TLP leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi passes away at age 54

Modi wants to get rid of Muslims. Hitler wanted to get rid of Jews. Rizvi wanted to get rid of Hindus, Christians, Shias and Ahmedis. What is the difference between the three men?

Did this guy ever preach anything other than hate? Other hate mongers initially exploit genuine economic or personal situations and talk about how they will fix those problems. With this guy, I can't even recall him preaching anything decent or what problems he will solve. I can't imagine even one good he has done. And so, I can't imagine what one good thing there is to say about this guy.

He was truly quite an intelligent and articulate man. Fluent in multiple languages and was able to articulate poetry, philosophy and religious history in a presentable way to the common man.

I wonder if he adopted his belligerent and hostile style of speaking more as a populist way of gaining some power than actually truly believing it deep down.

No you dont. He was a hate monger. Spreading poison through the society. I dont have a single good word to say about him.

Very well said. Don’t have to speak well for the deceased if they used their lives to sow chaos and hurt others.

He popularised the chant, ‘ Ghustakh ki aik saza, sar tun say juda, sar tun say juda.’ This chant is now on almost every Pakistani’s tongue!

Man, I just saw a aerial view of the funeral. There are at least 100k mourners. It is surreal!

The above picture sums it up, and this is just the public that was able to access the funeral.

The bitter reality is that at least 90% of Pakistanis hold extremist views and that is reflected in the global image and reputation of Pakistan.

Just a little back we had huge tablleghi rawaind ijtema a little before that a huge yom e ashore processions but now people have problem with jannaza hy seculars where is liberty freedom ? Did any body forced anybody to reach there or watch it on tv

Exactly. Whenever I say that Pakistani society, on the whole, is very extremist, people get upset! Extremism is not limited to a fringe minority like other countries in Pakistan. Pakistan, on the whole, is very extremist, bigoted and violent.

Not surprising, the brailvee movement in pakistan is frighteningly massive

It certainly is and they have inroads in the North of England for the past 40 to 50 years. However what is their legacy here. Not much it seems to me.

What about Hong Kong society? I seen many people vandalizing on tele, are all Hong Kong ppl vandalizers? Now you need to realise that there are 220 million Pakistanis so pulling a decent size crowd is not the most difficult. Stop being negative and the side kick of Shri Mamoon Shareef.

I will not discuss the merits of the man but after seeing the funeral and some claiming it to be one of the biggest if not the biggest funeral in the history of Pakistan shows where we are standing as a nation and what our agencies have to deal with in order to maintain law and order.

There's no political party in Pakistan that can manage this many people in any location in the country at such short notice. This has all been done without spending a penny, hiring musicians, or having any cloud puller at the helm, in fact, the main attraction at hand is dead.

What he represented was an ideology and you can discuss the merits of that ideology until the next year, the crux of the matter is that this ideology gets traction in Pakistan. In terms of votes pulled in general election 2018, the newly formed party even managed to pull more than 2 million votes. This for a party that was set up haphazardly and didn't even have any political pedigree is massive indeed.

The question to discuss now is how do we push this genie back in the bottle? Everything else, and even how we got here is irrelevant and no, it's not as simple as saying that the agencies should stop backing this movement.

As a Muslim, I believe that the man himself has to now answer for his actions, in the highest and the only court that matters and there's total and complete justice there.

May Allah subhanaho wa ta'ala protect us all and hopefully, this funeral doesn't become a corona super spreader event.

All vandals are behind bars. And, our government is not scared to take on these miscreants.

What are you on about? Numbers are everything. Do you know how many attended the funeral of killer Mumtaz Qadri? 95% Pakistanis have the same views as Rizvi. There is no question about it!It is an extremely intolerant country.

The funeral prayers for Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, who passed away on Thursday night, were offered at Lahore's Minar-i-Pakistan on Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of people gathered at the site to attend the funeral prayers with many complaining of mobile signal outages. The prayers were led by his son Saad Hussain Rizvi.

The city of Lahore started experiencing the impact of the death of the firebrand cleric when all entry points to the city and roads leading to his mosque faced traffic pressure, reporting long queues and jams. The pressure was set to grow today as thousands of his followers were expected to reach his funeral site and later to his burial site.

While some members of his party said he would be buried at his mosque in Chowk Yateem Khana, others have suggested his final resting place would be at the graveyard on Scheme Mor.

