Thanks to Robelinda for this stat.

Guess for Azhar Ali, UAE is home so strictly not true.

Among these, the best I saw were:-

Expanding on above list.

Best I watched was the Gilchrist double ton against the saffers. He was in the form of his life and just smashed everyone. An unreal innings.

Most Hundreds in International cricket among active players:

1) Virat Kohli - 80
2) David Warner - 49
3) Joe Root - 46
4) Rohit Sharma - 46
5) Steve Smith - 44
6) Kane Williamson - 44

Kohli got to play more games. That helped.

India simply play too much cricket. So, it is easier for them to hold these records.

Since 2010,

Eng - 175 tests( 350 innings) + 272 ODIs = 600 plus innings
Aus is not far behind.

India has 323 ODI's + 280 innings in test = 600 innings

England seem to rotate their players more than India do.

Kohli gets to play more games.

Even without looking at number of innings for teams, it's just ridiculous to say that Kohli having almost double the tons than others is due to India playing more. No team plays that much extra.

It's simply due to him being gun in both formats. Otherwise , there are players who have somewhat similar number of tons in tests or in ODI. Basically difference is not present that way in individual format, but when taken together no one else is at his level and that results in 40 tons vs 80 tons vs his peers.

T20, hardly going to help with count of tons in any meaningful way so left that out.

Smith and Root are not playing less due to rotation. They are simply not good enough to be the top 2-3 players in ODI format for their teams. Kohli has been top player in ODI and tests for his side and that's why he could play more games.

Anyone else didn't have chance to get to 80-90 tons.

Kohli gets to play more games.
Root has played 137 tests out of 175 tests ( Around 80% of games )
Kohli in test - 113 out of 143 played by India ( Around 80% of games)

Both of them played around 80% tests but Kohli played larger number of ODI's simply due to being one of the most important players for his team. That's not the case with Root. It should be obvious.

Kohli is the hungriest player. He scores big daddy hundreds across formats regularly.

Joe Root was known for a long time for his poor conversion rate but has stepped it up recently.

Smith and Root are good enough for ODI. Both England and Australia play them during ICC events.

80 international centuries absolutely awesome.

Morgan has played the third highest number of ODIs after 2010. Only two batsmen , Rohit and Kohli played more and both are ATG in ODI format.

Morgan was better suited for shorter format so no surprise him playing so many games for Eng. He played only 16 tests, because he was not suited for test format.

You are not going to magically get to 80 tons from 40 tons. The gap is too huge and gap can't be explained by India plays more or Kohli plays more. Explanation is simple, Kohli is gun in both formats. That's what allowed him to get to 80 international tons. Being gun in one format won't allow anyone to get close to 80 tons.

As you said yourself, Root/Smith are good enough in ODI. Good enough is not going to be enough to get near 80 tons.
