What's new

To those who says Afghanistan deserve praise!

Yeah I don't really rate out performances like that against Australia or anything. Winning is what matters only.

Afghanistan are a top 10 team. They didnt field well, didn't bowl smart, their batting was poor. Pakistan were rubbish today, but Pakistan was less rubbish than Afghanistan thus deserves the 2 points.

nope. imad was actually out early. Cpuld have changed the game. gulbadin was doing fishy stuff. Why on earth wouldn't he give the ball to a spinner when he knows he has been terrible throughout the day. Hope for Pakistan's sake this game wasn't rigged. I would hate winning like that. I just wonder had it been say 190/8 whether pakistan could have won hey?
Pretty sure another decision went Pakistan's way.
stupid sarfraz getting run out for no reason. shadab too. unnecessary. I think pakistan would not have won if a spinner came on in those penultimate overs.

Nice post,

I have always seen the support Pakistan get's in BD if they are not playing BD and that is why BD is Always my second favorite team after Pakistan. May the best team win in PAK Vs BD but if BD goes through to the semis then i will be rooting for them.

I believe, and i might be wrong, but the bangali bros and sisters started getting into cricket by watching imran khan and pakistan. The bengalis always supported pak and were inspired to form their own team. MashaAllah, their team is performing excellent in this wc, and obviously, bengalis will support their own team, but i think alot of bengali bros and sis still have a soft spot for the pak team!

Afghanistan deserve no praise!
Losers don't deserve praise, especially when you have lost all 8 games you have played in the wc!
Win a game and i might reconsider (highly unlikely!)

They are actually two good batsmen away from winning matches. They are a good team but it will take years before they can actually start winning games against better sides.

They need proper fast bowlers. Not sure why they can’t produce 90MPH bowlers considering the natural strength they posses which is similar to the West Indians. They can’t compete with top nations with bowlers who are hitting 80mph and spinners who are bowling 58 mph

Mujeeb will be finished as a bowler in 2 years time. Rashid Khan has lost his stock already. Nabi has done well as he has been assisted with spin wickets.

It will take ages for Afghanistan cricket team to become a professional outfit. They have a lot of infighting in the team due to ethnic and religious divisions. The players lack discipline.Their bowler Aftab has been sent home due to disciplinary reasons. No one knows what he did.

Disagree. Every fight deserves praise. They don't deserve a point but they deserve all the appreciation they get. Reason is, they fought.

Except all Afghan players belong to one ethnicity and religion as of right now, one can only imagine how bad it might get once Tajiks, Hazaras and other minorities start playing cricket. It could either unite afghanistan or fracture it even more.

so afghanistan sent their best batsman back home, then dropped their other opener. then dropped their
best fast bowler. and still came close to beating a few teams. People don't get that this is the early phase of Afghanistan cricket, the contracts will come out and people will see that there is money in this now. Rashid becoming a millionaire will inspire many more and so will nabi and mujeeb. those 3 along with chahal and kuldeep are the best spinners right now in the world

Bangladesh is way way Better than this spin track specialist team but still they don't come with all this ******** these Afghans come.

Their best player has his age overstated by 15 frigginn years. They deserve no praise

I dont know why but, Afghans seems more exciting to watch than Bangladesh. If BCCI can properly back the Afghans, they will turn into a good team in the future.. They have passion and talent...

why will mujeeb be finished? he is only 18 years old officially and rashid khan is only 20 years old officially, they are just starting out at international level and have a bright future ahead. Hamid hasan is not 80 mph bowler and more will come along as there is a lot of passion in afghan cricket and they like to bowl fast. In my opinion , their biggest problem will be finding good batsmen as there is no culture of proper batting in afghanistan as of now.

Unfortunately, claiming to be 10 years younger doesn’t determine anything. Rashid khan is not even close to 25 and if you think he’s going to get better with “age” then you need a reality check

As someone else said, they could have won all 3 Asian Cup super 4 group games last year? Tied against India, bottled a chase in the end v Bangladesh and bottled a game against Pakistan in similar circumstances to yesterday. I thought they'd give this much of a fight to everyone in this WC, only against India and Pakistan they took the game very far. It's a typical trait of minnow teams in every sport to not know how to win tight games. Bangladesh were like that a few years ago, but now they've improved a lot in that aspect too, so fair play to them and that's one of the reasons I rate Bangladesh a lot now.