According to the Lahore chief traffic officer (CTO), five deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and 36 inspectors were overseeing traffic arrangements in the city. In a statement, the CTO said that no point would be completely closed for traffic and diversions would be opened along the route of the funeral procession.

The funeral procession will move through the Niazi Shaheed Interchange, Bund Road, Babu Sabu Interchange and will stop at Scheme Mor.

Security in the city is on "high alert" on the directions of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh with extra personnel posted at the entry and exit points of Lahore.

The TLP chief passed away two days ago at the age of 54.

According to the party’s spokesperson, Hamza, Rizvi had been experiencing difficulty in breathing and was running a fever since a day earlier.

The spokesperson added that Rizvi was at his madressah on Multan Road when his condition deteriorated on Thursday evening. He was subsequently rushed to the Farooq Hospital in Iqbal Town, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rizvi was later taken to Sheikh Zayed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, said Saad Rizvi, son of Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.

Rizvi made his last public appearance at a sit-in staged by thousands of TLP followers at Islamabad's Faizabad interchange to protest the publication of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in France.

The group had decided to end the sit-in on Monday after successful negotiations with the government.

In my locality of north west England all they do is hate speeches of deobands (wahabis), majority are not religious at all, hardly do the fard , hardly fast , just jump on the bandwagon.

Here we go, can you please back up these insane stats you come out with evidence please.

Plenty of his supporters on this site. Surprising

Where are his supporters on here? Nobodies condoned any violence or rhetoric or praised him

If anything the majoirty on here have nothing but negative to say about him and how hes stirred trouble in pakistan but as he has just died feel this isnt the appropriate time to lambast him

You can have all the love for the prophet pbuh and defend his honour but in no way he shouldve advocated violence, death on anbody or incited his followers like he did

Ps the numbers attending is absolute stupid considering we are in covid times

You do not need a survey to back up my claim. If you have lived in Pakistan or follow what goes on in Pakistan, you would know that the actual number is even greater than 95%.

Why is it that almost every day, we hear about mobs attacking minority places of worship? Why is it that every day, at least 3 minority girls are forcibly converted to Islam? Have you ever visited comment section of social media or online newspaper whenever an Ahmedi is killed? 99% of Pakistanis cheer such killings. Why is it that Amir Cheema, Mumtaz Qadri and Rizvi had the biggest funerals in Pakistan’s history?

If you really want numbers, here are some. According to a Pew survey about religious beliefs in Muslim countries.

More than 89% of Pakistanis say adulterers should be stoned to death which is the highest % in the world.

Around 80% Pakistanis feel that those who leave Islam should be killed. This number is again one of the highest in the world.

And, 99% of Pakistanis, according to me, believe Ahmedis should be killed!

Muslims arent supposed to speak ill of the dead.

Abu Lahab is cursed in the Quran. Every time a Muslim recites Surah Al-Masad, he is gaining reward for cursing a dead man.

Hence, Muslims are allowed to speak ill of the dead.

If modi dies tom there will be plenty of people speaking ill of him on this board and rightly so.

What a joke of a country!

Shirin Mazari, who is the HR minister, tweeted about Cokefest hours after the killing. After being reminded of how big of a hypocrite she is, she has finally issued a tweet condemning the killing!

SM has been a massive disappointment. She is like IK and she always avoids commenting on the persecution of minorities in Pakistan.

Kaptaan’s team selection.

Abu Lahab was cursed by Allah. The general consensus among scholars is that cursing the dead isnt permissible for muslims. But many say that yazeed can be cursed and i admit i have no clue how such exceptions are made.

Kaptaan’s team selection.

Yes Nawas's selection was the best, biggest thug: law minister, Finance Minister was corrupt & nearly defaulted the country and information minister was the biggest liar. I can name a few more selections too.

Some guy with too much time on his hands waiting for the next ride issuing sweeping statements that 95% Pakistanis are religious nutter when Infact all religious parties combined hardly manage to win 10% of the seats in all the legislative assemblies.

Who should we believe a guy living overseas or the electorate after every five years?

Almighty Allah sent the curse down on abu-lahab for cursing his messenger.

Please provide me a source of the 95% claim. I do not need an essay. It should be easy for you.

I am on my phone so some functions are not available.

