"Things are shaping well for us and this is a new dawn, a new chapter for our Test team" : M Arthur

Mickey Arthur speaking at press conference today :

"Things are shaping well for us and this is a new dawn, a new chapter for our Test team"

"We are ranked 6th at the moment in Tests and we need to get that [ranking] down "

"We've set ourselves some realistic goals with South Africa 2019 our ultimate goal"

"This is the nature of cricket; You say farewell to two legends of the game but in the next training session we have new people"

"It would be unfair on the 2 new batsmen we are bringing to the team to say that they are replacements for the two legends"

"Its incumbent upon Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and to a lesser extent Babar Azam to stand up and score the bulk of the runs now"

"If we are looking at the 2 new batsmen as replacements then we are wrong as the true replacements for Misbah/YK are Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam who will need to step up for us"

"We put injections into Azhar Ali and he is moving freely"

"We will have to monitor Azhar has he has a long term problem with his knee"

"Yasir Shah got to the right standard of fitness, albeit at the death but we make no compromises on the standards"

"That's the culture we are developing and I don't care who you are, you have to meet those standards"

"I can safely say that there will be a shuffling of the Pakistan batting order just a fraction and probably one or the two will debut"

"We cannot take Sri Lanka lightly, they are a team that's good in these conditions"

"They got some destructive batsmen and they have a good bowling attack as well"

"Sri Lanka have come out of a period where they have been under the gun a bit"

"That makes it more dangerous for us as they have a massive point to prove"

"They will come out with a win their minds and we certainly will not underestimate them at all"

"In Sarfaraz we have a very positive leader"

"He's a guy who likes to take the game on and is a attacking captain"

"Every series we go into, we go into win as we are judged on that"

"We are going to see some younger and fresher faces and all that is exciting and part of building the team going forward"

"I don't think SL will be under pressure due to the ICC investigations; if they are under pressure, its because of their performance in the last series and that makes them a very dangerous team"

Well, they were quite easy to beat for the All Blacks...I mean the Indian cricket team :srini

Hopefully both make their debuts and throw them in deep sea. They can sandwich them in the batting order with experienced batsmen. kicking babar down from 3 without giving him single series in UAE phattas and asking Azhar who is scoring daddy hundreds opening the batting is not a wise decision to come from an experienced coach like MA. I would go with the following lineup

Azhar, Sami, Babar, Haris, Shafiq, Usman, Sarfraz, Amir, Yasir, Wahab, Abbas.

I think by shuffles he means changing the positions of Babar and Shafiq. Shafiq might be promoted to 4 and no. 3 might go to Haris or Shafiq at 3 and Haris at 4.

Sami.
Azhar.
Haris.
Shafiq.
Babar.
Salahuddin.

That's the exact batting order i will go or may swap babar and shafiq's position.

5: Usman Salahudin

9: Mohammad Amir
10: Mohammad Abbas
11: Ashghar

"I can safely say that there will be a shuffling of the Pakistan batting order just a fraction and probably one or the two will debut"

I think this a misquote. I think he said probably one of the two will debut. The question was if both Haris and Usman will debut.

This more or less confirms that Azhar will be moving back to 3. I think this will be the most likeliest XI:

Shan Masood
Sami Aslam
Azhar Ali
Asad Shafiq
Babar Azam
Haris / Usman
Sarfraz Ahmed
Bilal Asif
Mohammad Amir
Yasir Shah
Hassan Ali

To accomodate shan masood somehow they are bringing azhar to number 3 , the paaarcheeee culture will never leave us.

I don't expect much from the side

If Azhar/Shafiq fall early, the side is in big trouble

Shafiq is overrated, mental midget.

Sami/Babar - New, inexperienced.
Sami puts himself under pressure when batting
Shahzad/Shan are just not good enough

we'll have a tough time

only one batsmen in the shape of sarfaraz has the ability to play spin positively now, given YK and Misbah are not there anymore

dont get me wrong Azhar Ali is a great Pakistani batsmen but he is not good at playing spin as he is to fast bowlers
