "youngster" Fazal and Sami bowled absolute rubbish.

Rabada will be lethal if he gets some away swing/seam otle if there's enough bounce and pace. But he's no Steyn to do well on low bounce flat tracks.

If it doesn't bounce well, SA bowlers might struggle. None of their bowlers are fast, skiddy, middle-leg stump bowlers like Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah, who I believe will do extremely well in low bounce pitches.

Rabada's stamina to bowl long spells is going to be crucial. He just doesn't stop or let the energy dip.

Don't know if our batting can stand up to Rabada, Ngidi and Nortje(untested at test level) on a wicket that has even little moisture in it.

NZ will sadly be the last team to tour Pak alongside Aus.
NZ are still scarred with the 2002 series where bomb blast took place near their hotel.

If the geopolitical peace can be made between India and Pak govts, then I think Indian team would be one of the sides that would create no fuss coming to Pak.

Rabada won't let any of our openers last beyond the first 10 overs. These guys can't stand up against quality fast bowling.
