Younis failed to overcome his weaknesses against pace and swing. I have serious doubts he can improve others in this aspect.

We have Waqar as a bowling coach anyway. But someone like David Sakar or Allan Donald would be better. Unlikely to happen though.

Against austrlia in he averages plus 50 and in England he averages pluss 45 new zeland pluss 40 obvs that could include from in foreign conditions and in asian conditions.he has 2 big scores in england.he knows how to score runs.

Like I said in previews post if you want to get the big names u got to pay the big money

Shahid Aslam is the assistant team manager.

No idea what that entails.

Abdul Majeed is the fielding coach and is supposed to be a pretty good coach, who has worked in domestic cricket and with Pakistan U19s etc.

Most professional cricket teams at this level have assistant head coaches. You're pretending like this is a unique position in PCT and are making it controversial for whatever reason.

An assistant head coach is part of the coaching staff helping the head coach. Usually the head coach brings in his own person but in this case Shahid Aslam is board appointed. Life of an assistant head coach is not easy as generally these are short term contracts with no job security. Not everybody is blessed as Misbah where they can get the top job directly. People in these roles are less known personalities looking to gain coaching experience. They're in the back end and don't make the presser everyday so typically you only hear about them when they're appointed or terminated. We had some notable personalities in the past for this role such as Mushy and Azhar Mehmood.

Now do we need one on tour? Yes! We are taking 29 players and it's a long tour. Misbah and the main coaches will struggle to give them all time. So if there's a position that exists to ease their workload and takes care of mudane tasks (setting up drills, throw downs) it's absolutely justifiable.

People are criticizing PCB for having a 14 person management staff, meanwhile West Indies are also taking 14 person management staff. Pakistan cricket just get criticized like they are doing things different. It's common to have a head coach, assistant coach, and 4 to 5 specialist coaches, team manager, physio, strength and conditioning coach, analyst, and a media manager. Thats 11 to 12 coaches. Then there are some coaches that team picks like for extra comfort for players like a massage therapist. Then their are teams like West indies currently who have multiple people in a role. For example West Indies have multiple Physios.

This management of PCB is one of the best coaching staff that PCB has appointed. You have experienced individuals in their respected roles. The best part is that Misbah and Younis Khan just recently retired from international cricket. Also most of the coaching staff has experience of playing in English conditions or coached in England.

Muhammad Aslam passed away in Lahore this morning after suffering from a long illness.

But can someone tell me what the roles of the Strength and Conditioning Coach, and the Team Analyst are exactly?

The only thing slower then Misbah is a turtle, and even then a turtle has more of a coaching brain then him!

If Misbah was by himself the test would be over before he made a decision!

The names mentioned could all be a dream team of backroom staff as long as they have one, solid international coach.

You can get who you like but the fact is that players need to do the job on the field.

If they were cooking chicken biryani then I would definitely agree too many cooks, but given they are each there help Pakistani cricketers to address their weaknesses and improve , the more the better I say. As it means they should be able to focus more of their energies on fewer players and get better results.

Otherwise let’s face it we have other ‘passengers’ in the current wider squad who will probably play two 20-over games in a 40-50 day tour and are spending their time on golf courses taking selfies and using up free Covid tests on a free all expenses paid trip.

So you want 30 batsmen to bat every day and prepare. You need to work on your all-rounders, their fielding and training. You don’t have any net bowlers, no support. Within the group, the coaches had to do fielding sometimes and umpiring too. That was the need of this tour, to have a big staff. This helped us.
