Yes I understand that as Prime Minister he has got many other pressing matters to be worried about. But during his numerous campaign trails and his past interviews he promised that main cricket koh aisa set karuun ga jab tehreek e insaaf kee govt aiye gee. Frankly barring the changes in the domestic cricket system which will take some time before the results can be assessed, the performance of the team has been minnow level

Maybe time for him to actually tour the PCB headquarters and take ownership of the PCB officials he has appointed, the changes taking place in domestic cricket, a speech regarding his own vision for Pakistan Cricket and the PCB

His vision to fix cricket is to bring Misbah. There is nothing more he will say unless there is a talk of making a Kashmir team.

Remember to keep discussion on cricket only.

He is the PM, not PCB head.

If PM has to run pcb, what will pcb chairman do?

Unfortunately he has failed miserably and in administration wise he is even worse than previous set up. His appointed of con man Wasim Khan And mr. polite Ehsan Mani were one of the worse appointments in Pakistan cricket board history.

You guys are crazy.
Cricket is just a sport,he has many priority issues to focus in country.

The new domestic structure and how the PCB are de-centralising their power will bring a lot of positive change. Like you said, it will be years before we see the benefits. What do you expect him to do in the meantime? There is no instant magic fix.

NO!

His job is running the country. Cricket shouldn't even be among the list of priorities.

Relax, IK has it under control.

Referring to the debacle of the Pakistani team in the recently-concluded ICC World Cup cricket tournament, Khan said that he has "started working on developing the best cricket team of the world in the next tournament, by bringing the best players in the team".

"Remember my words," the prime minister, who led Pakistan to victory at the 1992 Cricket World Cup, said.

Khan, however, did not divulge details about his plans.

Agree!!!!
bUT he should not appointed useless Mani and con artist Wasim Khan as Chairman and MD of PCB.

No he has said many times that the problems in cricket and cricketing administration are identical to general problems of bureaucracies in the country and decentralisation and creating meritocracy are at the heart of his agenda. The pcb like many administrations in Pakistan appears top heavy and stuck in the dark ages yet it is one organisation that has global appeal and scrutiny. If it is fixed in the right way it’s a model for how the rest of the country and governance can be improved.

At the moment things can only be at rock bottom with decentralisation of pcb and coaching but in time as things improve, as competition is introduced and structures streamlined positives will come and maybe more international quality staff can be retained. It’s just too soon to say. I honestly think misbah and waqar were brought in as temporary right hand men to identify how their respective departments can get ready for quality staff to work further down the line.

If you put incompetent people in selection and coaching panel it still bound to fail. Misbah will not select a performer over his buddies so all these changes will not make any difference. May be our A or U19 team can be good not national team.

Didn't he say, he'd sought out pakistan cricket in one week when comes to power and make the pakistani team the best the world has ever seen?

Yes he did
He sacked sethi and appointed ehsan mani
That was his version of fixing cricket in a week

It wouldn't surprise me if the PM was behind Misbah's appointment.

Let's not forget this is the same PM who sent out a tweet about what Pakistan should do if they win the toss against India in a Cricket World Cup match.

I don’t think you can accuse mani, misbah, waqar or wasim Khan of being incompetent or nepotistic. I think it’s simply a fact that we don’t have the right processes in place to develop and polish talent. This takes years not a couple months. You can see that we hardly play 4 day games on new pitches with kookaburra ball. It’s not going to be overnight success. We need to be patient.

I can just see it now... :afaq

2nd Dec: New Thread on PP "Time for PM Imran Khan to speak about Pakistan cricket"

3rd Dec: New thread on PP "Imran Khan Address Pakistani Cricket"

3th Dec: New threads on PP:

"Why is the PM involving him self in cricket?"
"Should not mix politics with sports"
"Misbah is only hired because he is related to Imran Khan"
"Doesn't Imran Khan have anything better to do than talk about cricket?"

Let's not forget this is the same PM who sent out a tweet about what Pakistan should do if they win the toss against India in a Cricket World Cup match.

