Granted that Rizwan was the highest scorer in the innings, 69(56), but the fact is that Pakistan had no chance of winning the game until Nawaz 45*(20)

Because he scored the most runs.

Its called Man of the Match - highest scorer or highest wicket taker.

They should really start changing this for T20 or ODI or Test Cricket as well.

Label it as "Impact Player Of The Match".

There was only one player who changed this game today and it was Nawaz.

Wasim gets a distant 2nd credit for bowling an impactful last over.

Rest of the batsmen were just as impactful as Shakib and Liton Das (Babar aka Rizwan) and had no significant impact in Pakistan winning.

Remember those times when they used to have multiple awards in the post match ceremony?
Like man of the match, catch of the match, impactful player of the match etc.
I think man of the match could be the most impactful player of the match. Like Nawaz was in Asia cup against India.

Can be.

But wasn't today.

Shakib, Liton, Rizwan and Babar all played for their teams today.

But only one player changed the complexion of the game.

And Wasim also 10 percent by his last over.

That's a fair assessment. Plenty of guys did a decent job but what Nawaz did was clutch, almost a perfect execution of the middle order accelerator/finisher. I feel like there was a higher level of difficulty to it, a quick 20-25 is one thing but a 45 run innings at 200+ is a matchwinner.

Rizwan did his job well, but nothing extraordinary about it as an individual innings.

Wasim's last over made the match winnable, so if someone wanted to give him the award, I could understand it. But he probably didn't bowl quite well enough in his other overs to get it.

Thanks for that clarification :D

However, this could have happened?
