Curtly Ambrose speaking before his arrival in Pakistan

"I am looking forward to seeing colleagues I played against, I will see the PM Imran Khan who I played against many years ago"

"To me Wasim Akram was the greatest (Pakistan cricketer); I have always had great respect for him; I have seen him do things with the cricket ball that mere mortals could not do; He was a special case"

"Imran Khan great all-rounder and cricketer and a great leader, now he's the PM and I am looking forward to seeing him and Javed Miandad as well"

"I played against Waqar Younis who made a formidable partnership with Wasim Akram; These guys, made the ball talk and they were special players"

"I had the privilege to play against some great Pakistan cricketers and they gave us the run for the money"

"Let me tell you, it wasnt easy to beat them - we had a lot of respect for them"

"I know Pakistanis love their cricket and they love the West Indies; Many tell me that after Pakistan, West Indies are their favourite team and thats an honour as well"

"We always enjoyed touring Pakistan and we knew cricket was tough there"

"I was in Pakistan some time ago but I am delighted to be going back, even though its a short stay"

Good comments, every ex cricketer who played against Wasim ranks him amongst the best. He was really special.

You know what in India, Imran Khan is seen as the third greatest fast bowler that Pakistan has produced.

I remember an event in which Kapil and Imran both were there and they were asked to pick an all-time India Pakistan XI and Kapil clearly mentioned that Wasim was the greatest bowler Pakistan ever produced. Second was Waqar and then Imran. Kapil is a 70's era player and he said this with Imran just beside him. He was simply a magician with the bowl and the most admired bowler to come from Pakistan.

It’s an interesting point , and I’ve thought of this analogy before when looking at the West Indies batting greats Sobers, Viv and Brian Lara — those who have seen each of these batsmen at their best would argue that what they saw on that day was batting perfection and could not have been bettered by anyone. I have seen both Viv and Lara at their peaks and they were both kings and you can’t easily say one was better. For this reason, you could say arguably any of the three in Sobers, Viv Richards or Brian Lara could be rated as the greatest West Indies batsman ever.

In the same way having watched all three of Imran, Wasim and Waqar at their peaks - they were all legends and had different styles although reverse swing and genuine pace was a common skill they were all blessed with - but in truth at their very best they were equally lethal and had the potential to win you the match single-handedly from any position. There’s very little to separate them when it comes to the greatest Pakistani fast bowler ever if we talk about effectiveness and their stats will speak for themselves.

Imran Khan Had a Career threatening serious injury when he was at his peak (he lost his best bowling years). If Imran Khan had not gotten injured he would have been the first fast bowler to 500 test wickets. He would have then surpassed Sobers as the greatest of all time. But he got injured & Wasim Akram became the best bowler ever produced by Pakistan. But still Imran was a better batsman and captain.

imran khan was the best cricketer pak has ever produced.

not only he was the best all-rounder of his era, there are some mentally disturbed people who would argue opposite but they dont matter, and was also the best bowler of his time

with his awesome all round skills and his diverse ideas as of introducing leg spin, reverse swing , his game awerness, his fitness routine, his food ethics made him the best of the best

and to top, him getting all these greats of the game in the playing XI (even if you want to argue they werent found directly by him but he got them in the playing XI)

left behind a great team behind him ....

Wasim, though was the best bowler ever produced by pak and top 3 in the world though .. but just as a bowler

Agree with everything. Thumbs up. Those who disagree are youtube video watchers. Not a live watcher/follower. There may not be another Wasim (who knows there may be someone similar), there definitely wouldn't be another Imran Khan, the Cricketer. The oppositions wanted his autographs.

Its like Croatian player taking pictures from the bench while the dream team ('92) is playing against them.

Imran khan never sold his country.

The fact that wasim Akram didn’t play 96 QF shows that he had ulterior motives. If I’m in my prime as a sportsman and have a choice to play against arch rivals in a World Cup Match that comes once every 4 years, unless I’m dying I would play,

There’s something fishy.

That alone disqualified him from being greatest ever at anything.

Then there is justice qayyum report too...

Ambrose is an all time great. He was very quick, accurate and generated bounce because of his height. It was not easy to score runs against him. After Ambrose and Walsh the golden era of WI cricket came to and end.I don't know what happened.

Have to agree with Ambrose here. Wasim is the best Pakistani player of all time (much better than Imran Khan).
