Music maestro Shafqat Amanat Ali has said that it is high time that India lifted the ban on Pakistani artists.

Speaking to IANS Ali said, “Art and entertainment industry is a soft target. They know that they can't fight back, so just ban it. It is very easy. Otherwise, there is lot of trade that is happening between India and Pakistan."

After the Uri attacks in 2016, the Indian Motion Pictures Production Association in a resolution barred Pakistani artists from across the border from carrying their activities in the backdrop of escalating tensions between the two countries.

"If you go to the Attari-Wagah border, one can see trucks bringing goods and exchanging goods from both the sides. That import and export business is running full-fledged. People are waiting with their trucks and are off-loading," he said.

Ali, who has sung numerous hit tracks such as Mitwa, Tere Naina, Allah Waariyan, Bin Tere and Dildaara for Bollywood films, said, "If we stop that, it would lead to chaos. But they know that they if they put a ban on artists or actors or people who are related to art, they will express themselves through media or social media platforms. Nothing else."

The singer further said there "is a lot of other stuff which we can do positively and we are not doing that."

When asked if he misses performing in India, Ali said he does. “Of course, I do. If you talk to people who visited Pakistan to support their team in the last India-Pakistan match, (they will say) they went back after a very emotionally charged trip. They were given so much love. And we also received a lot of love, respect and appreciation for our work in India. I miss performing in India and it is high time that they lift the ban," he added.

It's time for Pak to ban Indian films.. payback with the same effect.

He loves India so much then try doing a Adnan Sami Khan my gaining Indian citizenship. I salute the likes of Shaan Shahid and Hamza Abbasi for rejecting Indian offers. That is what I call dignity and self respect.

There is nothing wrong in trying to get recognition and money. Shan Shahid and Abbasi are tools of the highest order. People even in a crowded super market in Lahore couldn't recognize Shan. Bollywood is a part of Pakistani culture whether you agree with it or not. As they say it is what it is.

nothing wrong in looking for better opportunities, but nothing should come before your country. why entertain the very people who hate your country?

People in Pak won't even recognise Bollywood stars if they were walking our streets. Make money in your own country instead of selling out to the enemy. Pakistanis do watch Bollywood but it does not represent Pak culture at all. What world do you live in?

Agreed.

I don't know why he is trying to tell Indians how to run their country, his wants and needs aren't their concern.

Was never in favor of Pakistani artists being banned in my country. And I'm still against my Government's policy of not not playing cricket with Pakistan. It sickens me. Itna nafrat kisi ke liye achha nahin!

FWICE issues strict warning to Indian singers on working with Pakistani artistes

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has yet again warned Indian singers against collaborating with Pakistani artistes. The film body issued a statement on social media after it noticed that a few artistes have recently worked with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on a digital platform.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the statement on Twitter and wrote, "No working with #Pakistani artists, singers, technicians, no working on digital platforms too... #FWICE issues stern warning... OFFICIAL STATEMENT...(sic)."

The statement has been addressed to musicians, singers, artistes and technicians.

It reads, "We are pained to inform all members that despite being fully aware that FWICE has issued a total non-cooperation circular advising all members not to work in any manner whatsoever with all Pakistani artistes, singers and technicians, some members are blatantly violating the non-cooperation circular."

In the letter, FWICE has mentioned the "recent instance in which our musicians have worked online with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan of Pakistan (sic)."

FWICE further shared that they have been informed that a lot of other content has also been planned and created.

FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit, president B N Tiwari, general secretary Ashok Dubey, and treasurer Gangeshwarlal Shrivastav have stated that if Indian singers are found working with Pakistani artistes in any form of entertainment, they will be subjected to strict disciplinary actions.

"One should also realise that while the entire world is fighting against the coronavirus, Pakistan is still busy killing our soldiers on the borders (sic)," the statement adds.

According to a report on an entertainment website, singer Harshdeep Kaur and designer Vijay Arora recently worked with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in an online concert, which has led FWICE to issue such a strict warning.

Following the Pulwama attacks of 2019, the president of the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) Ashoke Pandit called for a complete ban on Pakistani artistes.

"No Bollywood filmmaker will take any Pakistani artiste in his film. Even music companies will stop working with Pakistani singers. If any filmmaker or music company does not listen to the FWICE, we will stop the shooting of any film with Pakistani artistes and vandalise its sets (sic)," Pandit had said to India Today Television.

Meanwhile, FWICE is collecting donations for the daily wage workers who are most affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty, among others, have made a significant contribution to FWICE to help the needy.

It’s high time our artistes gave up this sickening infatuation and desperation to work in the Humsaaya Mulk. Why humiliate yourself in this manner when the neighbors have repeatedly made clear they aren’t welcome?

In other words, act like artistes, not stereotypical miraasis.