So most likely not in our life time. May be 100 years later our great grand children can see something good or may be our cricket will be in history book.
Once upon a time we used to play cricket. We even won 1992 Wold Cup.......Then Misbah came along with Waqar appointed by 92's winning captain Imran Khan's professional and British accent English spoken educated guy Wasim Khan and since then our cricket started to decline......

I've been patient since 2010 how many years more ?

Its been in the decline for over a decade, can't blame everything on PM and Misbah

This is not really his job he got much much bigger things on his agenda which he promised to the country. Cricket needs to be separated from the PM of the country.

Well imran wasn’t pm in 2010
In 2010 half our team was banned or done for spot fixing plus of course Kaneria and kamran akmal were there under suspicious clouds.

You could say 2010 was our darkest moment. In 19 years the problem is pcb administration and lack of player development. These problems haven’t been attended to till now.

Just take as an example the biomechanics lab. We’ve lost all our offspinners due to dodgy actions and haven’t found a replacement for ajmal for about 5 years. The lab has only just started up and got icc accreditation.

Then consider fast bowling and suspect pitches. Mediocrity has thrived on lively wickets while batting has gone downhill. This is player development.

Plus consider that we hardly play test cricket 5-7 is about our average. England may play 15-20.

All of this is bigger than misbah and waqar combo and therefore lots needs to be done and results won’t be apparent overnight.

How about Wasim Khan does his job right and not flash his British accent. Appointing a never-been like Misbah as coach AND selector will always going to end in disaster. It's like appointing a kid as your CEO. Look at the credentials advertised for the post of coach and see how many of those Misbah has (or rather doesn't have).

If Imran Khan, as a PM, with access to all resources at his disposal, can't steer Pakistan cricket in the right direction then the game is doomed to follow the path of Squash and Field Hockey

IK definitely knows a thing or two about cricket and can provide guidance on building cricketing infrastructure in the country, identifying & promoting talent and at the very least get the politics and corruption out of of PCB. Wasim Khan's appointment seemed to be the right step in that direction but since then it has been the same ol, same ol

Rather than providing occasional tweets and quips on Pak cricket, he needs to intervene and act now for the betterment of the game. Its high time he walked his talk.

How we ended up with Misbah as a coach and chief selector is beyond me. Mani has been a big disappoint. IK definitely needs to do something about it. But he can't. If he does, there will be cries of "interference"

Imran Khan to focus on improving cricket after team’s humiliating defeat against Australia

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan on Wednesday stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will now emphasize on improving the standard of cricket in the country.

In an interview, Javed Khan stated that the prime minister could no focus on cricket earlier as he was concentrating on stabilising the economy and reinforcing the institutions, which were in complete mess.

The PTI senator stated that the government will now try and restore cricket via long term policy. He further added that PTI leaders have held talks on the earlier decisions take by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the national side.

Javed Khan, while talking about the appointment of Azhar Ali as the Test skipper, stated, “Appointing Azhar Ali as Test captain was not the right decision.”

Javed added Pakistan always lost in Australia, but such a humiliating loss was not expected.

Speaking on PCB's new domestic structure, the senator stated that the new domestic structure will deliver results.

Pakistan will next face Sri Lanka in the two match Test series, starting 11th December in Rawalpindi, followed by the second in Karachi from 19th December.

I'm glad they've spotted this blunder. Looks like Azhar Ali will be forced to step down from captaincy.

It's important for PTI to hold Misbah accountable for this and IK doesn't let him off with a slap on the wrist for his incompetence.

Imran Khan speaking at NUST today:

"When I ended my cricket career, I really had to do nothing - all I had to do was to talk like others about cricket and would have earned crores rupees in a year"

"But if I had done that, I would have blocked my human potential, I would have capped my potential as when the challenge goes away, your potential gets capped"

"We all have role models in life; when I used to play cricket, my role models were my cousins"

"When I first went to play cricket in India [on tour], we were treated like we were from a superior country and culture; There was an [inferiority] complex about Pakistan in the days when I used to play cricket"

"A good captain know which player should play on which position"
