Sensational - has knocked over the much vaunted top 3 of the Indian batting and really put Pakistan in the driver's seat in this Champions Trophy.

Your best players shine at the most critical stages and that is exactly what Amir has done!

Discuss.

I must say, after he took the 3rd wicket I had flash backs of Wasim Akram; sensational adrenaline inducing stuff!

Mind you Haroon the man had a backspasm more recently and did not feature in the semi final !

Need a strong finish from Amir iA still a long way to go

The perfect time to not be Zulfiqar Babar

Definitely.

To remove Rohit, Kohli (twice) and Dhawan quickly was seriously impressive.

Saving his wickets for the big stage. Looks like the rest did him well.

I remember when he was banned I had a running argument with cricketjoshila who kept trying to say he wouldn't make any difference even if he was playing because he was overrated. Hope he's enjoying watching this final.

You can add indiafan name to that list too!

Better than Wasim's in terms of importance of wickets.

Took out the 3 top scorers for India.

Legend :amir

Botham, Lamb, Chris Lewis... I think they were equals,

Wasim trumps it in the batting department, got a match winning 33 as well

We are talking about only the finals here... Which is what I alluded to...

Wasim was tourney's best bowler too if I'm not wrong

Of course, just saying Amir wasn't a dud with the bat when needed.

Plus both did well for PAK, it's not a competition. :)

LOL no, Kohli by himself is arguably the greatest ODI batsman of all time and the GOAT chaser in ODIs and then you add Sharma and Dhawan who has been excellent in ICC Champions Trophy and they are much better scalps than those English batsmen.

Wasim had the better wicket taking deliveries though to get Lamb and Lewis with wicked reverse swing.

Lewis was an all rounder. Botham was at the end of his career as was Lamb. The deliveries were better in terms of skill but the batsmen today were far superior.

Wasim scored some valuable run as well. But, for me, Amir deserved MoM more than Wasim.

The situation was tighter in Wasim's case.. for Amir he had a big total on board..

Wasim's wickets are arguably the greatest performance in world cup final...

Amir can't be Wasim... but this itself is a performance for a generation

Really? Kohli looked incredibly vulnerable against the new ball today...

Well no, if Amir hadn't got the wickets then we know what India are capable of doing in 300 runs+ chases.

I did not compare the two bowlers, but their performances on the day and they both put the nail in the coffin of the opposition and won Pakistan the trophy.

You're judging this based on one performance?

Yes, he has a sound argument for it, up there with Sachin, Viv and Ponting.

This is the Amir we want to see. Pitching the ball up making the batsmen play, not the defensive version who angles the ball across the right-handers and doesn't make the batsmen play.

Amazing performance; the highlight of his career so far.

Should've came back into the attack for a 5fer. Ended the game within 5 overs for India tbh.

Amir was proper fast bowler of old today ... pure adrenaline, guts, hunting their prey.

Many have said what he needs back is some of the aggression and that fire was back today.

To have this redemption again happen in England as well is just perfect

It wasn't settled until Amir came in and settled it. India have gunned down these kinds of totals before.

Haroon786 doesn't give credit so easily, he respects the legacy of Wasim and his incredible feats in the WC final so to give Aamir credit as much as Wasim goes to show how well he bowled today, it was a beautiful performance and he was only required for 6 overs! it was a game changing performance! and wouldn't have minded if he was given the MOM ahead of Fakhar Zaman

This is what u call a Pakistani bowler

India top 3 vs me and Juni boy

Don't worry they will be 33/3

Dil khush kardea hai

Teams have struggled to get the top 3 out and he took care of them single handedly on a belter. Amir is a Legend :amir3

Thanks for the complement, I'm going to enjoy your threads over the next few days iA. :rp

I agree, I think he should have been co-MOM with Fakhar but you can understand why Fakhar was chosen because without his impetus would the Pakistani bowling be so pumped up with the killer scent in the first 10 15 overs? I don't think so, but then again Amir bowled magnificently, possibly the greatest LOI spell in his career and he's already had some spells that most bowlers would dream of.

World Cup is world cup. It cannot compete CT. Excellent stuff from Amir though. Hatsoff.

hopefully that puts an end to the over the top bashing. Critisim is merited but some people act as if he is Abdur Rauf

Starc is probably the only other current bowler in the world that could have done what Amir just did

Combined with what he did to dilshan in 09, he has earnt legend status for Pakistan cricket

Great Fast bowlers can do what no one else can do, turn match on its head in no time

Never in a final or a semi final... James Faulkner knocked out the big fish in the World cup final... doesn't mean he's a bowler of a generation

I think it was better than wasim since pitch was a belter had nothing in it, credit to Amir showing the world he is really World Class.

Pakistan Zindabad CT17 WINNER

Better than 92 final performance of Wasim. Against better batting side on a flat pitch he has delivered some magic deliveries to get rid of world's biggest flat pitch bullies.

Well done M. Amir you are a champion.

Unfair to compare. Skills required back then with the older ball was different. Now with 2 new balls, bowlers need more variety in the bowling. Pakistani bowlers back then had mastered the skill with old ball. I am a huge fan of Wasim but to me, Amir is a better new ball bowler. Wasim used to swing more and would lose control with the new ball.

Botham yes but lamb was nothing special and Chris lewis was a tailender.

to get dhawan, sharma and kohli twice was a phenomenal spell of bowling

Hats off to amir He was brilliant today

Better than Wasim's spell. Amir bowled an ATG and the world best ODI batsman ( twice i two balls ) and other two top orders who were the top batsmen in this champion trophy.

Wasim bowled one allrounder, one batsman and one bowler.

I don't like how people here always rush to compare someone or a performance.

It was the one of the best bowling spell I had the honor to witness.