I already did. The findings are from Pew survey titled ‘Muslims and Islam’.

The religious parties combined received 10% of the votes in the last election

Yes rhetoric and sectarian violence is a rising problem but to throw of 95% quotes around is totally wrong and unjustified

Most people in pakistan just like anywhere want just to put food on the table and live a peaceful life

It might shock you but “according to me” isn’t really a valid source. Any surveys or studies that show 99% of Pakistanis want to kill Ahmedis?

Nobody wants to kill Ahmedis. We just want them to stop hurting our religious sentiment by calling themselves Muslims. You can believe whatever you want as long as you don’t try to pass yourself off as a Muslim.

If Ahmedis claim they are not that different from Muslims then they have to explain why a non Ahmedi can’t pray in their mosques or why they don’t want to pray in our mosques..

Stew. Same could be said if Shias. About praying in each other’s mosques

I am not a Ahmedi but I have prayed in a Ahmedi mosque on a couple of occasions and nobody tried to stop me. For your information, I saw zero difference between the Ahmedi mosque and a regular mosque from a religious perspective. Moreover, it was cleaner, well organized, with plenty of volunteers and people were courteous. You want to know why they don't want to pray in regular mosques in Pakistan? They don't want to be killed.

Yet Ahmedis are regularly killed in Pakistan specifically for their beliefs. Comment sections on social media are full of people supporting these killings. You may not want to kill Ahmedis, but unfortunately several others do.

His methods were wrong, but his message was clear in respect of blasphemy and it resonates with people in our country, we should respect that and perhaps try to understand it to rather than ridicule it.

Anyway you cut it , his message totally unacceptable. He has to be condemned in the strongest words

There is no shortage of fools in Pakistan.

All I'll say about him is that Pakistani society is all the better without him. One less nuisance to worry about.

May Allah give patience to his family.

I am lost for words. There are million/millions of people at his funeral.

And, people question why we are in the FATF and why we have such a horrible image internationally.

If you have actually lived in Pakistan or at least follow what goes on there, you should know that there are signs outside mosques prohibiting others sect members from offering their prayers inside. For example, outside some barelvi mosques, there are signs saying wahabis are not allowed to pray inside.

Should all these sects start killing each other?

When Abdul Sattar Edhi does; this vermin said “what has he done to deserve a state funeral, he destroyed Pakistan society by giving roof to illegitimate children”

It’s ironic that when this pathetic person died; his dead body was collected by an edhi ambulance

The high percentages regarding adultery and apostasy reflect how extremist of a nation Pakistan is.

One is an amoral act that modern society seems a norm now, that is against the basis of humanity, let alone major world religions.

The other is a matter of interpretation; leave, accept the permutations and go quietly. Those that become martyrs through their outspoken views are aware of the realities

No surprise there. Not to forget the Ahl-i-Hadith wahhabis according to them. Sad fact is many are tied in with them because their family communities are in them. Leaving their masjid / practice / beliefs would mean leaving the family. I wonder what has been said in the barelvi community here about Khadim Rizvi.

He has a vast following who are full of admiration for the man. Having said that he was a good man who was confused between religion and politics and alot of his legacies are very questionable.

May his sole rest in peace

You lied and made this 95% stat up. Now you have an ego problem to admit that you lied.

Read what I have mentioned in this thread, in conjunction with what has been happening in Pakistan for a long time and the survey, then you will realise that the 95% figure is understated. Uou need to do this by yourself; I cannot do everything for you.

Honestly we in Karachi are forever indebted to Edhi Sahab. The stupid provincial government elected on the back of interior Sindh hasn't even provided a rescue service. If it wasn't for Edhi ambulance we won't even have an ambulance service. Be any crime, disaster or incident Edhi ambulance is first on the scene. Now Edhi sahab's mission is being carried forward by his son. May Allah give strength and may Edhi Sahab be granted the highest rank in Jannah. Ameen

You gave a specific figure and now can't provide the source. Anyhow, I am just wasting my time with you.

Our society has been on a path of radicalization for quite some time, but the state's propensity to use, appease and not take action against radicals with street power has accelerated it further. Any state that can be taken hostage by a few hundred people is a weak state.

The large swathes of people at Rizvi's funeral are emblematic of the radicalism and extremism that has been nurtured and allowed to grow. And things will only get worse...
